The cottage has only one bedroom but is well equipped and was renovated in 2012. It has it's own private pool with loungers, bbq, etc and plenty of outdoor space. Upstairs in the cottage is the living/ kitchen area with a sofa bed for extra guests. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, cooker, etc and living area has a TV which you can play DVDs and CDs on and also has a USB port.
The cottage also has wifi internet access. A spiral staircase leads down to one double bedroom with an en-suite bathroom/wet room. The en-suite is the only bathroom in the house and is accessed through the main bedroom so any extra guests must take this into consideration when booking.
My husband Adam and I are originally from Edinburgh in Scotland. We moved here to Portugal in 2008. We love this central part of Portugal and it reminds us very much of the highlands in Scotland only with sunshine.
Adam works with a Portuguese builder and is fluent in the language. I speak the language too but not as well as Adam. We love to spend time with our Portuguese friends and feel that we have integrated into life here in Portugal.
We love to go back to Edinburgh to visit friends and family but must admit we are spoilt with where we live and don't tend to travel further afield.
I love doing yoga and taking long walks. This area is perfect for walking as there are many mountain tracks with stunning views
The Owner purchased this cottage in 2010
We had such a great time staying at Hazels and Adams small cottage in the beautiful village of Alqueve.
The house is well equipped and as Hazel honestly writes; it is small. But perfect for two people. We stayed there with our boy of seven and that was just fine too.
The views are fantastic and the area is great. You can relax by the pool, go swimming in one of the many beautiful rivers or go sight seeing. We especially enjoyed the many castles and the city of Coimbra - go see the university. It is beautiful.
Hazel and Adam were so very kind and helpful - and invited us to join them in the local village for sardine fiesta. It was great and everyone there so very kind.
Not many people speak English - for example at the supermarket. But we found it not to be a problem, becuase everyone is very helpful. So we spoke Danish, and it worked just fine :-)
Our warmest recommendations for this place.
Soaking up the view while lounging by the pool listening to the birdsong is a wonderful way to unwind and relax. Hazel and Adam's delightful cottage in its tranquil setting is thoughtfully and generously equipped with everything you need, and the property was clean and well maintained. They provided lots of information about the local area which we enjoyed exploring, and we found the local restaurants served good food at reasonable prices. We would not hesitate to recommend this property and hope to be back next year.
i love this place! so good waking up and stepping out onto your own private pool with breath taking views, i could look at them all day long. you are not disturbed by any onlookers/neighbours so i could just kick back and enjoy the sunshine in peace. house has everything you need, tv, dvd, player dvds, fridge, cooker, comfy bed, info on surrounding areas. the owners hazel and adam were very friendly and helpful. i will definitely be coming back again
The property itself is very quirky with the bedroom and shower room downstairs. The living area upstairs affords spectacular views over the valley below. The pool is perfectly maintained and a very good size. The Al fresco dining area is just fantastic too with barbecue and bread oven, fridge, covered area and sink. Again a very good size. Stunning all round and I would go back tomorrow if I could!!!! We will definitely be returning in the autumn.
