*** Celebrating 25 Years in Business! ***

Welcome to the Golden Slipper, Boston's Original Bed & Breakfast Afloat!

If you are looking for an absolutely unique and romantic B&B experience to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, engagement, or wedding, the Golden Slipper awaits! It is an ideal romantic getaway for two, but also a fun adventure for four. Two private staterooms are offered with plenty of privacy for both couples, and room to relax on the yachts front and aft decks.

The Golden Slipper, Boston’s B&B “Afloat” is a traditional Catalina Chris Craft. The 40’ Yacht is located at Lewis Wharf, in the heart of historical Boston. The boat stays moored at the slip and you come and go as you please. This is a private party yacht accommodating up to six guests, with a continental breakfast left for you. Cruises of Boston Harbor and dinners are available upon request, during your stay.

The Golden Slipper offers the unique experience of having a Bed and Breakfast, with the opportunity to cruise Boston Harbor, for a day or sunset cruise. You return to your slip, the innkeepers leave, and you continue to enjoy your yacht for the rest of your visit.

In addition to the two private staterooms, the main salon accommodates 2 more people on a double berth sofa. This layout is perfect for a family vacation, reunion, or “girls' getaway”. The business traveler can enjoy a unique, comfortable setting, as well, and entertain clients with a sunset dinner cruise.

Guest comments from all over the world describe the Golden Slipper as a very positive experience, and a unique getaway in a very urban setting. Our guests love our fabulous location, within walking distance to many historic attractions. Escape to the boat for peaceful moments of relaxation on the aft deck, enjoying excellent views of the busy Boston Harbor. In the evening be rocked to sleep with a gentle motion, and wake up to coffee and muffins on the deck, greeting a new day in historical Boston Harbor.

We look forward to welcoming you on board!!

Floating happiness

  • 4 of 5

Gretchen and Susan were both wonderful hostesses. They were communicative and available to answer any questions we had. I have never slept in a floating hotel room before, and it was an unforgettable experience!!! They provided so many little extras that made the trip comfortable and easy for us. I highly recommend staying at The Golden Slipper for a one of a kind experience!!

Simply Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Location, ambiance....couldn't be better! We LOVED our stay here. Clean, nice continental breakfast, Gretchen and her assistant were so helpful also. The water taxi is a great option to get to the boat and then to our cruise terminal. Sat on the deck and had dinner, beautiful, amazingly quiet. Accessibility could be an issue for a person with mobility issues or is large. We would definitely stay again when in Boston and will recommend to friends!

Fabulous location and very tranquil considering the location.

  • 5 of 5

Very easy process working with Gretchen and her manager Susan. We arrived a bit earlier then scheduled and Susan graciously allowed us to off load our stuff onto the boat prior to her finishing up with the cleaning process. She also helped us carry our stuff on board! After she went over all the need to know stuff we headed out to a wonderful Italian Restaurant and enjoyed lunch. When we returned the place was immaculate and we had fresh cut flowers in a vase on the table. A continental breakfast was included in the price too! My only negative would be for someone entering the boat...a bit tricky with stairs and entry...a bit trickier for those imbibing! Would totally recommend staying at the Golden Slipper..for the price you can't beat it! more thing. The bed in the master suite is soooooo comfortable!

Sleeping on a houseboat was great!!

  • 5 of 5

The Location was awesome. The owner was great! She gave us the 411 on how everything on the boat operates. Most importantly she directed us to great sites and local venues. We really had a great time. The marina is very quiet and did I mention is a great location!

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

Had a nice one night stay on the Golden Slipper. Gretchen is friendly, had good communication with us and was super flexible about our uncertain arrival time. The location was super, so near to the north end with all those tasty restaurants. It was even handy to Logan, we called the Water Taxi and they picked us up from the dock (but allow 20-30 min. of 'slush time' since you have to take the free shuttle bus to actually get to the terminals.).

Staying on the boat was comfy, beds good and nice little deck on the aft for an evening cocktail and breakfast. The fridge even had a few breakfast goodies. There's a Starbucks and well stocked (but expensive) grocer within a 5 min. walk. Would definitely consider staying there again.

Perfect Location, Fun Experience!

  • 5 of 5

After six days in Salem and Nantucket for a mini, 50-year reunion with two of my wife's college friends and spouses, we and one of the college friends decided to spend a few days in Boston, as we'd never visited there before. Requiring two rooms, we found conveniently located hotels too pricey, but a neighbor of ours mentioned they stayed on a Boat & Breakfast in Boston several years ago and thought it was great. Despite being in our early 70s, we're still adventuresome and decided let's see what's available on VRBO and give it a try.

"The Golden Slipper" suited our needs perfectly with its very convenient location at Lewis Wharf, easy walking distance to the Aquarium, restaurants and to walking the Freedom Trail with it's many interesting attractions. Accommodations aboard were excellent with two staterooms -- a very comfortable king bed for my wife and I, and a queen bed stateroom for our friend. Both had their own baths -- ours was even fitted with a small bathtub/shower. The galley and lounge area were comfortable and had ample seating for six on this 40-foot vintage Chris Craft.

Gretchen, the boat owner was very helpful and accommodating in our initial and subsequent emails and had her manager Susan meet us at the wharf lobby. She helped us with our luggage and explained the workings of the galley, baths and other necessary information and requirements for our three-night stay. The refrigerator had juices, milk, breakfast bars, fruit and cream cheese for the two varieties of bagels provided. Plenty of coffee and tea were also available. We bought cereal and enjoyed breakfasts outside aft on deck chairs and a settee -- and again for cocktails in the evening. We walked to restaurants for our dinners -- all within 10-minutes or less. Great location for the North End's many Italian restaurants! We also enjoyed the Chart House and Legal Seafood.

At our ages, hauling two pieces of luggage each (enough for 9 days away) was not the easiest in getting from the wharf lobby, down to the boat and particularly into the boat, but we made the most of it and had fun doing it. All in all we enjoyed our stay aboard and recommend it. Boston is a wonderful city and "The Golden Slipper" is a great place to stay!
