We stayed here last February and had the most wonderful vacation. The property was clean and well appointed. We arrived to a newly tiled living area which was done in good taste and made the condo even more bright and open than the pictures show. A very pleasant surprise.
During our stay, the owner was reachable and very responsive. He was pleasant, professional and insured that all our needs were met.
This condo is a winner. The views are great (marina from the bedrooms and ocean from the dining/living area). The condo was quiet and the one common wall in the unit is a hallway/living room wall, so even if you happened to have loud neighbors on the side (ours were fine) the bedrooms would still be quiet. The condo was clean and well outfitted. In-unit hi-speed wi-fi worked fine. I was told by management that only about 10 of the units in Ocean Pointe have in-unit broadband internet and it's important for us when we travel.
We could not extract our daughters from the pool. It's nicer than we had expected. There was one day that we were Scuba diving in the morning and wound up spending the afternoon playing at the pool. We were so pruned!
Location is central to most everything. It's a quick trip up to Key Largo for diving or watersports, and a quick trip down to Islamorada for sport fishing or dinner at the Islamorada Fish Company (they feed the resident tarpon at 8:00).
The owner was very professional and responsive. Booking, details, and even the security deposit refund went smoothly.
There are a few updates that would be nice (older living room sofa, damaged/missing window screens), but the owner is aware of these and they presented no inconvenience to us on our visit.
This property is exactly as billed!!!
A few items we liked in particular -
- unit is on the ocean and close to pool and marina
- corner unit
- quiet and private
- gated complex, off of side street, close to main road
- very well run complex
They are installing new kitchen next week (existing kitchen was just fine imo)
Great location and view -- nice facility -- the condo is a little older but very clean and nice
I would like to see a better tv in the family room -- over all great place
The owner of this condo was very responsive, responsible and easy to work with. My family stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed the area - John Pennekamp park, drove to Key West for the day, kayaked and swam. The condo was clean and spacious. The kitchen had all of those little things you hope to not have to buy while on vacation like salt, sugar and dish detergent! Our family had 4 adults and 2 children. The only down side for us is the pull out couch is not suitable for adults to sleep on.
We stayed at this condo for 8 nights in January for our 35th Anniversary. The condo had awesome views and was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped with the necessary small gadgets and items like foil, wrap and detergent. We found this units location on the end to be more private and the stairs nearby were handy. We ate out for all our dinners and found the Key Largo Conch House at 100 in Key Largo to be one of the best for price and quality and quantity of food. We ate there several times. Keys Bite Restaurant at 99 was good and reasonable in price. We also would recommend the Islamorada Fish Company. Avoid the Old Tavernier restaurant unless you want to way overpay for your food and be served by unfriendly staff. We went to the turtle hospital in Marathon which was worth the trip and we ate at the cracked conch café at 49.5 there which was excellent . The conch marcelles is worth the stop. We also spent one day at Key West and found that to be a huge tourist trap although the experience was worth the time. The beach there was the nicest in the keys and the views awesome. And of course the most southern point is a must see. But the tourists are all over and we saw at least six "almost car accidents" and scooters are crazy. So be prepared. We took the glass bottom boat ride at the Pennekamp state park in Key Largo which was cheaper in price than the private rides and also with the coral in Key Largo I think the ride is probably the most colorful. They had plenty of kayak rentals as well. They also had walking trails although they had the mangrove one chained off when we were there. We did use the kayaks at Ocean Pointe however as when we were there the pool was under construction so the kayaks were free. We ate all our breakfasts and lunches at the unit and found the unit to be very quiet and comfortable. The unit had new flooring put in recently and you can tell that Gy had been investing in the unit unlike some of the units at Ocean Pointe that are rented thru Hotels.com. The furniture showed some ware but was definitely comfortable. Gy was wonderful to deal with, answering all questions very quickly and following up on everything immediately. The security refund was quick as well. Overall we had a wonderful time and would recommend this unit .
We very much enjoyed our stay at Ocean Pointe. The condo was spacious, clean and well equipped with a great view. We didn't spend much time on the grounds, but the pool was nice and had a place to get drinks, and there were a number of grills on the grounds that were accessible. We did not have a boat, but the marina seemed like it would work well if one wanted to bring their boat. Gy was very accessible both prior to and during our stay and was great to work with. This is a nice condo unit for a family of 4.
