This is a wonderful little gem in the beautiful village of Broadway. We toured many of the local Cotswold villages and this is by far our favorite! Easy walk into the village for great shopping and access to restaurants and pubs.
The good: Great location and the owners have done a wonderful job with a renovation. Comfortable beds - 3 good size bedrooms. Make note - there is only 1 full bathroom to share amongst 3 bedrooms. There is a small toilet room on the lower level - which made this a workable arrangement for our group.
The not so good: The bathroom is small and has a hand held shower for use in the tub - which makes taking a shower very difficult. I'd recommend the owners install a shower curtain to help contain the shower spray. Also I highly recommend installation of a grab bar to aid getting out of the tub for a safety reasons. There's a significant drop as the tub is raised. My parents in their late 70s did not feel comfortable using the bath or shower for this reason.
Not one tea towel was available in the kitchen - we bought some for our use. The dishes were very dirty upon arrival - we had to wash them all again before we could use them. It seems that although the dinner plates will go in the dishwasher, they are too big to allow the spinner to spin and clean all the dishes. We hand washed the dinner plates and then the dishwasher cleaned everything else perfectly.
The cleaners had not checked the oven - it was very dirty with spilled food from a prior guest.
A tea pot would be a wonderful addition - this is England after all!!
Communication with the property manager left alot to be desired. We received a letter from Holiday Cottages with contact name and numbers to call. Between us, my parents and I left 3 phone messages yet no one returned our calls. We arrived at 3pm and had to reach out to Holiday Cottages to get an access code. We were then provided the wrong code as we had been confused with another guest arriving next door. Only after reversing the code on the odd chance it may work, did we gain access.
As owners of a vacation rental property ourselves, we strive to provide all our guests with a fabulous vacation experience. Broadway Cottage has terrific potential, it just needs some fine tuning with amenities and more detailed oversight on cleaning.
We will definitely recommend the property to family and friends and hope the owners can address some of the items which prevent us from giving this 5 stars.
