About George

As a private pilot, I enjoy flying from California out to my FlyingAdobe casita in Santa Fe. I love the weather, people, cuisine, hiking outdoors, and culture of Santa Fe. With high speed wireless internet access, I am able to stay connected with my business back in San Diego while enjoying all that Santa Fe has to offer.

George purchased this house in 2007

Why George chose Santa Fe

Walking distance to the Plaza and newly developed Railyard district in town. Quiet historic neighborhood dating back to early 1600s.

What makes this house unique

Private yard with view of mountains, great for traveling pets and dining al fresco in summer.

clean and conveniently located

  • 4 of 5

This home is conveniently located for those visiting Santa Fe and wanting to see the main tourist attractions. The house was clean and the kitchen was well-equipped for us to prepare meals. The private entrance (with a gate and lock) is nice since the main entrance faces a well-traveled road. George was kind enough to check in with us via text message and to answer any questions if needed. I think the main downside for us was that the house instructions say not to adjust the heat settings which is set for 66 degrees in the main room. The house doesn't seem to circulate air very well and because it was quite cold and rainy one night (late November timeframe), we just bundled up (which was fine). It would also be good if there was a curtain on the kitchen window since it looks directly into the neighbor's house, which is very close. Overall, we are pleased with this property and its location. Thank you!

Owner's Response: Good feedback. Kitchen window curtain will go back up next week. All thermostats now on for both gas heaters and the 3 electric baseboard heaters in bedrooms.

Charming Adobe

  • 5 of 5

Charming adobe 9/10 of a mile from the Plaza. The walk along the Santa Fe River is restorative and the neighborhood is quaint; such a lovely neighborhood loaded with character, historic casitas, trees, sidewalks, a park, and families with kids. The adobe itself has 3-feet thick walls and outside noise is not a factor. I travel with a machine that makes white noise, and was unable to hear the house "talking" when I slept. The casita is nicely decorated and very comfortable. Alongside the vigas, there are large sky lights in the kitchen and living room, and they fill the house with light. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes and anything one could ever need. There is a double sink, a full-size fridge, as well as a full-size dishwasher. The bathroom is roomy; the master bedroom is also roomy with so much storage space. The house is uber private with the enclosed drive which forms a courtyard; I loved the off-street parking.

Everything about the casita was as George described it. George was very courteous and prompt in answering my questions. Will recommend to any friends that may be planning a trip to Santa Fe.

very comfortable and very nice

  • 5 of 5

This is a very pleasant and comfortable home with a small yard for our dogs to lounge around. Nicely appointed decor, great layout, and fully stocked kitchen, and close to everything yet seems a world of its own in a nice neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again as we pass through and explore the area.

Sleep Quality.

  • 2 of 5

This house is as described for the most part. Our problem was that we were unable to get a full night’s sleep our entire stay and decided to leave a day early because of that. The house literally sits on the corner and neighborhood traffic drives by the bedroom wall within a foot or two at the most. That made it difficult to fall asleep and sleep in. The biggest problem however, is that the house makes “popping” noises at night. The pops were loud enough to wake both of us several times each night and my husband is not a light sleeper. A warning does appear in the welcome letter so that visitors are not alarmed. Something to do with the weather changing it says. That’s not much comfort when you are awakened in the middle of the night and tired in the morning.

Owner's Response: I am sorry about these guests not getting a good night's sleep. Traditional adobe properties do sometimes creak a bit during seasons of changing temperatures like in the Fall. I had noted this in my orientation documents so as not to alarm anyone if they heard it. I realize that some people are more sensitive than others to house noises they are not used to - including a few outside cars. The walls are over 3 ft thick and if the wide windows are left open, some traffic noise may be audible from inside.

Charming Casita!

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I stayed at Flying Adobe Casita for a week. The casita is clean, very comfortable and in a great location. We liked that we had our own space with two bedrooms, and found the casita to be very cozy. George is extremely easy to work with and he answered our questions immediately.

We walked to the Plaza, downtown galleries and shops, and up Canyon Road. We especially enjoyed the Georgia O'Keefe Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts, the open-air city tour, and the Santa Fe Museum of Indian Arts and Culture on Museum Hill. There are very nice restaurants near the casita and many more to choose from downtown.

We thought we would do a lot more than we did, but there is so much to see and do around the Santa Fe area. We visited three Native American Pueblos, hiked Bandelier National Monument and Kasha-Katuew Tent Rocks National Monument. The area is spectacular!

We would love to go back and certainly recommend Flying Adobe Casita!!
