As a private pilot, I enjoy flying from California out to my FlyingAdobe casita in Santa Fe. I love the weather, people, cuisine, hiking outdoors, and culture of Santa Fe. With high speed wireless internet access, I am able to stay connected with my business back in San Diego while enjoying all that Santa Fe has to offer.
George purchased this house in 2007
Walking distance to the Plaza and newly developed Railyard district in town. Quiet historic neighborhood dating back to early 1600s.
Private yard with view of mountains, great for traveling pets and dining al fresco in summer.
My husband and I enjoyed three terrific days in Santa Fe. Our stay at the Flying Adobe was comfortable and conveniently located within a 10 minute walk to the Plaza. The casita offered two rooms in addition to the bedroom, as well as a fully stocked kitchen with a table large enough to seat 4 comfortably. We hope to return soon!
This home is conveniently located for those visiting Santa Fe and wanting to see the main tourist attractions. The house was clean and the kitchen was well-equipped for us to prepare meals. The private entrance (with a gate and lock) is nice since the main entrance faces a well-traveled road. George was kind enough to check in with us via text message and to answer any questions if needed. I think the main downside for us was that the house instructions say not to adjust the heat settings which is set for 66 degrees in the main room. The house doesn't seem to circulate air very well and because it was quite cold and rainy one night (late November timeframe), we just bundled up (which was fine). It would also be good if there was a curtain on the kitchen window since it looks directly into the neighbor's house, which is very close. Overall, we are pleased with this property and its location. Thank you!
Charming adobe 9/10 of a mile from the Plaza. The walk along the Santa Fe River is restorative and the neighborhood is quaint; such a lovely neighborhood loaded with character, historic casitas, trees, sidewalks, a park, and families with kids. The adobe itself has 3-feet thick walls and outside noise is not a factor. I travel with a machine that makes white noise, and was unable to hear the house "talking" when I slept. The casita is nicely decorated and very comfortable. Alongside the vigas, there are large sky lights in the kitchen and living room, and they fill the house with light. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes and anything one could ever need. There is a double sink, a full-size fridge, as well as a full-size dishwasher. The bathroom is roomy; the master bedroom is also roomy with so much storage space. The house is uber private with the enclosed drive which forms a courtyard; I loved the off-street parking.
Everything about the casita was as George described it. George was very courteous and prompt in answering my questions. Will recommend to any friends that may be planning a trip to Santa Fe.
This is a very pleasant and comfortable home with a small yard for our dogs to lounge around. Nicely appointed decor, great layout, and fully stocked kitchen, and close to everything yet seems a world of its own in a nice neighborhood. We would definitely stay here again as we pass through and explore the area.
This house is as described for the most part. Our problem was that we were unable to get a full night’s sleep our entire stay and decided to leave a day early because of that. The house literally sits on the corner and neighborhood traffic drives by the bedroom wall within a foot or two at the most. That made it difficult to fall asleep and sleep in. The biggest problem however, is that the house makes “popping” noises at night. The pops were loud enough to wake both of us several times each night and my husband is not a light sleeper. A warning does appear in the welcome letter so that visitors are not alarmed. Something to do with the weather changing it says. That’s not much comfort when you are awakened in the middle of the night and tired in the morning.
Other Activities: archeological sites, art galleries, cultural events, hiking trails in mountains.
No Smoking Property; Off-street gated courtyard for parking.
