This lovely, tastefully decorated 3 BR home is 4/10 mile from the soft sands of spectacular Good Harbor Beach. Whether taking a morning walk or packing a cooler and chair, you're a short walk away. All 3 cozy bedrooms are on the 2nd floor as is the full size bath. A 1/2 bath with washer/dryer is on the first floor off of the open kitchen. The large 16X22 deck and private backyard are perfect for after beach barbeque's. That is, after you've rinsed off the sand in the spacious enclosed outdoor shower. Downtown Gloucester, Rt 128 and Rockports Bearskin neck are minutes away.
The location and amenities make this a perfect home away from home for families with children of all ages.
I grew up in Gloucester and still have family living there. If you need any recommendations for points of interest, restaurants, or activities I would be happy to offer my suggestions. This property has a lot of privacy in the back yard. The beach is only 1/2 mile away.
We visited this vacation home in mid April, 2008. All of us were very comfortable from the time we first opened the door. It was clean and cozy. Having a family room and a livingroom was great because those who didn't want to watch TV, could sit by the fireplace.
The layout was perfect for 4 single women. I would recommend it for families as well. The sheets and blankets were provided, along with more than enough towels for everyone. This saved a lot of space in the vehicle, so we were able to shop till we dropped.
The backyard deck provided lots of space to sit in the sun. The property was large and well maintained, so children would have a place to run around.
We originally intended to stay in Cape Cod, but it was too expensive. So we chose this location. There was a lovely beach, just a few blocks away, which was great for walks along the coast.
(By the way, we drove to Cape Cod and found it was not all it was cracked up to be.)
We were within a 30 minute drive to New Hampshire and a further 18 miles from Maine, so there was a lot to do. The location could not have been better.
Believe it or not, there was even a train close by to travel into Boston without using the car.
If you eat at the Causeway Restaurant, order one meal for two people and take it home. It's far too much for one person. The Chicken Parmesan was delicious.
As for the owners, they were very friendly and helpful. A light was left on for us, because we arrived late. A note was waiting on the counter to provide any help we might need.
We would stay in this area again, it was very peaceful and relaxing.
We have stayed in this house for a summer vacation several times over the last few years. We have travelled from Ireland and also spent our holidays in various other parts of the US, but this house in Gloucester continues to be our favourite. This was our first time staying in Fall/wintertime and we found it equally appealing. Extremely comfortable, spacious and well equipped. The owners have consistently been most helpful and friendly. Within easy walking distance to the beach, and also close to shops and good restaurants, yet in a quiet and private neighbourhood , it ticks all the boxes for us. We'll be back!
It was clean but also outdated - did not like having to make beds and then strip and wash all linens for the price we paid. Nothing close by to walk to - beach was a little further than we were led to believe. BBQ grill did not work and toilet seats were both broken. Owner was aware of toilet seats so I am sure they will get replaced. King bedroom doorknob did not work. Pricey for the amenities.
We had an enjoyable stay on Starknaught Road. The house is very nice, very clean. They provided specific instructions about their expectations for leaving the house just the way we found it for the next person. The appliances were in very good condition, we cooked for about 20 people and the kitchen was stocked with everything we needed.
The price is very reasonable for such a big house. It provided lots of privacy and it’s just a short walk to the beach. The beautiful beach!
It was a pleasure to do business with Mike King. He responded promptly to my inquires and offered help from his brother or father if we needed anything. Nice guy.
It was my first trip to New England in many years. I still can’t get over how beautiful Gloucester is. If you’re looking for a family get-away, it doesn’t get any better than #177143.
Great house tucked away but so close to the each. Mike is always so responsive if there are any questions. Thanks for another fabulous week!!
We just stayed at this house - 5 adults and 3 kids and it was the perfect amount of space. Lots of cool things for young kids to do - including wild turkeys who wander the property. It's a short walk to the beach, and the town is super fun. Highly recommend it. The only thing that threw me off is it's a little hard to find the first time and the house might be a different color from the photo? Great place to stay!
Beaches, parks, shopping, antiques, boating, golf, music, fine dining, fresh seafood. Many of the restaurants have live music nightly in the summertime. Bearskin neck in Rockport has quaint shops, stores, and artisans. Downtown Gloucester is host to many restaurants, shops, whale watches.
