The Stoddard house is as rich in history as it is in appearance. Built in 1898, the classic, white house retains it's original grandeur, with vaulted ceilings throughout, double parlor, and Red Fir floors. Enter through this spectacular home through beautiful gardens where you will always find something in bloom. Crest the stairs and take a moment to imagine a time long past. Among the homes cache of treasures is the fireplace (non-operable), rescued from a residence that was regrettably destroyed for office buildings downtown and adorned with ceramic, nude tiles from France. Bouquets of glass flowers are suspended from chandeliers, and the light that Napa Valley is famous for, streams through the grand windows.

Old world meets new in this fashionably appointed prize. After two years of renovations a local interior designer has assisted the Stoddard House in reclaiming her glory. An eclectic mix of over one hundred years of chic includes contemporary, Asian, Victorian and Art Deco influences. Settle in with a book in the library, soak up the sumptuousness in a bath, or unwind outside in the gazebo with a glass of Napa Valley bubbly. Meet in the parlor and take a seat in one of the leather club chairs or on the mohair sofa and revisit the pleasures of conversation.

Stroll down Napa's most prestigious street into the heart of the downtown area. Dine at one of a multitude of world class restaurants, visit boutique shops or sample Napa's finest at a wine bar. It's a short drive to scores of vineyards and wineries and all that the Napa Valley has to offer!

About The Owner

If only there were more moments like this!

The Owner purchased this house in 2005

Why The Owner chose Napa

My Grandparent's lived next door to this house, and I admired it my whole life. When it came up for sale, I could not resist! It's the kind of home that begs to be shared.

What makes this house unique

A historical gem, this house will really give you the feel of old Napa Valley and vacation. Your proximity to town, just a short stroll, and to St. Helena Highway and all the wineries along it, is ideal. The gardens, planted by the previous owner who ran a floral shop out of the garage, are magnificent and oh, so, relaxing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

The house is a perfect place to relax and share time with family. Everything that we could possibly wish for is here and the access to Napa and the lovely region is perfect. We enjoyed a day on the wine train, visits to some small wineries, and side trips to Oakland and San Francisco. What a wonderful week and always nice to return to this gorgeous home.

Charming and perfect house to stay in, great location and had everything we needed.

  • 5 of 5

Met my long time friends for the weekend, loved staying home for breakfast and exploring during the day, then coming home to cook dinner and relax and catch up. The rooms were wonderful, the beds were comfy....we'd definitely think of renting it again someday. Thank you for the cute hospitality.

Lovely Victorian home, but a tad uncomfortable

  • 3 of 5

The Stoddard House is in a great location to Napa and is a beautiful Victorian home. The kitchen has new appliances and rooms are spacious. The beds are comfortable, although the rooms were sparcely furnished and the one bathroom did not have much counter space. It was adequate for a weekend and we enjoyed the Napa area. For the four of us, the house was not the most comfortable living space. The furniture was not conducive to sitting around to enjoy each others company. The couch, although big enough to hold four people, was not appropriate for group gatherings. In addition, it was not comfortable to sit on for any length of time. We would have had to rearrange furniture to be able to face one another. The television was small and also not accessible to more than one person really. We had wanted to see the news, since we had family and friends in the hurricane areas, yet it was difficult for all of us to see the screen. We did love the architecture and victorian features of the house!

Wonderful Historic House in Downtown Napa

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I loved our stay at the Stoddard House. So much charm and historic detail in this house. The house has everything you need and is easy access to downtown Napa and Rt 29 to get up and down Napa Valley for wine tasting. Thank you for the comfortable stay while in Napa!

Great location!

  • 5 of 5

We were in for the bottlerock concert over Memorial Day Weekend. The house was beautiful and had basically everything we needed. Close to downtown, great for the concert. We rented bikes to get there but could have easily walked. The house was charming and quiet. We would definitely recommend.
