Mark and Ashley are a husband and wife team that have one foot planted firmly in Chicago. As a former Chicago resident for 10 years, Ashley has both friends and family in Chicago. We have twins who love to visit Chicago! They both know that Dad's favorite building is the Hancock.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2008
There is only one Gold Coast in Chicago and this historical building is in the heart of it. Our endeavor started out with simply wanting a place to stay when we would visit and eventually use in retirement. We love Chicago and all the City has to offer...from great food, to world class shopping, to museums, architecture, sports, beaches...you name it and Chicago has it all.
The location cannot be beat. Chicago's epicenter for nightlife is at the end of the block with fabulous restaurants like Gibson's, Tavern On Rush, Morton's, etc. coming together in a perfect triangular parklike setting. If you want to feel like a true Chicago resident in one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Chicago, this is the place. The tree-lined street is a perfect prelude to your arrival at this historical building. Shopping on Michigan Avenue is just a block away as well. It's an AMAZING location!
I can't imagine a better location for a weekend get-away to Chicago. Reasonably priced public parking is conveniently located steps away. The unit is comfortable and quaint. Wonderful restaurants and shopping is right outside your doorway.
We really loved the brownstone. Lots of stairs so make sure you can tolerate them. It is really cute and in such a great location. Only downside was upon arrival, we were having toilet issues. Called the owner twice and emailed with no response. We left for a few hours thinking we were coming back to a broken toilet. It was working when we got back. Not sure if it just started working or if someone came in to fix it. Either way, the owner never responded to three attempts to communicate with him. Kind of rude.
The property is beautiful and located right in the middle of everything. The really neat thing is that the neighborhood itself is very quiet. There is a pack n play for any parents out there. We recommend this property without reservation to anyone looking to have a wonderful stay in the city.
We could not have found a better place to stay. Everything is as stated in the description, and more. Location is perfect; close to the beach, restaurants, and public transit. The bed is so comfortable, I want to take it home. We had a minor problem upon arrival that was handled in record time with upmost courtesy. We are excited to come back next year. Thank you.
This third floor walk-up apartment is perfectly situated in one of the most convenient areas of Chicago, especially for public transportation/groceries/drugstore/etc. Neighborhood and building are very quiet and safe. The city was unusually hot/humid and we stayed cool and comfortable. Rooms are spacious and apartment is well stocked. The bathtub is worn and the tub needs to be replaced. Good water pressure. The bath rug looked dirty and worn. Wish owner would remodel bathroom. Also expected personal confirmation email one week before we arrived per other VRBOs. Waiting until 3 days before we left town for access info. left us with a very uneasy feeling. Our emails for info. were not answered within 24 hrs.
Half a block to Oak Street Beach and around the corner from the heart of the Mag Mile. You cannot get this type of convenience by staying in Lincoln Park, Wrigleyville, or South Loop. A perfect mixture of tree-lined street, neighborhood charm and being in the heart of the action that is downtown Chicago.
