Typical Santa Fe

  • 4 of 5

This is a warm and cozy apartment with lots of sunlight and an adequate kitchen. It's best feature is location, being just three long blocks from the plaza. One improvement would be replacement of an overly soft mattress on the queen bed. Quiet neighborhood and off-street parking are a plus.

Santa Fe Casita

  • 5 of 5

This casita is quite lovely and the owners were very responsive to needs and questions about the house and about Santa Fe. Two of us shared the house and we occasionally had friends over to share meals. The living areas outside the bedrooms were welcoming and held lots of good times and laughter. It was wonderful to be able to open window and feel the cool morning air.

Its a great way to have a hideaway in downtown Santa Fe.

A wonderful place to stay

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed staying in Ralph and Sabine’s comfortable casita. It is in a great location, walking distance not only from the plaza but also from Travel Bug, a café with vegan treats that is part of a travel store, and a small grocery store (Kaune’s), pharmacy and another café. It is also extremely quiet. Some nights we slept with the windows open and listened to the crickets. And we definitely took advantage of both the small patio and the lovely garden. It was really nice to have some outdoor space.

Both of us were working while in Santa Fe, so having an upstairs and a downstairs was really helpful. I especially appreciated the desk with the keyboard shelf that was downstairs. And the internet worked well.

There is more to the casita than is shown in the photos, such as ceiling fans in the living room and in the bedroom, although we used the one in the bedroom only a couple of times. There is also a small dining table in the living room and chairs on the patio. And both of the beds are very comfortable (we had an extra guest one of the weekends we were there). The kitchen was great for preparing simple meals. Everything was very clean.

The casita was cool and pleasant when the days were warm, but when the weather turned rainy and chilly, Ralph came over and lit the heater and everything was toasty warm.

We stayed for a little longer than 3 weeks, and we definitely hope to stay here the next time we are in Santa Fe.

This home is very quiet, conveniently located but dated.

  • 2 of 5

As said the home is only 2 blocks from Canyon Road with all its art and restaurants and maybe a quarter of a mile from the plaza. The home sits in a small assortment of small offices and is very quiet during the day and even more quiet at night. It is mostly clean and seemed very safe with great off street parking. Our two biggest problems were an overly soft bed and a 14" TV screen with only 4 local channels. There are no cable channels .. We had a good visit in Santa Fe inspite of the issues with the home. The home owners were delightful.

Just what we wanted

  • 5 of 5

The location was even better than we expected. Easy walking distance to the plaza and canyon rd. Not fancy, but cozy, comfortable, clean and we felt right at home. Best for a single, 1 couple or couple with a child as the bathroom is only accessible through the main bedroom upstairs. There is a single futon in the basement but no other bathroom. Fully equipped, clean and very quiet at night for a restful good nights sleep. Owners were very available and helpful as we settled in ( we were a bit travel weary). There is a sweet, little garden seating area for an afternoon glass of wine or cup of tea. We spent most of our time exploring canyon rd galleries and going to museums downtown ( IAIA, Art, Contemporary Art, and Govenors Palace, on Museum Hill ( Folkart and Native American Art and Culture). On Canyon rd we loved The Teahouse for lunch or late afternoon refreshment; we did not have dinner here but expect it would be just as satisfying as lunch. Downtown we loved the tiny Palacio Cafe on Palace st for lunch and breakfast (excellent chicken enchiladas, pozole, salad with pears; also delicious breakfast). We had a delicious dinner and breakfast at Tune Up on Hickox st. When on Museum Hill the cafe there is also excellent. Our week here was a perfect anniversary get away; we could not see and do everything we wanted, so we will just need to come again. We also enjoyed meeting so many interesting, warm, friendly Santa Feans. This made our stay even more memorable. We don't seek luxury, and this private, quiet, cozy apt suited us very much. We would recommend this apt to our friends. We hope to go to Santa Fe again, and this would be our first choice accommodation.
