A lovely apartment in a beautiful location.
We stayed in this accommodation for 10 days and used it as a base to explore the surrounding area. The property is really lovely - very clean with everything necessary for self catering in the fully equipped kitchen. Having the use of a washing machine was a particular bonus. Lozzo itself is a small town but has all the necessary amenities - a big supermarket close by and smaller shops within walking distance of the apartment. There are a couple of bars and a good restaurant/pizzeria also within walking distance. Lozzo was an excellent base to reach the main ranges of the Dolomite mountains and also to visit nearby towns (eg Cortina, Auronzo etc) and not too far away from the Austrian border. The owner, Tullia, who speaks excellent English could not have been more helpful and was in regular contact before we arrived and lives nearby the flat. I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment to friends and family and would love to return here again
Lovely apartment in Lozzo di Cadore
This clean, modern, spacious 3 bedroom apartment is well appointed and even has a washing machine and dishwasher. Lozzo di Cadore is not a tourist town, but an quiet, authentic village with steep streets, a good restaurant ("La Favorita"), a super market, and beautiful mountain views.
Don't miss driving up to the Pian di Buoi and and the short steep walk to the Rifugio Ciaredo for a delicious lunch.
A "Great little Gem" in the Village.
This apartment was perfect for our family of 6 Adults. Lozzo is Mums home town ( 2nd time back for her since childhood). Tullia was wonderful and I highly praise her for being so accommodating and patience, for our need to change dates and late arrival due to weather. She greeted the family and made everyone feel at home, then kept in touch to ensure everything was ok and if there was anything she could do for us.
This wonderful apartment is on the high part of town and has beautiful views across the village to the mountains, it is roomy, very modern, and being quiet has a relaxed feeling, with ample parking for our 2 cars.It is a perfect location to wander around exploring this beautiful little village, finding the Old Mill near the creek and the beautiful old church on the outskirts of town. It is also a great base to do drives to the tourist areas of Auronzo, Cortina, Lake Misurina or over the Austrian boarder.
We stayed for just over a week and wished it was longer. On leaving Tullia came to say goodbye.
Not only was she a fabulous host, but now a lovely new friend and we still keep in touch.
I would definitely recommend / stay here again next visit. It is a lovely little Gem of a place and so is she.
The Cadore region is a tourist destination but Lozzo is not a tourist town in the same way that Auronzo is. So this, among other things, is the unique feature of Lozzo. As you see from the photos, there are stunning views around you but there is also the delightful experience of wandering through the streets and laneways of a village that has not lost its rustic charm. As for the apartment, it's got everything. We were two people in a 3 bedroom apartment, what a luxury. If you prefer tranquility over hustle and bustle, then this is the place for it (except of course for the church bells but in Italy you can't escape those). Tullia is an excellent host always ready to please.
Thank you very much for this amazing review. Hope to see you again in Lozzo, one day.
Fabulous stay for our family.
We had a fabulous, fabulous stay in Lozzo. Tullia is a delightful person. We were 5 adults traveling (all family members), no children. The apartment is everything described. The mountain views have to be seen - they are breathtaking. The apartment is very spacious, very clean, well stocked with pots and pans and dishware if you wanted to cook. We don't cook on vacation, but do make coffee.
We got lost on the way due to road construction and poor markings at the road construction. All of Italy seems to be poorly marked as far as street signs go. Unfortunately we were extremely late arriving. Bar LaRosa was open and a very nice gentleman in there helped us find our way to the apartment (can't thank him enough; he spoke no English, we speak no Italian but he was more than willing to help us). Tullia stayed up until we got there (hours later than we anticipated) - bless her!
On the way to see Auronzo, where my grandfather is from, we stopped to eat at Bar Bob's Restaurant (there is a bobsled outside to mark it). Fabulous homemade food, owner (Max) speaks English. We ate there twice, and will eat there again if we return.
We hope to return to Lozzo, and will definitely want to stay here. Now we know our way around. I highly recommend this place. We made full use of the apartment and garage. There are many stairs to climb if you park in the garage. There is a driveway around to the back of the building which would lessen the number of stairs if someone had trouble with them, but there are still stairs inside the building to climb to get to the apartment (no elevator).
Modern, clean apartment with a stunnning view. Highly recommended!
We are a family of 5 (parents, children aged 14, 12 and 8). We spent 12 nights in this apartment and were absolutely delighted with our first holiday in the Dolomites.
The apartment is *exactly* as described and pictured in the details. It is spotlessly clean and well-equipped (dishwasher, cooking equipment, crockery, washing machine, modern shutters on every window, plenty of storage, a shower room, a bathroom, towels, sheets, drying rack).
The main attraction is the stunning view from the balcony, living-diner and master bedroom. It looks over the rooftops of the village and beyond to a breathtaking mountain view. There's also some outdoor space with a picnic table and an area which is big enough for brief spells of outdoor play - we found a couple of playgrounds in the village too (one with a football pitch and one on the way to the Shrine of Madonna di Loreto with play equipment).
Lozzo di Cadore is a quiet town with few tourists, but we found everyone we encountered to be friendly and welcoming - the neighbours in the apartment below, the staff at the local restaurant (La Favorita - low key, good value, nice pizza and other dishes!); people we passed along the way on our walks. The apartment owner was extremely responsive and helpful, both before the trip and during our stay. She speaks excellent English and was pleasant and welcoming, without being intrusive - exactly the riight balance.
We used the apartment as a base to explore the area: we walked from Auronzo a couple of times; walked directly from the apartment up onto the Pian dei Boui (stunning views!!); and from Lake Misurina. The Dolomites are well worth a visit - not only breathtaking views, but spectacular wild flowers and birdlife. We're not expert hikers, but we found plenty of easy-medium walks which kept us busy and happy. The kids loved being in the outdoors. We also drove to Venice for the day (1hr, 40min drive) and easily found parking (with a tip from the apartment owner). It's a beautiful city and easily accessible for a day trip from this location.
I've already recommended this apartment to friends and family - and can only give a hearty recommendation here too. It respresents excellent value for money!
The apartment is located in the upper part of the country, while being convenient to the central square (five minute walk).
Lozzo, then, it is a few km from Auronzo, by Misurina and the Three Peaks.
At about ten minutes by car is Pieve di Cadore, birthplace of Titian common, while in about half an hour you can reach Cortina d'Ampezzo and the Dolomites most beautiful.
