Comfortable, clean, convenient location, cosy cottage where we felt at home.
We were met by the owner who showed us the cottage and clued us in re pubs, eateries, takeaways and things to do in the area. All very helpful (as were the provisions he left for us). Cottage is very comfortable and cosy and spotlessly clean - comfy beds, lovely bathroom, spacious and convenient kitchen (although it's about to be refurbished, we thought it was fine), comfy sofa and chairs in the sitting room + big screen tv. Modern comforts in an old cottage of character. Lovely back yard, too, with sun (if it shines!) in the afternoon - managed to sit out for a short while. For another stay in Woodstock, would try to book here first.
Thanks for your review!
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and would welcome you back the next tine you come to Woodstock.
Lovely cottage in an ideal location for visiting Blenheim Palace and the City of Oxford
We have visited Oxford numerous times and booked the cottage for its close location Blenheim Palace and other places of interest.
The cottage is quite charming and very clean, beds were very comfortable so we all slept pretty well. The enclosed yard at the back of the house was ideal for relaxing in the sun.
The cottage is ideally situated with a car par close by and we always managed to find a space there after our days out.
The bus service to Oxford City Centre is very frequent and close by and avoiding the hassles of trying to find parking spaces near the High Street.
Great house and location
Wonderful stay in Woodstock wish we could stay longer. Owner of the house met is on arrival and gave us some great advice on the area
Clean and close to everything.
The courtyard was a must.
Lovely Christmas stay in cozy Woodstock Cottage
Stayed at the cottage for 10 days thru Christmas until New Years Eve. We are a family with 2 college aged kids.
We had a nice welcome from Allan when we arrived. He provided a small 'essentials' grocery package to get us started in case of a late arrival, this was really appreciated. He also gave us a brief overview of the Cottage and helpful advice on things to see and do in the area. Excellent.
The Cottage itself is small but cozy. Enough for the 4 of us. A Christmas tree and decorations had been put up, which was a nice touch. The Cottage was clean and comfortable. The only negatives were the small kitchen and the Fridge relegated to the cupboard under the stairs - which had a strange unpleasant smell. Parking is a small walk away, in a public car park, we never had any issue finding a space but we can see that it might be a problem at certain times of day.
The location is great - just off from the town square, with some terrific Bars and Restaurants within easy reach. Also within very short walks are a Convenience Store and the BusStop to Oxford (a great day there...). Blenheim Palace is an easy walk and terrific place to spend a day.
Overall a great stay (even the weather cooperated - cold but no rain) we highly recommend the location and the Cottage (for small families).
IT WAS AMAZING AND HAD A WONDERFUL & COMFORTABLE STAY.
The cottage was very comfortable and clean.
All the facilities were up to our expectations and the location is very good.
The owner is extremely helpful and was always in touch.
I would definately recommend this property to all concerned.
There are lots of things to do, depending on how active you want to be. Blenheim Palace and Grounds, a world heritage site is on your doorstep. About 300 metres from the cottage, enter the famous grounds, (The park was landscaped in 1764 by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. The Palace was built by Sir John Vanbrough from 1722 to 1784.) Oxford City, The City of Dreaming Spires!. I'd recommend that you take the S3 bus, it stops 30m from the door, into the city. (Oxford has a parking problem!, if you can find a space it's quite expensive!), also, travelling by bus you can relax. Look around the colleges and parks, enjoy a drink by the river, or a meal in one of the many restaurants. If you want to travel, try, Bicester Village designer outlet park. Famous designer names as 'outlet' prices! The more you buy, the more you save!. (About 30Km.) Cotswold Wildlife Park. Spend time amongst the animals, great for children and adults alike!! (about 40Km,) A gentle drive into the 'Cotswolds'. Visit the small towns and villages such as Black Bourton, Stow on the Wold, and many other interesting places. London is only100 km away, drive yourself by car, or take the coach or train from Oxford. (an easy option, and the coach is cheaper!)
