A special post & beam country estate perched up on a quiet, country road with sprawling lawns, stonewalls and scenic mountain views. A perfect venue for a family retreat, corporate outing or mountain getaway. The 'HAMPSHIRE HOUSE', built in the 1930's by a prominent Washington diplomat as a mountain retreat, is the essence of comfortable elegance, featuring oak walls, exposed beams, hardwood floors, 4 fireplaces, fan -tailed, palladian windows, vaulted wood ceilings, custom built-ins, portico, and a mahogany deck with view - all on a 12 acre estate setting with mature trees and plantings. The home is furnished and accessorized like a primary home with upscale kitchen wear, 4 flat screen TV's, satellite TV, high end bedding and furnishings and tasteful accents. Located within 15-45 minutes of many-acclaimed White Mountain attractions, including Bretton Woods, Cannon Mountain, Loon Mountain, Franconia Notch, Sugar Hill and Littleton. There is direct access to hiking and snowmobile trails. Pets allowed with owner approval.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Chris:

Thank you so much for the rental of your house, it is beautiful, we just loved it. There was lots of snow, Lisbon even lost power for a day due to a storm, so the skiing was great. So nice to have such a cozy place to come back to. Beautiful property also. The girls loved just sledding in the yard.

All the best, Patricia

Very Disappointed & Very Misleading

  • 1 of 5

I'm usually not the type to write a bad review, but we were very disappointed with our stay. The online description and photos of this property are very misleading. The house is in need of major repairs and updating (inside and outside). The owner did allow us to check in early, which was greatly appreciated. The house however was dirty, things just thrown under beds and crammed in closets. Very little lighting, lamps just sitting in random places unplugged with very little outlets. All of the routers and cords in the living room were unplugged and piled up in the floor next to the couch. The furniture is very old and heavily used, one lamp shade just fell off the lamp in the living room because it was so dry rotted, one of the chairs at the card table was patched with duct tape and the living room furniture had cardboard under the cushions and completely filled with dirt and crumbs. The foosball table was broken and just laying in the corner of the room. My dads bedroom upstairs had dust bunnies and junk crammed under his bed. We all stripped our beds and washed the linens to make sure they were cleaned because our bed had dog hair all over the comforter (and not from my dogs). I mopped the whole house and had to clean the mop bucket three times before the water wasn't black. I cleaned several of the windows because they we're filthy (it turned the paper towels black). We even had to vacuum the pool table off just to play because it was covered in dog hair and food crumbs. When doing the laundry there was a basket of folded laundry sitting on the

dryer. Apparently someone lives there full time it seems like and just leaves when it's rented out. The kitchen had several personal items that previous renters would not have left behind like dog food and spices and sauces, etc. which housekeeping normally throws out before new tenants come in. The outside of the house has several places around the windows and on the columns that are completely rotted out. Cold air was just pouring in around the doors and most of the windows. I understand this is an older house, but it should not be on the rental market under the current conditions it's in. Especially when it's being portrayed as an "Elegant Country Estate " , because it is NOT. The sad thing is, it has so much potential. We were all so excited to spend our holiday vacation together in what we thought was going to be a beautiful, relaxing, clean home.

Excellent vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

This vacation home was wonderful! My husband, two children with their spouses and 1/1/2 year old sons spent the thanksgiving vacation in this home. I can't begin to say how much we enjoyed staying there, right in Lisbon, new hampshire, the home is in a perfect location, central to many attractions and sites. The home itself has so much to do , you don't even have to leave it to have a great time! Its perfect! The perfect family vacation no matter what the season! Theres so much to do, yet relaxing is just great too, And Chris is great! He's so nice and accommodating! You can't ask for a better vacation! Everything was just how it was listed, I would 100% recommend this vacation home, and dealing with Chris was a very pleasant experience. Cant wait to book our next vacation there, 5 days was not enough! The best vacation ever, this home has everything! Thank you so much Chris for a wonderful vacation home, look forward to our next stay! Elisa

Wonderful Winter School vacation

  • 5 of 5

A magnificent house with a lot of space for children to play and romantic getaway for adults. We had a wonderful time, visited Littletown almost every day, we love it, while there, don't forget to visit Chutters (?) the World Guinness Candy store. We also celebrated my 50th birthday with my family, the best birthday ever. The house is equipped with everything that you possible need to have wonderful meals. Thank you Chris, we will do it again!!

A relaxing vacation with cosy log fires in evening

  • 4 of 5

An impressive house with classical features secluded amongst the trees, plenty of space both inside and out for relaxing and the library provides a small den if the family get a little boisterous. The kitchen is well equipped and there is good dinner wear, placemats, etc. The lack of lighting in some of the bedrooms would be a drawback if the house is fully occupied and some bathrooms lack shelves for conveniently placing toiletries. Bathroom lights switch on/off by pull cords above the sink too high for children and small adults and you have to grope around in dark room to find cord.

In Lisbon park behind the Village Book Store on the lower floor of the store is the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen - top quality stuff, then upstairs to book store is good for local books and a coffee. South of Lisbon on the 302 the Bath General Store oldest general store in US. Turn left at bottom of Hodge Hill Road and visit Landaff village pure rural New Hampshire.
