About Sherri Mansell
My husband and I have 4 children ages 12 - 25 and live in South Florida. We have vacationed in western NC for over 25 years where my parents have a home.
Sherri Mansell purchased this Cabin in 2008
Why Sherri Mansell chose Black Mountain
We chose this location in Black Mountain because it's a very quaint town with great restaurants and so close to the city of Asheville with airport, universities and culture events.
What makes this Cabin unique
What we love best about our property is that we are located in the mountains surrounded by nature but have the luxuries of home and only 10 minutes to the grocery store and other amenities.

Mini vacation in Black Mountain
Black Mountain and the surrounding area is gorgeous. We loved the cabin and all the amenities it had to offer. The only negative was the road up to the cabin was terrible and our car took a beating.
Remote location but beautiful
This cabin in the woods was like being in your own private paradise. The location was very serene and beautiful. Our family of 6 enjoyed the solitude if nature as well as the modern conveniences of staying in a well stocked cabin with plenty of space. The game room and air hockey was a big hit with my kids and the hot tub kept my husband entertained. Bonus: the kids had limited cell phone service and remained unplugged and in touch! Close to Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and Catawba Falls. Downtown Black Mountain has nice restaurants and was eclectic. The only drawback was the steep mountain roads and bad grading in the neighborhood uphill- warning for cautious mini van drivers like us! However, the journey is often a big part of the destination and it was well worth it (:
We are glad you enjoyed the paradise! Sounds like you really enjoyed all the benefits that the area has to offer. The 1.5 mile gravel road to paradise sure beats the traffic in the city. Road is graded regularly but does develop bumps from weather conditions. Perfectly drivable for 2 wheel drive vehicles except for snow conditions.
Excellent cabin in peaceful setting
This cabin provides a lovely getaway, but is not too far up into the mountains which makes it relatively easy to get to shops and take day trips in various directions. We went to Lake Lure/Chimney Rock, Hendersonville, and Lake James during the days. The cabin is clean and the kitchen is well stocked to cook meals there, which we found helpful. Our kids enjoyed finding salamanders in the pond and we all enjoyed the fire pit and hiking trails. Black Mountain is a quaint town with a number of nice shops and restaurants. I would recommend this cabin! (Note, there are 2 springs missing on the sofa bed which could be fixed so that the extra sleeping space is available).
Thank you for your review! We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the cabin and the area! We appreciate your feedback regarding the springs on the bed. This is the first we hear of this and will have our maintenance team check it out immediately! We welcome you back anytime.
Wonderful place to stay. Thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub and nature trails on property. Loved watching the wild rabbits run around and the cardinal trying to peck our car side mirrors. Only challenge was the steep drive up a gravel road. Next time, I'm bringing a 4WD.
We had a very relaxing stay at this beautiful cabin. The game room was perfect for our kids and their cousins enjoyed the game room at the other cabin rental from same owners. The setting was so peaceful and we loved exploring the trails and pond area. As with all rentals...sometimes there are small issues that can come up at check in and the responsiveness of the owner was the best I have ever experienced! She even contacted me while she was on her own vacation in SPAIN to help us find some missing linens. I would definitely recommend this cabin for a fantastic mountain get away!
Enjoyed your beautiful home! We had a wonderful relaxing Easter weekend with our family!
