The house was in a good location close to Petoskey and Harbor Springs. I cannot say enough good things about the house. Everything in the house was clean from the bedrooms to the bathroom to the carpet. We even decided not to walk with shoes in the house due to how clean it was. We were a group of 14 and the house met all of our needs. There was even charcoal and lighter fluid for us to use. I dealt with Annie and she was very easy to talk to. She answered all my questions and gave me suggestions on what to do in the area. One thing that set the owner apart from the rest was when we first entered the house we found a personalized letter welcoming us and a box of cookies on the dining table. What a nice touch! We all decided that this is a house that we will definitely stay at again and again.
The house was everything we were looking for and more. It was in a good location in the woods and not far from Petoskey or Harbor Springs. The pictures on the website don't do the house justice, we got there and were in awe of how nice the house looked. It was very clean we didn't even walk with shoes in the house as we wanted it to remain as clean as it was. We were a group of 14 and the house met all of our needs. It was well stocked even with charcoal and lighter fluid. I dealt with Annie and she was really nice on the phone. She answered all my questions and was very easy to talk to. One thing that touched us was when we got in the house there was a personalized letter welcoming us and a box of cookies on the dining table. We all decided that this is a house we will definitely be visiting again.
This review is more about Paul than the house. This is the second year in a row that he bailed us out of a jam! Last year the house we had rented for my family's reunion was sold shortly before our stay and they had to cancel our reservations...this year the house we had rented was so horribly filthy there was no way we could stay there. I contacted Keystone rentals last year and they were able to set us up with this wonderful house...we were SO impressed with both the house and the service! This year I called Paul as a last ditch effort to find something clean - and he was able to do some juggling and get us in again. We are SO thankful!
This house is very well stocked! The set-up of bedrooms is great for multiple families (my father, brothers, sister, sister-in-law, nephews, niece-in-law, and my 5 kids had plenty of room). The basement is set up great for kids...one room has 2 sets of bunk beds, and another set of bunk beds is in an alcove of the great room...lots of room for the kids to play. Washer and dryer work great, and the area is beautiful! (The water even tastes great - coming from one who has to buy water to drink!)
The chalet is quite a bit farther north than we wanted to be....but it is near Harbor Springs and Petoskey...plenty to do and see. It is worth the trip.
For travelers with children...I would highly recommend the playgrounds at Harbor Springs school and Boyne City park. I recommend Bay View to everyone! Go up a block from the highway and check out the campus...absolutely beautiful!
I can highly recommend this chalet to anyone.
Stayed there for a get together in Aug of 2009 with friends from several states and one from the UK. It is an absolute beautiful area in the summer. The house was exactly what we needed. People we met in the area were friendly. Paul and Jennifer were very accommodating and easy to talk to. The house was very clean and the photos don't do it justice as far as comfort. Spent most of the time sitting on the deck. There is a decent sized convenience store a short walk away. I normally don't give 5-star ratings on many things, but I have to give this place top honors. It has already been decided that we will be back when it is my turn to host again. The only downside to it was a lack of wheelchair accessibility. The bathroom on the main floor would be difficult to get a wheelchair, or powered chair into. There was however room at the base of the stairs to the deck for a mobile ramp to be put down. It did not affect our group, but it would be difficult for me to take my father who is in a wheelchair, but could be done. This fact should not detract from it as it is in an excellent location for a lot of different activities, in all seasons.
