My critique is that the cabin needs a thorough cleaning. The lamp shades above the dining table contain a lot of debris in the bottom. The BBQ has dirty knobs and there is a pile of rust and debris under the grates. The outside mats are slippery when stepped on - not real safe. The bathroom door has some spots that could use a general cleaning. The bathtub has some spots that appear to be mold, which may be related to the central knob leaking. There were some cobwebs in the corners in some of the rooms. The toaster needs to be cleaned.

The good points are that the cabin was central to the places we visited. The master bedroom is nice and the fireplace was wonderful since it was a bit chilly. The kitchen contains everything you need for an extended stay. The location of the cabin is nice, we enjoyed seeing the fall aspens.

Owner's Response: This is a very popular cabin of ours because it's in a great location, it comes with everything you need, and it's priced just right for a couple looking to getaway for a last minute trip. However, over the busy summer season, because it's so popular, it get used to its fullest and gets worn in. Each year, we take the opportunity during slower fall and winter months to give our homes some TLC and we pass along the critiques to our owners, so they can think about replacing things and doing some maintenance. We're glad it still had some things to offer you even though it had been through a lot of rentals this summer. We'd love to have you stay again, in this or any other home we manage. Thank you again for staying with us. --Red Door Vacation Rentals

Loved our Cabin in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Perfect cabin for our first ever Colorado Vacation. It was everything we expected and more. The location couldn't have been better -- easy access to all the wonderful sight-seeing attractions nearby. The kitchen was fully furnished and even though we planned to cook/grill, we never did. Our 25 year daughter swiped the upstairs so the husband and I had the bedroom downstairs. Oh well, closer to the bathroom that way!! ha Enjoyed watching a momma deer and two babies on a daily basis. I know the sign says "don't feed the wildlife" but that's really hard to do when the momma deer walks right up to the deck and with those pitiful eyes, begs for a small treat !! By the way, she really liked fig newtons !! After long days of walking, it was nice to relax in the evening and put on a couple movies. Very nice variety. A big thanks to Lauren with Red Door Vacations for all her assistance in helping with our reservation -- smooth and easy. Once again, thank you for a wonderful stay in your lovely cabin. Hope to visit again in the future.

Great Cabin In The Woods. Perfect Location.

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time at the cabin, it was quiet, and we loved our stay there and would go back again. Great location just outside of the tourist attractions, easy to get to from the directions that were given to us. We actually made friends with some neighbors down the street and they were wonderful people. We will definitely book again with Red Door Vacations/VBRO/Home Away. We even had deer come up by the back porch. One night we had one come up and my 8 year old daughter gave it some carrots and she nearly ate it out of her hand, beautiful scenery.

Great cabin

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here for the Pike's Peak hillclimb race. It could maybe be a bit small for 4 adults if we had stayed for much longer than our 4 days, but we were comfortable and knew what to expect from the pictures. It was definitely preferable to a hotel. Very clean, great deck for grilling or watching the stars, some great hiking spots just a short drive away.

Owner's Response: We're so glad you had a great time. The race is such a great event during the summer! You're right, the home is small and is definitely meant for small groups, but I'm glad you still had a good time. We hope to see you again!
