Experience a bit of Sonoma Wine Country history. Rose Cottage is a jewel of a house and is listed by the Sonoma County Historical Society. Rose Cottage was built in the 1920s during the California Craftsman period but it is heavily influenced by the earlier Victorian era. It was among the earliest houses built in Agua Caliente Park, a resort area where San Francisco residents could escape from the summer fog.
The original charm was left intact, but it has been modernized for comfort and convenience with central heat and A/C. For the convenience of guests needing to 'keep in touch' there is high-speed internet, with wifi. The gourmet kitchen is fully equipped with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and a wine refrigerator. The master bath has an extra-large walk in shower, while the guest bathroom has a genuine claw-foot tub. There is a romantic fireplace in the master bedroom and french doors that lead to the private patio. We have had the pleasure of hosting over two dozen honeymooners! Period details include high ceilings, beautiful crown mouldings, board and batten walls and some of the original fir wood floors. There is flat panel TV in each bedroom; the flat panel in the main living area is connected to a Blu-ray/DVD player which is internet connected. We supply plenty of DVDs and a delightful selection of CDs, to suit every taste. If you have a NetFlix or Cinemax account you can login to watch movies just like at home.
The main living room, kitchen and dining area is open, providing an extra large space for entertaining and relaxing with family and friends. A great space for celebrating holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or just long weekends!
Rose Cottage is just minutes from the Sonoma Plaza (3.0 miles) for shopping and dining experiences, and within walking distance of the world famous Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa. Heading North on highway 12, you will visit dozens of the best wineries California has to offer.
Should you prefer to simply relax on the secluded, peaceful rear patio, it is fully equipped with gas BBQ, dining table, chairs and loungers. There is a charming front porch to watch the sun come up while having your morning coffee. From the porch, look out over the Heritage Rose garden, with its beautiful landscaping and majestic palm trees. When you close the elegant wrought iron fence behind you, you can leave the everyday behind and suspend time for just a little while.

My husband and I live near San Francisco and sometimes we just want to get away to some place that is quieter and slower. One of our favorite places is Sonoma. It is in the middle of wine country and moves at a much slower pace. The countryside is beautiful and the people are actually friendlier. We love older houses and when we first saw Rose Cottage we fell instantly in love with it. It has charm, character and a great setting only 3 miles from the Sonoma plaza. It is a great escape location and we love going there if only for a few days at a time.
Robert purchased this House in 2007
Why Robert chose Agua Caliente
Rose Cottage is just on the edge of winery row at the South end and you can be touring great wineries in a matter of minutes. It is not right in downtown so it is quieter and more relaxing. It is only a half mile from the Sonoma Mission Inn and SPA where we like to go for a glass of wine now and then.

We had a great stay for an extended weekend in the wine country. The house was charming and the grounds were beautiful. We really enjoyed the patio and the porch. We were surprised that it had AC which was great when the temperature was pushing 90 degrees. The nights were very relaxing with the windows open. The house was the perfect size for two couples. We didn't feel cramped at all. We would stay here again. Thanks Robert!
This place needs a makeover
Value for the money: 3 stars
Location- 5 stars
MBR: 4 stars, Second Bedroom: 2 stars- very hard uncomfortable mattress. Needs a topper or better yet replaced!
Linens: 4 stars, Sheets felt clean, plenty of towels (which you will need to clean up the water on the floor of the hall bath) Blankets need replacing.
MBR: 4 stars with just Ok pressure, Hall bathroom: 1 star - water gets everywhere in a claw foot tub with (dirty) curtain liner surround and poor shower head pressure. Needs updating drastically!
Kitchen -5 stars: well stocked and updated.
Living room: 2 stars: Furniture is very uncomfortable and needs updating. Furniture not conducive to fellowship and it was also dirty smelling.
Also there were way too many nicknacks and dust collectors in this home that made the house feel dirty.
Cute cottage in a good location. Nice outdoor patio and gardens. The hall bathroom is a little unique and the sink drains slow. There is a friendly neighborhood cat who thinks the cottage is his home and tries to come in.
Our stay was cut short due to the wild fires. Would have loved to stay the extra day. Hope everyone is safe. Thanks
Dear guests, we know how frustrating it is to lose power! However, as soon as the power was restored, we decided to open our home to any Sonoma resident whose house had been destroyed. We believe Wine Country is the most beautiful place on earth, and now we know that there are some very fine people here, in addition to fine wines!
Great house and yard - perfect for two couples. Excellent location.
The house was even better than the pictures. Very spacious, clean and open. The front and back porches were especially great for hanging out and relaxing. Perfect for families or two couples. The smaller bathroom had a tricky shower situation but we figured it out. Highly recommend!
Adequate and reasonably priced. Good location.
A little overdone with the “old” furnishings and too pink for my personal taste. Otherwise the house was good value
