Great little house!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, daughter and I stayed here just this week, and the little house was perfect for what we needed. If you are looking for a place in a central location this is a great place. The house was clean and it had everything we needed. I'm looking forward to going back.

Literally a Home Away

  • 4 of 5

I work as a personal chef and needed a place to work as a base while in the area. It was great having a house, not a hotel/motel. While there I took a few days to enjoy time to myself and go fishing and I could get to everything, including the beach in under twenty minutes.

A great experience.

Cute rental but needs work and attention

  • 2 of 5

I think this is a great lil house with wonderful potential. I know that many rental properties on the coast are pretty much for sleeping, as you spend your days out sight seeing and at the beach. However in our case, I had to go for work so we were there in the evenings after 6:30pm to relax. I was very excited and appreciative when we were approved as the hotels in our price range were booked due to the Hurricane and thought this would be a great option!

The only comfortable place to sit is a vinyl recliner as the futon's are uncomfortable to relax on. The beds could use some sort of foam overlays under the plastic cover to add additional padding. The pillows are flat and luckily we had brought our own. This place could use a good top to bottom cleaning as everything seemed sticky and there were these lil gnats in the corner of the bathroom. There would also be tiny ants/gnats in our dog's water bowl throughout the day. I went to lift a rug from next to the fridge to move it and it "peeled" off of the floor. We bought a few hand towels and also an ironing board while we were there and left it, as there were no small towels to dry your hands on and I needed to iron my clothes for work. I found an iron but no ironing board. The AC cannot be set below 73 or it will freeze up and not work as stated by a note taped to the thermostat. I did contact the owner of the property, who lives out of state, and she was concerned and did have someone from the property management bring another floor fan. There are ceiling fans, but even on high they move at a slow pace and need to be updated. It might also be nice to have dark curtains to close to keep out the heat and try to keep it cooler, or just look at a new AC unit. Also, the neighbors have about 5 big dogs, who are very friendly, but they got out of their fence a few times while we were there.

The one thing I loved was the owner Debbie. She was so sweet when I contacted her and very quick to respond. She also tried her best to resolve any issues. I think some of these issues are the management company who oversees the property, like the cleanliness of the place. Would we stay there again? Maybe in the cooler season when the AC is not an issue and if the management property would look at cleaning better. Again, Debbie is sweet and really does try to help and you can tell she wants you to have a great stay at their place. Just that some of these things I feel were out of her control being out of state.

Owner's Response: As with so many things in life there are benefits and drawbacks. Like being across the street from the Laguna Madre, and close to the Gulf of Mexico, the beauty and serenity is hard to beat. Then we have the salt air, which is always at work making things sticky and quick to rust, and unfortunately bugs and bad storms bring them out more, we do strive to keep them out of the home. This visit was shortly after hurricane Harvey. Getting curtains to go over the shades is a great idea, we will start looking for some right away. We like to use the non-slip rugs that have the sticky backing as a kind of safety measure. The ac is about 7 or 8 years old, I am saving up for a new, and larger ac unit, with any luck we'll have it for next summer. We have since your visit purchased several new hand towels and we're looking into new mattress pads for the beds. The ladies that do the cleaning work hard to make sure everything is clean and ready for our guests. We are sorry, and sad, to hear that you were unhappy. Sincerely, Debbie Gianetti
