Situated in Boat of Garten, or the Boat as it is locally known, Heath cottage offers guests comfortable, quality, modern accommodation in a country setting in the Cairngorm National Park.
The area is a haven for those who love the outdoors and there are ample opportunities for bird spotting, wildlife watching, sporting and leisure activities or for just chilling out in the Highland settings of heather clad hills, snow-capped mountains, lochs, rivers and woodlands.
The Highlands are renowned for many things and if golf is your pleasure then apart from the 18 hole course in Boat of Garten there are a multitude of opportunities for the keen golfer – Royal Dornoch is about an hour an half drive and Castle Stuart, home of the Scottish Open, is just over an hour away. For those partial to the delights of a wee dram then Heath Cottage is in an ideal place to access the Whisky trail of Moray and the Highlands. Even for those that don’t partake a trip to a distillery is well worth while. Most distilleries provide small guided tours where visitors can learn about the art of making uisce beatha, or the water of life as it is translated from Gaelic to English.
During the winter months the snow sports season gets under way. The nearest ski and snowboard centre to Boat of Garten is just outside Aviemore, 15 miles away and around a 30 minute drive. The Lecht Ski Centre is 25 miles to the east, around a 45 minute drive and a little further away are Anoch Mor and Glenshee, both around and hour and three quarters drive.
The village of Boat of Garten has a couple of shops, hotel, pub and restaurant. Larger towns with a variety of shops, supermarkets, etc are Aviemore and Grantown on Spey, both around a 15 minute drive.
Boat of Garten is situated just off the A95 Aviemore to Grantown on Spey road, about 7 miles from Aviemore and 10 miles from Grantown. There is easy access to the cottage and parking immediately in front for at least 2 cars. There are good train and bus connections to Aviemore and an airport at Inverness.
