Sensational Highland Home
We have just returned from a short break in an exceptional home. Fully fitted with everything a home needs, drawers filled with kitchen utensils so we definitely had the option of cooking at home. Being able to relax and look out of the window watching red deer and birds of prey was certainly a change for us. Ideally located to explore Inverness, Loch Ness and the Black Isle which we took advantage of in the search of dolphins. Our host was informative and very welcoming and has maintained a very comfortable home for guests to enjoy. We will definitely return.
Water problem in haven
On my recent travel to Inverness, I came across Wildhaven Property on Booking.com and the great reviews prompted me to book my stay there. The owner, Mairi is a charming lady and welcomed us graciously. The big disappointment was the water condition. There was no clean drinking water and we were expected to buy our own. While the tap water in England is clean enough for usage, the property had light brown water diffusing from the shower/kitchen taps. Apart from this we didn't face any problems. My feedback would be that the owners can be a bit more connected with first-time visitors and check on their stay experience on timely basis.
Thank you for your feedback, we are sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay as much as the other guests who have left feedback. The property is in a rural location with a private water supply. Scotland has some great Whisky and this is due to the natural peaty water we have in the Highlands which you can see in the streams has a natural brown tinge. The owners of Wildhaven buy bottled water for every guest and leave this is the kitchen as they did for your stay. So guests also don’t have to travel to the nearest shop as soon as they arrive they also leave some starter provisions. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your time in Scotland and took the opportunity to sample some of our great whisky.
Fantastic place to stay with friendly hosts
I originally booked this for myself and my girlfriend but things didn't work out with that so instead, I took my parents with me. I was not allowed to stay myself as its only a 2 person cottage but I was allowed to come and go during the day to spend time with my parents. Hosts were very friendly and there were loads of lovely walks in around the area. Also, there was a fantastic restaurant called the steadings not too far away from the cottage.
Things to note on was a lot of smoke from burning logs nearby. Also, the track leading up to the cottage is a bit rough so having a bigger car would be beneficial here but not necessary.
All, in all, was very happy with the stay and my parents, loved it too!
Fantastic place to stay in lots of peace n quiet bed was very comfortable and slept just fine. Tried to book again for etape Loch Ness cycle it was full, gutted
Very good relaxing cottage
The emplacement is perfect if you are looking for a quiet place. Very close nature if you just want to relax around the forest or if you want to go to the Lock Ness for a visit.
Very nice, comfortable inside, makes you feel home instantly. The owners are extremely welcoming and really looking forward to help and make your stay perfect
Lovely and peaceful.
The cottage was ideally located in a peaceful but not isolated location; as a lone female traveller it was reassuring to have Mairi and family next door as it is off the beaten track but you'd hardly know they were there. Mairi was helpful and welcoming without being intrusive. The cottage really was a home from home, having everything you would need for the stay, it was warm and comfortable and the views were lovely. There is plenty to do in the area and you are situated in a great place to get to all the attractions, I can thoroughly recommend a stay there.
From the south [A9] take the Fort Augustus turning [B851] about 8 miles before Invernessyou will go past a farm on the right called The Dell, 1/4 of mile after look out for the first 40 mile an hour sign with 3 slashes and turn left there. Go over cattle grid. Sign Wester Lairgs and Wildhaven.
Continue up track for a mile, passing two locked gates, one on the left and then one on the right. You will see some farm buildings , wooden rail fence and a green shed ahead with the sign Wildhaven.
Go to the house and Wildhaven Cottage is at the far end of the property.
