About Sally

We are avid travelers yet one of our favorite places to be is at our Bend vacation home. There is so much to do in Bend, especially if you enjoy outdoor recreation. We cross country ski (our knees don't allow downhill), fish, hike, bike and play tennis (walking distance to community college courts). As music lovers we enjoy the free outdoor summer concerts and the special concerts and events too. There is always something happening in Bend - Balloons Over Bend in June, nearby rodeos and quilt show, a wonderful community 4th of July, arts festivals... you name it. To top it off the weather is normally sunny!! Though we don't golf, there are some of the best courses in the nation right in the area.

Sally purchased this house in 2002

Why Sally chose Central Oregon

We knew we wanted to be in sunny central Oregon, but started our search in some of the resorts and the small town of Sisters. But the center of activities and the great variety of restaurants drew us to Bend proper and then to the popular west side. We were lucky to find property with views of mountains in 2 directions and backing to wild and natural scrub, which is owned by the Central Oregon Community College - but will likely never be developed (straight from the college president).

What makes this house unique

Besides everything noted above the summer also is a great time to visit the water slide and play area at the city owned Juniper Swim and Recreation Center. There is a year round outdoor 50 m pool (covered in the winter) and a 25 m indoor and also a indoor swing and children's pool for year-round use. Rock climbing at nearby Smith Rocks State Park is very popular as is boating at some of the many lakes in the area. The biking magazines name Bend as one of the top US locations, both for street and especially an extensive mountain bike network. Don't forget kayaking or floating the Deschutes.

Guestbook comments from the owner

As written in guest book: "Thanks for sharing your home with us, though there is so much to do here we hardly spent any time at the house. What struck us the most about the house is how quiet it is - absolutely peaceful. For extremely busy people, this was the most excellent part of our adventure!

Great house!

  • 4 of 5

This place is great! Clean, comfortable, spacious. The kitchen is very well stocked, everything you could need. There are very clear instructions printed out for everything in the house, so it's all easy. We really enjoyed the hot tub!!!! Large groups of deer wander through the yard every afternoon... we loved being able to walk to the coffee shop with the dog in the morning, it's close to broken top bottle shop, which has great beer and really good food. The only thing that I didn't love was the beds are really soft and my back's not so good... I ended up sleeping on the couch every night( I was very comfortable there though!) the rest of my family was very comfortable!

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed all the amenities of the house. We agreed with you and replaced the mattresses in both rooms with Sealy Posturpedic. Thanks for the input. The Eurolounger, in the great room, is actually made to be an alternative bed.

Awesome place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Juniper Jewel for a week and were so happy that there was everything we could possibly want there. Our biggest surprise was how baby friendly the place was which made our stay all the better. I would definitely go back as the views were great too!

Very organized home that had everything you could think of needing.

  • 5 of 5

Very well equipped for having a baby there which made that part easy. The living room is so open and airy- nice for hanging out at home with a big group.

Cozy house great for families

  • 5 of 5

This was a clean, comfortable home with everything you might need already stocked. It snowed about 2 feet while we were here so we actually booked an extra night. We really enjoyed this place and look forward to staying here again.

good location

  • 4 of 5

Good location on the west side of town. Hot tub was clean and worked. Private, woodsy back-yard. Nice set of condiments and basic cooking supplies. Most places seem to throw these out so the next person just has to buy them again. We would stay here again.

Great stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at the Juniper Jewel. The house and property are really nice, and the owners have it well organized. The location was perfect for us, as we were dropping off our daughter for her first term at COCC. It had everything we needed, and it is a lovely space, with a very peaceful backyard, and nice evening light. The furniture and amenities were all very comfortable and of good quality. The hot tub was especially nice to have on a clear night. The owners were very responsive and helpful when we had an issue with the internet, even though it was a Saturday evening.
