Please note: the flat rate for Inauguration Week is $3600 - stay a night or a week a 10-minute walk from the festivities on the National Mall, with plenty of space, a full kitchen, and two parking spots included.
Thanks for finding us! Relax at the end of your day in a townhouse that a former Supreme Court Chief Justice once called home. Three comfy bedrooms give everyone lots of room. A cook’s kitchen and separate dining room, plus a patio, make this a real home away from home!
You won’t find other digs so right-in-the-middle-of-it-all: Stroll to a Metro hub, the National Mall, or the new Nationals baseball stadium.
Just one block south is Washington's marina. From there, it's a short walk east along the Potomac River to the Jefferson Memorial and Tidal Basin paddleboats, the Holocaust Museum, the FDR Memorial, the Bureau of Printing and Engraving, and the Washington Monument.
Heading north, it's just 6 blocks to the Smithsonian Air & Space and other museums along the National Mall.
To the southwest are Nationals Park, and the National Defense University. Also, Fort Leslie McNair's grassy expanses, where military bands regularly perform on summer evenings.
Just across the Potomac River are Haines Point's golf course and park.
To get around hassle-free, hop on the subway at L'Enfant Plaza - four blocks away. Or catch city bus #74, which runs between Nationals Park and the Convention Center, passing the Mall, Verizon Center and the restaurants at Gallery Place.
One off-street parking space is included. An extra parking space may be available - please ask.
Owners are long-time DC residents and neighbors, and are happy to answer questions and share tips for visitors.

As the other reviews have indicated the location for the visitor and tourist is wonderful; blocks from the center of the Mall, a short walk to the water front and a couple blocks from a Safeway, CVS and Subway.
The home was immaculate and well stocked. Towels and linens were abundant and easily accessible. For us the kitchen was the high point since we like to cook. We have rented several times from VRBO and this is the BEST kitchen yet. There was every pot, pan, serving dishes, appliances and utensils you could want. Plenty of dishes and glassware. It was a pleasure to cook and so easy.
Very nice neighborhood. Felt comfortable walking around at all hours. The neighbors were quiet didn't hear a sound from anyone.
To top it all off Deborah was so easy to work with, quick in responding and inordinately helpful. This rental was perfect in every way.
We arrived a little earlier than expected (great flight & perfect weather) but the housekeeper greeted us at the door and had permission to let us in. She was very friendly and it appeared she did a good job cleaning the townhome. This was a great spot for the four of us to stay -- easy access to transportation and local shopping. The home has comfy beds and enough bathrooms; the kitchen is a bit small but has everything we needed to feel right at home. The homeowner was very friendly, easy to contact and extra-accommodating when we had questions. We would recommend this VRBO rental and will plan on staying there again if we get a chance to visit the DC area again.
We were three couples looking for a townhome for a reunion, and we struck gold. Plenty of room, a fully stocked kitchen and more linens than I have at home. The house was clean and tidy and our hosts included many little extras. They left easy instructions for using the Metro (an easy 4 blocks away) and getting around the city. The only negative was rainy weather, and Deborah graciously invited us to stay longer if needed. Any little question I had was answered within 5 minutes of my text or call. We use VRB0 a lot and this was our best find. Thank you, Deborah.
This property is as advertised! In fact, it's actually BETTER than advertised. My family had a great stay. The place fit our needs to a "T"! It truly is 6 blocks from the National Mall and it's a fairly easy walk on top of that! We were grateful for the parking place as one of us drove. I just can't say enough good about this place and the owner, Deborah DeYoung. She was very responsive yet unobtrusive! Thank you, Deborah! We will be back and definitely will recommend this place to our friends.
Spent a week with extended family. Plenty of room to spread out. Loved that we could all gather for meals at one table. Best stocked kitchen I have ever seen and have rented a lot thru VRBO. Outdoor seating. Quit neighborhood. Free off street parking space was great for the members who drove rather than flew. My husband and I love using the public transit system in DC. Bus stop on corner is a direct route to the Mall if you don't want to walk to the metro (waterside metro is 2 blocks). Having said this I would recommend taking a cab from the airport. We flew into Reagan and the cab ride was worth the 20.00 to not have to carry luggage on metro. Owner noted Air an Space Museum was 6 blocks, just remember that DC blocks are TRUE city blocks....not a difficult walk but was a problem with one of our group who has hip problems (thus the bus rides). Be sure to visit the Washington Sound two blocks away! I think there is an additional apt for rent in the basement. Worth checking out if you have more folks than what would fit in the townhouse
We spent a week with our three adult kids. It was the perfect home with lots of space and everything you could need to make your stay comfortable. Convenient grocery and shopping, metro and parking. We looked forward to cooking our family breakfast every morning and getting home every evening. We are already planning our next trip back with grand kids.
