Perfect Location for Christmas Market

My wife and I stayed in the Le Balcony du Grenette the first week of Advent. The apartment is very nicely furnished and has all the modern conveniences. Although somewhat small, the layout has been designed to easily accommodate 2 adults with plenty of room and Is one of the most comfortable units we have rented.The Christmas Market can be seen from the balcony. The street can get busy, but the neighborhood goes completely quiet in the evenings. Restaurants, pubs, grocery stores and wine caves are nearby. This would be my first choice to stay should we return to Annecy. Larry & Kelly,Georgetown, Texas

Absolutely Perfect

The review title says it all. The apartment was as described and pictured and more. We felt at home the minute we walked in the door. While not large the space is utilized such that the living room and the bedroom are perfect for two people. The kitchen was well equipped with with everything needed to prepare a meal.

Although the apartment faces a busy street, the windows, when closed, provide more than adequate soundproofing from the noise.

We did not have an opportunity to meet our hosts, however, communication was timely and specific enough that we really had no need for a face to face meeting.

We look forward to returning to Annecy and this apartment in the future.

Beautiful apartment in beautiful town.

Annecy and the apartment were both perfect. It's right in the center of everything, restaurants, stores, the market, we loved it there. Lake Annecy is absolutely beautiful, be sure to take a boat ride. Apartment was well equipped, best shower ever. Spiral stairs were a bit rough on us since we are in our 70's but well worth the climb. The town people were so nice and friendly and helpful. There is a restaurant right downstairs that is rated number 1 on a very popular website, we've tried posting names in the past but were not allowed. Thank you Robert and Jacqueline for sharing your lovely home with us, we will highly recommend it to our friends. Sincerely, Don and Carol, Delaware, USA

Amazing week staying at Le Balcon du Grenette

We are just back from a lovely week in Annecy staying at Le Balcon du Grenette everything was just perfect Robert & Jacqueline were most helpful both before our arrival sending details on how to enter the apartment & after arrival suggesting places to park.

The apartment is superb it has everything you could possibly need we found extra pillows for the bed & extra towels in the basket at the end of the bed. The bed is comfy & our first couple of days it was very hot & the ceiling fans were just right for keeping us cool. The bathroom & rain head shower were excellent meaning that we felt fully refreshed every day & the hairdryer was good & powerful.

The kitchen has every utensil, crockery, kettles, coffee machines etc. you could possibly need and the lounge was also comfy.

The location of the apartment is just a minutes walk to the old town where there are plenty of bars & restaurants. We also visited Chez Mamie Lise which is just opposite the apartment 3 times during our week and found the staff friendly & the food superb.

For parking Robert and Jacqueline suggested Hotel Du Ville just a 5 minute walk from the apartment and we paid for 5 nights in advance & then paid for street parking on our last day.

We will recommend this superb apartment to our family and friends and would book again if we ever visit Annecy again. Thank you for a superb week.

Lovely Apartment in Annecy Old Town

Just arrived home from a 10 night stay in Le Balcon du Grenette. A lovely apartment, well equipped, clean, modern and with everything you could need, great location for restaurants, bakeries and shops all on your door step. However unless your property has its own designated parking i would not recommend staying in the old town if you have a car. The parking seems to be a real issue here. On street parking is available outside apartment which you need to pay for but these were never available during our stay, was just too busy, there are free car parks about 10 minute walk away but the spaces here were at a premium and were highly contested for. Some evenings we spent almost half an hour driving round trying to find a space, this meant we didnt get as much use out of hire car as we had hoped as we didnt want to go out and lose our space. This was in June which is not even French peak season so we cannot imagine what it would be like in August. Would definitely recommend apartment it is lovely and in fantastic location, but don't drive here.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, we are happy you liked and enjoyed our apartment. Parking in the center of town can be difficult but we think it's pretty much the same in most of the popular city center / tourist place around the globe ! Despite the presence of a lot of parking (free and paying) near the apartment , for guests planning on using their car a lot during their stay, it is recommended to buy an unlimited access pass for around 10 € per day in the covered and secured parking called "Hotel de Ville" which is less than 2 min walk away from our flat. Apartments with private parking in the old town are rare and unfortunately a choice between an ideal situation close to all amenities and a private parking needs to be made.

Charming and Comfortable Apartment in the centre of Annecy Old Town

We stayed in Balcon Grenette for almost 5 weeks and loved it. Although small in area the apartment has been cleverly designed and tastefully furnished , perfect for two discerning adults. The balcony was just big enough for 2 seated adults to enjoy a meal and watch the action in the street below. The large shower was a pleasure, with plentiful hot water. The beds were comfortable and could be raised to facilitate reading. We did though have to buy a couple of new pillows. Al the appliances in the kitchen were in working order and there was plenty of utensils for preparing our own meals. The internet was reliable allowing us to access our own movies. It should be noted that the apartment is on a main street and we were woken most mornings by the street cleaners and the refuse collectors. It was not a problem being early risers. Access by security code avoids having to look after keys and the walk up the two flights of stone steps provided welcome exercise. A huge advantage is the location in the centre of the old town and proximity to the restaurants. Other than the noise issue I can't see how it could be bettered.

As children, we used to come for the weekend in Annecy to eat icecreams in the Old town, to admire swans swimming on canals, go on pedal boat on the lake and enjoy the beach we are a retired couple and it is with pleasure that we want to share our love for this city.

We had a real 'coup de coeur' for this apartment ideally situated in a historic building reachable by a magnificent spiral staircase in stone.

Inside everything had to be renovated but the magnificent viewfrom the wrought iron balcony on the church Saint-Maurice conquered us.

Craftsmen in our soul we completely recreated, from floor to ceiling, this apartment by reorganizing all the roomsgiving priority to functionality and luminosity. In a concern of sustainable development, we improved the heat and phonic insulation and by choosing noble and natural materials we have created a warm and comfortable atmosphere.
