We had a wonderful five night stay in this house during June/July 2016. The house manager, Kristin, was excellent with both communications and other reservation details. The house is beautifully decorated and furnished. It was a real treat to enjoy the amazing Icelandic decor and art that has been carefully placed throughout the spacious home. The combined living and dining area is large and open with great light and great views through floor to ceiling windows. The furniture is comfortable and attractive and is in very good condition. The bedrooms were large and the beds and linens were very comfortable and provided restful sleep. We appreciated the well stocked kitchen, the two bathrooms, and the spacious laundry room (with easy to use washer and dryers). The neighborhood, where the house located, is relatively new and is well laid out. We enjoyed having several grocery stores close by and found the 15 drive to downtown Reykjavik easy and pleasant. We used the home as our base as we took various day trips to explore the amazing sights of Iceland (South Coast, Golden Circle, West Coast, and Reykjavik). We recommend this property highly and hope to return again soon!
Great home in a wonderful location. Our three teenage girls had a great stay in Iceland!
This house is in an excellent location, a quiet residential street, close to local facilities and with easy access to tourist sites. It is very spacious, beautifully decorated and furnished and very warm and cosy. he kitchen was very well-equipped with plenty of useful pantry items supplied. Having 2 bathrooms is great, and the showers were fantastic, but the bad drain smell in one needs attending to. We felt the property had potential to be 5 stars but there were some disappointments which lowered our rating in comparison to other rentals we've stayed in, so we hope these suggestions will prove useful. The house itself was very clean but some equipment was not - oven, toaster, coffee machine, sandwich toaster were all unhygenically dirty and required cleaning before use; stained and unironed bed linen was uninviting. There were vast quantities of crockery and cutlery but very few glasses. So many personal effects filled cupboards, drawers and surfaces that there was no space for our items - we think the kitchen needed a thorough tidy-up, making the contents of the units easier to identify and to leave one cupboard empty for guests' provisions. The situation in the bedrooms was similar - with no space for clothes, living out of suitcases detracts from the holiday (for 2 adults in bedroom 3 this was almost impossible with barely room to leave cases and move around.)
Booking was easy and the owner provided helpful and quick responses. Overall our group had a great stay and there was certainly plenty of space for 6 adults to relax.
The house was increbible, everything was fancy and we have felt as a real icelandic people. All the services were luxury, the house was warm and everything goes very well. The manager of house was incredible helpful, attentive and careful. It was a great and emotional experience. The neighborhood was very nice and we have a real good views. Incredible this house.
We stayed over New Year's Eve and had a lovely time. The place had everything we needed. There was plenty of space, and the decor was warm and inviting. The kitchen is more stocked than my own. Given how snowy it was during our stay, we appreciated how fantastic the heat was--the floors were actually warm to walk on. I think they must have been heated because I saw no other vents and they were so evenly warm. So, so nice! Wish mine at home were the same.
The location was quiet and also convenient for seeing all that we wanted to see, which was good considering we were there during the shortest days of the year. The grocery store was near, too. The GPS we rented along with our car had no trouble getting us to the house.
The owners were helpful when we wanted to add another day and also in giving us suggestions for where to view the New Year's Eve fireworks, which were absolutely amazing. It was one of the most fun displays of fireworks we have ever seen. Being from the States, we go to fireworks for our Independence Day, and I have gone to a New Year's Eve celebration only once--in NYC's Times Square. This celebration in Reykjavich was so much better, in my opinion, for there were no packed-in-like-sardines kinds of crowds like in Times Square (there's only 300,000 or so residents in Iceland, I think). The bonfire was unbelievably huge and warm, and there were so many fireworks. We stood on hill by the harbor and could see fireworks all across the city. They lasted far longer than any display we have ever seen. So cool!
We would definitely come back again!
We really enjoyed our stay in this home! With 2 bathrooms, the kids had their own for getting ready each day. The home had plenty of room and was as warm and inviting as advertised; the heated bathroom floors and driveway were appreciated. The kitchen was well equipped and we had everything we needed. Although a microwave would have been nice, they may not be common in Iceland homes. The clothes dryer was also different than we expected (from the U.S.) and didn't really dry the clothes, so clothes were hung to dry on the lines provided. The furnishings were beautiful and we felt very much at home while there. The home was a great base from which to tour the country's beautiful waterfalls, beaches, parks, hot springs, etc. The drive to Reykjavik did take 15-20 minutes, but we prefer to stay outside the city in a quieter, more peaceful location - which was actually closer to many attractions. It was perfect for us. And thanks for the tip on the local swimming pool; it was a wonderful experience. Thank you for providing us your lovely home!
