Granville Cabin Rental Photos and Description

2 bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, sleeps 4-5

Located in the heart of the Green Mountains on ten acres. Mountain views and remote feel, but only 20 minutes from Warren/Waitsfield area or 10 minutes to Rochester. Ski or snowshoe out the back door or cozy up and watch movies on home theater with over 200 movies. New, with all the modern amenities, but done in classic cabin style. Enjoy walking/sledding on site or hiking the nearby Long Trail, then a relaxing hot tub under the stars. 15 mins to Middlebury Snow Bowl, 25 mins to Sugarbush and Mad River Glen or 45 to Killington. Great swimming, kayaking, etc. Perfect any season!

Size limitations: The cabin is 850 sq ft. so not designed for large groups. It is one large space downstairs and two separate bedrooms above. It has a much larger feel than it's size indicates however, due to a two story loft above. There is also a generously sized mud room/entry with a heated floor to dry out ski boots and stow gear. It is therefore best suited for couples or small families who are looking for a well designed and appointed quality cabin. Anyone looking for a traditional Vermont experience will certainly enjoy the areas offerings and the warmth and intimacy provided in the cabin.

4wd Car recommendation: It is recommended that you have a 4wd car or truck in the winter.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Jeff.

We can't thank you enough for providing us with lodging that is so comfortable and with such nice amenities. After playing tourist during our stay last summer, we stuck a bit closer to home this time. Highlights were finding the swimming holes at Warren Falls and across from Newtons, Sunset Hike and local farmer's markets. Everything we ventured out to do was great fun! Also, it was wonderful to have our dog, Ginger along. Thinking we are hearty Southerners, who have endured a terrifically hot summer thus far, we did not believe we would need the A/C in Vermont, but I must confess that we broke down and used it one evening. We were so thankful for it!

We really appreciate everything!

Amazing set up

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I decided to take a last minute getaway with our pup and found this charming cabin. It was quiet, quaint, and just what we needed. Jeff has a binder put together with answers to just about any question you might have regarding the cabin or the area. It is the most comprehensive and organized binder I have ever seen! Everything at the cabin is labeled nicely to help you figure out where things go as well. We followed his advice for restaurants, and ended up eating breakfast at the Rochester Cafe every day! I highly recommend the banana pecan pancakes. Dinner at Doc's Tavern was relaxed and casual. Both the ribs and mac & cheese were delicious. We also ate dinner at School Street Bistro, which was nothing short of amazing. The food is made to order and the owners were delightful. Next time we visit Vermont, we will be going back to eat there. We hiked around the cabin and enjoyed wild raspberries, blackberries, and black raspberries. We also went on the Sunset Ledge hike, which was moderate intensity, and had a beautiful view. Blueberry picking at Sunshine Valley Berry Farm was so fun! The owner was fun to talk to and offered tips on picking the best berries. We had the chance to sample syrup and honey, and ended up buying quite a bit! My favorite activity was when we went swimming in the White River with our dog. We followed Jeff's directions, and it lead us to a swimming hole where it was just the 3 of us, so it was very peaceful. My husband's favorite activity was hanging out by the fire we built in the fire pit at the cabin, while star gazing and listening to coyotes. Although there is a large screen and projector in the house with movies and TV, we never even turned it on, because just taking in nature was perfect for us. We can't wait to make another trip and couldn't imagine even thinking about staying in a different cabin!

Great Escape / Great vacation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and i celebrated our 30 years wedding anniversary by renting Jeff's beautiful cabin in the Green Mountains of VT. We were there the third week of July 2016 for 5 nights. We loved every minute of it !!! The cabin was cozy and perfect for us. And we brought our little dog with us too ! She loved it as well ! We used the huge movie screen all 5 evenings. Not only is the screen huge, the picture is crystal clear as well ! And it has surround sound with 4 or 5 speakers which definitely enhanced the movie watching experience ! Each night after the movies we were in the hot tub under the stars. The hot tub is fantastic, it even has cool night lights for the hot tub as well. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. We did use two large citrinella candles that we purchased before leaving for our trip. These candles did a great job in keeping mosquitos and bugs away from the hot tub area at night. Remember this cabin is in the woods. I highly recommend you buy two large sized citrenella candles before you leave. Only costs about $ 8.00 for each candle. The area has so much to offer as we explored each day. Take a 1 hour drive to Stowe, VT. It is worth the 1 hour drive as Stowe has many shops and many restaurants to keep you busy and entertained for a day. Make sure you visit Ben and Jerry's ice cream factory and take the tour ! All in all, this cabin and vacation lived up to all of our expectations ! Thanks Jeff for making our 30 th wedding anniversary so very special and memorable for my wife and I. Thank you.

Great place for an escape!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful and relaxing time in Jeff's charming cabin. The place really lets you feel like you've escaped into a woodsy and quiet world, but is still close enough to groceries, coffee, and day trips. We didn't get to utilize the hot tub, since the weather was very hot, but the cabin stayed nice and cool, thanks to the well-placed windows and fan. We made good use of the screen and projector, though. Our dogs had a great time on our walks in the area, as well.

Jeff is thorough and communicative and the info binder in the house is super helpful!

Thanks, Jeff!

Cozy and Peaceful

  • 5 of 5

Most wonderful time at the cabin in the mountains, couldn't have been more equipped with everything we needed. The hot tub and movie theater were definitely the highlight of our stay and not to mention our dog absolutely loved it!

We will definitely book this cabin again especially due to the fact the owner is so attentive to your needs and making your stay the most enjoyable as it could possibly be!

Great place!

  • 5 of 5

Very pleased with the visit- a cabin retreat in the country, yet complete with a lot of amenities to make us comfortable just hanging out and unwinding. Hot tub and projector TV along with bluetooth stereo were really nice. The area was quite charming - we enjoyed seeing all the covered bridges and sampling Vermont's very tasty foods. Not required, but recommended to rent an SUV for some of the local roads (we were there in early March). Information in the cabin is very helpful for finding things to do or places to go eat or drink. Jeff, the owner, was super courteous and cabin was well appointed, clean, and welcoming - exactly what we needed after our wedding!

92'' front screen projection TV that turns the living room into a home movie theater. Over 200 DVD's as well as Direct TV carrying the major networks, sports channels, etc. Recommend four wheel drive (or AWD) vehicle in winter for local roads and driveway. We now have wireless broadband internet service at the cabin, but you'll need your own computer. There is currently AT&T cell phone service in Granville, but Verizon can be gotten 10 minutes away. Living room has a gas stove which resembles a wood stove, but is much safer and cleaner to operate.
