VillaMariaResort Apartments

Our apartments are the result of an accurate renovation of the 16th century stable and barn of the Liberty Villa, where we have been living for 4 generations and which still has all the ancient details of the original architecture. All the apartments are equipped with kitchenette, air conditioning, tv, fridge, refrigerator, coffee machine, complete cookware and microwave oven. All bathrooms are large and equipped with shower. Almost all our apartments have their own terrace equipped for lunch. Bedrooms are big and comfortable. The swimming pool has jacuzzi, solarium area and loungers available to our guests. The VillaMariaResort is an exclusive and quiet location for only 6 families. VillaMariaResort is a family run residence where respect, cleanliness and kindness are the key words in the relationship with our guests. We are situated in the old town, near all facilities: shops, bars, restaurants, kiosks, tobacco shops, bakeries, post office and bank, all accessible in 2 minutes. The beach and the port are just 500 m away on foot, by car or by tourist train.

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour. On voit que tout vient d'être rénové. Endroit familial, avec tout le confort nécessaire. De plus, proche de tout commerces.

Mycket trevligt ställe vid vackra Gardasjön!

Vi hade en fantastiskt trevlig semester här! Beskrivningen stämmer väl överens med verkligheten. Vackert, rent och vänligt.

Vi bodde i en lägenhet med terass vid poolen. Två vuxna och två barn i en enrumslägenhet. Alla är helnöjda och vill mycket gärna återvända hit igen. Stället är litet, lugnt och familjärt. WiFi finns men är lite trögt om det är mycket gäster. Det är nära till stadens centrum och ca 500m nerför till stranden. Vi bodde här i 10 dagar och kunde parkera bilen direkt utanför fastigheten. Vi gjorde dagsturer till ställen runt om Gardasjön och tog tåget till Venedig en dag. Simone är en enastående värd och tar hand om sina gäster på bäst sätt. Han var mycket hjälpsam och trevlig och gav oss tips på bra restauranger mm. Stort tack för en trevlig vistelse i Italien.

The VillaMariaResort is situated in the old town of Moniga del Garda, few steps away from the Medieval castle. Even if in the last decades the town had to enlarge in order to follow the tourist development, the old part of the city still keeps its narrow lanes and flowered balconies with scented jasmines.

The old town still keep the country features of the farming town that Moniga was once, and you can still see the farmyards of the farmers’ houses, ready to store the products of the nearby land.

In the most ancient part of the town, Pozzo, you can see some architecture features and glimpses of the lake.

Moniga goes from the Morenic hill to the lake of Garda, where its little port was built and then outfitted with modern equipment for boats and their maintenance.

The long boardwalk by the lake is crowded with people in summer, especially foreigners, and at evening it is one of the most beautiful place where young people meet to go to the clubs with music and lights.

The parish church dedicated to San Martino was started in the 15th century and renovated more than once; the last renovation took place at the end of the 18th century in Baroque style, with 5 altars and some altarpieces.

At the beginning it was a chapel and depended on the Pieve di Santa Maria in Manerba, just like all the nearby churches, until 1454 – when it was sanctified and dedicated to San Martino, protector of knights, soldiers, tailors and innkeepers.

Above the entrance gate there is a big coloured rectangular window depicting the scene of San Martino giving its cloak to a begging. As regarding food and wine, Moniga is one of the best places of the area surrounding the Lake of Garda. Moniga del Garda is located in the centre of the Valtenesi, renowned for its excellent food and Chiaretto wine, a typical rosé wine that made Moniga the "City of Chiaretto".

There are also plenty of good restaurants in Moniga and a rich tourist offer going from the kiosks on the beach to the pizzerias, and from the italian trattorias to the awarded restaurants.

Some amazing fairs in a food and wine background take place in the country from March to October.

Entering the town, near the parish church of San Martino, you will find a castle built in the 10th century to protect from the Hungarians.

The white stone walls with Ghibellines blackbirds surround a tiny hamlet consisting of four rows of houses and some vegetable gardens.

The ancient fortified tower of the castle became the bell tower of the nearby church and the land of the hill that surrounds it has been turned into an attractive public park. In spite of being a small country, Moniga offers its guests a wide range of hobbies and both land and water sports.

Next to the equipped beaches where sunbathing is ideal, Moniga offers tennis courts, football pitches, well maintained and marked bike paths such as the Valtenesi one that runs from Salo to Lonato.

This route includes both coastal municipalities and those of the Garda hills, and offers a unique opportunity to discover the villages, churches and medieval castles immersed in the morainic hills of the Valtenesi.

Moniga borders Manerba del Garda (that you really should visit for its unique Rocca overlooking the lake), Soiano that offers the most beautiful golf course of Italy, and finally Padenghe with its castle - very similar to that of Moniga, with views of the Gulf that embraces an extensive stretch of the lake.
