We live in the UK with our three children but love the mountains both in summer and winter so decided to buy a chalet back in 2004. We love coming out to Samoens as much as we can but are very happy to share our wonderful chalet with guests when we cannot be there. We hope you decide to book with us and enjoy your stay.
Nicola and Gary Sloan purchased this chalet in 2004
This property is the perfect mountain retreat. Only two minutes drive to the grand massif gondola for skiing and Samoens town, yet located off a mountain road with stunning views. For large groups there is ample space for all and a separate games room with pool, air hockey, table football and table tennis there is plenty to entertain the children (and adults) during the evenings and the odd occasional rainy day in the mountains!
We stayed at Chalet Papillon for a week with 3 teenage children at half term. On the plus side, it is spacious, and there are plenty of bedrooms. The kitchen is modern and there are all the right appliances. it is warm and the gams room was a hit with the kids. But there are also a few glaring omissions, some more significant than others.
There is little room for clothes in the bedrooms, rather storage cupboard in the hallway - but still not really adequate.
There is no fire irons set - so even though there is a lovely log burning stove, tending it was difficult. But you had to use it as there was no other heating on the top floor, the main living space. Even thought heating elsewhere in the chalet rose though the building, it was still a bit nippy in the mornings.
The shower head in the en suite bathroom needed replacing - it was all furred up.
The hot tub was lovely, but had to be accessed down some unlit and perilous lose stepping stones, down a steep hill.
The TV was old and decrepit - no sound bar to hook up IPhones on blue tooth (first world problems!)
The chalet is a long way from town, so a car is essential and the nearest supermarket is a 20 min round trip.
But for all that we enjoyed it, I think the owners could pay a little more attention to detail to retain the 'luxury' label with confidence.
Fantastic chalet, with everything you need. Hot tub was a great treat at the end of the day. Easy walk into the village. Must visit again soon.
Had a wonderful stay at the chalet with a group of friends this autumn. Every need is catered for in this large, beautifully appointed property, which is spotlessly clean. The hot tub was an amazing bonus! The mountain views are spectacular and all the facilities we wanted were nearby.
Loads of memories to take away of a fabulous break. Would certainly love to return here.
Six of us (5 adults and a teenager) enjoyed a very relaxing 10 day break at Chalet Papillon. The large living area at the top of the house, was a lovely social space but having the games room, hot tub and balcony meant that everyone could enjoy their own space too, when they felt like it. The chalet was very clean and well equipped and the owners were friendly and helpful both before and after the booking. We are all missing the balcony at Chalet Papillon as it was so very relaxing to sit there for breakfast, lunch or dinner and watch the parapenters gliding down the mountain or to watch the clouds/mist blow in or out. We had wonderful weather with a cracking thunderstorm one night which was amazing to watch from the upstairs lounge. Samoens is such a lovely, family-friendly place with lots of activities to enjoy in the summer. Thanks for a wonderful holiday!
Great facilities as described. Loved the open living space and views from the balconies. Games room added to the entertainment for the kids and hot tub for the adults was much appreciated at the end of the day. The chalet was clean and well stocked on arrival. Having driven to France, parking at the chalets garage was great and a short drive to the central gondala and shops. Will certainly book again - couldn't have wished for more from a perfectly placed chalet
This beautiful well appointed chalet sits above the lovely village of Samoens which is a short walk down the hill. There are wonderful views across the valley from the large terrace- a great place to sip a glass of wine!
We found it a perfect base for an action packed family summer alpine holiday. There are lots of activities on offer, including white water rafting, walking, cycling,
tree top adventures and a great pool complex in the village. Just over one hours
drive from Geneva, we would definitely recommend this chalet.
The chalet is set off a lovely mountain road in a cluster of half a dozen chalets. A car is recommended for skiing for the short 5 minute drive to the fast Samoens gondola. There is a garage for parking at the chalet.
