We had an absolutely WONDERFUL week staying in this house over Christmas vacation. We had 5 adults and 1 child and still had room for more. When my children walked in they said that It was even better than in the pictures, which I totally agree with. Everything was lovely! We loved the open living room/dining room/ kitchen because no one was ever out of the mix unless they wanted to be. Then they could go outside on one of the many porches or go to the den, or even spend time reading in their rooms. We brought our own Christmas decorations, which made the house feel even more our own, and we even got a beautiful Christmas tree. Everything was PERFECT! The walk to the beach was so easy and the beach is beautiful. Keep in mind that we were there when it was too cold to swim, but we all STILL thoroughly enjoyed our time spent down there. We didn' t rent bikes on this visit, but we could have not only ridden them around town, but on the beach as well. The walk to the rec center was really short, which was so nice because our 3 yr. old grandchild found many other little ones to play with there. We went into Charleston 4 different times ( lunch and Children's Museum, Aquarium visit, dinner one night and shopping one afternoon) and it never took us longer than 20 min. to get there. Also, the airport is really quite close for easy pick up and drop off. There is a grocery store 10 really short blocks from the house... One could walk it or bike it if they wanted to, and Harris Teeter, Whole Foods and Trader Joes are all a close drive away. There was nothing that we needed or wanted that we weren't able to get there. Everything worked very smoothly. Would definitely go through Beachside again. Have already told friends! We all would DEFINITELY rent this house again and have already suggested it to other family members and friends.
We all loved the house! It was even better than the photos - if you can believe that! We would love to rent it for next year's vacation. Perfect for all of us and we felt like we were at 'home' at the end of the day! Slept great; great open kitchen/dining/family room; perfect pool; elevator was great to have; couldn't have been nicer! THANK YOU!
We just completed a week's stay at this lovely home. As an extended family of 12 people, we found the large, open entertainment area and adjoining porch to be the center of our activity. The generous floorplan allowed us to be all together when we wished to be or in many different areas when we wanted more "down" time. All of the bedrooms are large and airy, most with French doors to a porch or balcony. We appreciated the quality throughout and the fact that nice linens are provided - a huge advantage since some family members arrived by air. The home is well furnished inside and out with attractive and comfortable pieces.
The proximity to the beach was perfect, and the location generally very satisfactory. Our favorite activity was riding bikes on the beach, which was easily arranged with a local rental company who had the bikes there waiting for us when we arrived.
Getting to downtown Charleston is an easy drive, and we took advantage of restaurants, shopping and tours there. Charleston has a lot to offer for a small city. If you drive there, just be sure to have a good road map, as there are many one-way streets.
It's not necessary, however, to venture all the way downtown for good food. Nearby Sullivan's Island and Mt. Pleasant have many restaurants, including some with outdoor seating which we sought.
The Isle of Palms was a fun place to have a vacation, and this particular house is one we would definitely stay at again.
This home is perfect for your vacation on the Isle of Palms. Located at the center of the island, this home is walking distance to the recreation center, a block from the beach, and about a mile from the town area and Wild Dunes. Ask about golf cart rentals for this home, and cruise the island casually in style. Come and spend a week making memories that will last a lifetime!
