Spend your next vacation in a beautiful waterfront house, located right on Deer Lake on Whidbey Island. With a spacious master bedroom suite, second bedroom and bath, large living room, full kitchen and dining room, this is comfortable place for romance, relaxation and play. Enjoy the private dock right in front of the house.

The fishing is excellent. : Fishing season is open from late April to late October. If you like crayfish, they are abundant as well. We can usually get our limit of trout in a couple hours of fishing. There are also bass, which enthusiasts fish for primarily in the mornings.

Become one with the 180-degree views of Deer Lake and the surrounding wooded hills. Sit on the dock or deck (or living room in winter) for hours watching the view and birds. Speaking of birds, careful observers are likely to see eagles, herons, belted kingfishers, Canadian geese, mergansers, loons, cormorants, buffleheads and much more.

Trout fishing is excellent and popular. It’s a great place for canoes, rowboats and summertime swimming. Water skiing is limited to a few hours in the middle of the day. Enjoy the many restaurants and shops in Langley!

The master bedroom suite is romantic & comfortable: There is a great view of the lake right from the bed, looking through the 8 foot sliding glass door. The king size cherry sleigh bed has a very comfortable mattress. The master bathroom is huge with a big corner Jacuzzi tub, separate shower and 2 sink vanity.

The view of Deer lake dominates the living room, dining room and master bedroom. The kitchen also looks out at the lake. One end of the L shaped living room makes a cozy entertainment area with a 42 inch flat screen TV connected cable TV and Wi-Fi and DVD player. We have a few DVDs movie disks, or rent them about a mile away.

Island Attraction and Activities: Visit the wine tasting rooms in Langley, Freeland and Greenbank Hike the many trails on the South Whidbey, Ebey's Landing and Deception Pass state parks, Nice walk at Double Bluff beach or Deception Pass. Eat at one of the MANY fantastic restaurants: Gordon's on Blueberry Hill is excellent. Café Langley with Greek, Mediterranean Cuisine or La Casita Mexican Cuisine. Shopping at the many quaint stores and art galleries in Langlely, Freeland or Coupeville Blow your own glass at Callahan's (located in the historic fire station in Langley)

There are festivals happening all year long on the island.

What makes this house unique

One of our favorite ways of enjoying the Deer Lake House is to spend a few days with good friends – another couple or two. Combine the great view with good conversation (perhaps while sipping a little wine), going out to dinner or making a project of cooking, touring in the rowboat, visiting Whidbey's many tourist destinations, watch a movie, etc. In any season, this is a good time.

Guestbook comments from the owner

If you need to get away from city life and want to find a lakeside property where you and your family can relax for 3 or 4 nights this is the place. Bright, spacious and tranquil, this home comfortably sleeps 4 and has a large dining room table overlooking a lovely lake where you can enjoy your home-cooked meals. My family and I really enjoyed our stay.

We really enjoyed our stay and loved the views to the lake. We all slept like babies in the quiet, peaceful environment.

Great cozy getaway with accurate description.

  • 5 of 5

The house is located 5 mins away from the Clinton ferry and is in convenient driveway if you want to bring your boat.

The view is great with a small and quiet lake, and a dock, so we were able to fish just sitting on it.

2 boats were a hit for everyone as we took rides on the lake.

By the time of our arrival ( we happened to get there an hour earlier that our check -in time), the house was not prepared and was not cleared from the previous occupants which was an unpleasant surprise. We contacted the owner and the cleaning lady was there right away to fix it. Looks like it was a confusion on her part for the dates of our arrival. It delayed our check- in time for additional hour and a half, and the owner expended the check-out to make it fair.

We found everything needed in the house for cooking and entertainment. One miss was the paper towels and dish sponges.

This is a sweet reminder for the owners to stock up on this items as they may go fast from one occupant to another. :)

Overall, we had a great time and will definitely recommend this place to our friends to check!

Thank you!

Ellen and D.

The Lakehouse Stay

  • 4 of 5

We all had a wonderful time staying at this cute home on Deer Lake. It was peaceful and being able to use the row boat to get out in the water was such a nice benefit. The home was clean, everything worked, with the exception of the coffee pot. However there was a nice coffee place only about 3 minutes away so all were happy. If you want to spend a relaxing time on a lake, with very nice neighbors and cute ducks this is the place. I would stay there again if I had the choice.

Weekend Getaway

  • 3 of 5

We were disapointed at the fact that the house was freezing when we got there. Then the next morning we were woke up to banging and a chain saw as they were tearing apart the dock. The whirlpool did not fill above the jets so was useless, which was a big reason I deciced to book the house. With all that being said the house itself is beautiful and well stocked with everything you need. The view of the lake is spectacular. Our stay was not worth what we paid. Not sure if we would book again.

Fantastic Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This lakeside house was perfect for our family vacation. It was fun traveling on the ferry to get there. It was easy to find once you were off the ferry. The place was amazing, the first thing we were in awe with was the spectacular view of the lake as you enter the house. The master bedroom was great, jacuzzi bath and wonderful view, we had a good nights sleep. We had great weather so we were able to get in the canoe and explore the lake. We enjoyed the lovely kitchen and shopped locally in Langley at the Red Apple market, they even had a Red Box Video selection to rent for the night. So relaxing eating dinner and enjoying the view through the huge picture windows. We ate out one night at Portico Latin Bistro in Langley, excellent food with sea views. We also loved the wines at Spoiled Dog Winery, family winery with hand crafted wines, small productions. Lots of cool little seaside villages throughout the island to explore, enjoyed the bridge and views at Deception point. Our camping neighbors were friendly and they managed to catch quite a few fish from the lake, they even offered us a fishing rod to use. One of the highlights for me was spotting a bald eagle which landed close to the house and of course the family of geese, very cool! We ventured into Seattle one day, found parking easy and explored the Space Needle & Dale Chihuly glass museum, both were spectacular. We also went into the EMP a music museum, very cool for our teenage son. We got the Monorail into the town 5mins and went to Pikes Market, crazy busy on a Saturday, but super fun to people watch and buy local produce. Whidbey was the best place to stay for us on our road trip, we could explore a lot of different places in WA! We just wished we had more time.

Exactly as pictured

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. Amazing views, very comfortable stay, clean house. 5 min drive from Clinton ferry and easy to find. We did not have any reason to contact owners while we stayed. We did not use fireplace since weather was great, and it got a bit warm in afternoon, but we left windows open to cool down.

Went to Red Apple grocery store 5-10 min drive away for basic groceries. It has the basic needs, but variety and stock is poor. Produce was not very good, and dairy, baby food, etc were expired for some, so be careful to check expiration dates. I would recommend doing grocery shopping on the Mukilteo side before getting on ferry.

We took the row boat out and had a good time. Water is pretty shallow at the edge and saw other kids playing in water, but we did not go in.

Kitchen is well stocked with pots/pans, dishes, etc. Everything needed was there including wine opener. :-)

Minor complaints may be that walls were very thin so if some of the people are going to bed early (we had a young child), they can hear everything from the living room. Also, some of the towels smelled bad like it had been sitting wet for too long before drying, but this can be easily fixed by rewashing since they have washer/drying and provide washing detergent (although no dryer sheets).

The check-out process included taking out trash, loading dishwasher, piling up all the towels used (it says you can run washer if you want, but I figured this may be responsible for the rag smell if it waits too long for dryer, so I did not run the washer). I loved the fact that they don't charge for cleaning, and was happy to do my part tidying up.

This place is great, and met my very picky and high standards. 5 stars!

Deer Lake has maximum depth of 50 feet and reaches 25 feet a short paddle from our dock. The depth at the dock is 3 to 4 feet and reaches a nice swimming depth of 7 feet about 30 feet from the dock. The distance to the far side of the lake is a half-mile. On summer evenings there are people swimming all over the lake. There is a public boat launch 3 blocks away if you bring a boat on a trailer and you can tie your boat up at our dock.

WaterFront, Wi-Fi, Boat, Private Dock....... Families can also keep travel costs down with good fishing close to home! Save gas and time. We are located about 30 minutes drive plus 15 minutes ferry ride from Seattle Downtown. The Best Location! Washington’s single biggest fishing season opener April 25 is still one of the best bargains in local family recreation. Several hundred lakes, stocked by the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) with millions of hatchery-reared fish, open on April 25 for a four-to five-month-long fishing season. It’s our biggest fishing season opener because it traditionally draws more than 300,000 anglers of all ages in Washington Lakes. For more info and photos: www.whidbeybeach.com
