Overview

Duncans Mills House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4)

Welcome to River Gardens, the remarkably versatile Russian River property that is just as suitable for a family retreat as it is for a honeymoon stay.

Say goodbye to stress and hello to peace, privacy, romance, and plain old fun on a very lush, fully fenced, 3/4 of an acre. Perfect for one or two couples, or a family.

Let the kids run and play on the large lawn while you enjoy a cocktail on the porch. Watch them swing under the shade of the huge bay tree while keeping your other eye on the otters swimming in the river. Wake up early and see a blue heron catch its breakfast.

Launch our canoe or kayaks from the private beach and paddle up to the town of Guerneville or down to the mouth of the Pacific. Cuddle by the fire when the fog rolls in. Relax in the jacuzzi bathtub and settle in for a night of comfort on premium mattresses and fine linens. Play a boardgame or grab one of our 150 books and dig in.

Location, location, location. Drive to Jenner and the ocean in 10 minutes (make sure to take our kite!), Bodega Bay in under 30, and Guerneville in 15 minutes. Renowned wineries dot the area and make for a wonderful afternoon of wine tasting and picnicking.

The driving destinations are plentiful, but it's what's in easy (and we mean easy!) walking distance that makes River Gardens the ultimate location. Located at the end of a country lane in Duncans Mills (on the town side of the bridge if you're familiar with the area), it's a breeze to walk to town where you'll find gourmet coffee and mochas, antique and specialty shops, wine and cheese tasting, the post office, brick oven pizza, and the popular Cape Fear Restaurant. You can also walk to the town's General Store for food staples, ice cream, or a nice bottle of local wine. It is entirely possible to leave your car in Park for the whole weekend and still find everything you need.

A beautiful setting. A beautiful house. It's all here, at River Gardens.

Thank you so much! We had a wonderful time this weekend--we all enjoyed the yard and beach, especially Veikko. Veikko says thanks for the dog treats! We love your home and hope to return soon. Thanks so very much.

A dream come true

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not even come close to what this property has to offer. Peace, tranquility, closeness to nature, privacy - all in a well-kept, cozy home full of light. One can slip into this oasis and never feel as if one is in a rented place - it becomes home immediately. It is ideal for a personal retreat, for sharing unforgettable memories with a loved one, for relaxing and getting off the grid (almost). I am sure families would enjoy it, too, because the garden is expansive and the river access a delight. One can only wish that all visitors treat this exceptional home with the respect it and its generous owners deserve.

Hidden riverfront gem! Step back in time!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful riverfront property tucked away down a dirt road just miles from the coast. Enter the gated property into the the beautiful gardens, and a magical little home awaits you. The acre property is completely fenced, which is great for kids and dogs, and has very mature trees and landscaping. It's a private oasis. The house is perfect for a family to vacation at with open kitchen, comfortable living room stocked with games and books, and two bedroom (that are connected) and 1.5 baths. The deck is perfect for BBQing and dining outdoors and the patio has a gas fire pit for sitting around and enjoying company, a glass of wine and a few too many s'mores! The river is right behind the property and there is a gate so dogs and kids can't freely run into the river at their whim. 😉 There are two kayaks and a canoe and many life vests. The river is wide and deep behind the house for great canoeing and kayaking, with a picturesque view to enjoy from the dock. (No river views from the home, the view is of the magistical trees with complete privacy, but the river is directly behind the property). The tiny town is only a short walk down the dirt road with a great coffee shop/bakery, candy store, post office, general store, a few galleries and little shops and 2 restaurants. We highly recommend this home for a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of life. Life slows down in Duncan Mills to a beautiful pace and this riverfront home captures it perfectly.

Amazing location!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at a lot of rental vrbo homes and this is the first place that my children (ages 8 & 10) are begging to return to. The gardens and grounds are magical and our labradoodle enjoyed the run of the fenced yard. We enjoyed use of the canoe and the inner tubes on the river. We will absolutely come back to this relaxing, peaceful location.

A private, magical, riverside paradise

  • 5 of 5

The house is beautifully designed; we found ourselves repeating "They made such good choices with the space!" all weekend. The only other people we saw the whole weekend were boaters going up and down the river. It felt like we had our own slice of 1800's California, with our own private river, forest, and tree swing. This is a lovely space perfect for a family, a couple couples, or a few friends looking to get away from everything. I can't wait to find an excuse to go back.

Nice riverside proerty

  • 4 of 5

Nice home next to the river. It would be perfect for a family during the warmer months. It has a great yard for playing and lots of water craft to enjoy the river. We were there during the colder months but loved the stars and enjoyed walking to town for coffee and morning pastries one morning. The 2 bedrooms are separated by folding glass doors and heavy curtains. We could hear one another, although since we are good friends it was not an issue. The owners are very responsive to all concerns and questions. We cooked all of our meals in the well stocked kitchen and enjoyed our stay.

Perfection, privacy and tranquility

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here over New Years with my wife, daughter and the in-laws and were perfectly comfortable with the 2 beds / 2 bathroom arrangement. The kitchen has everything you need and more to cook up anything you can imagine. We bought food at one of the local farmers markets and bought excellent local raised, grass fed beef from the General Store. Even though it was middle of winter, we still BBQed on the grill. The garden is completely private and quiet, and was still very green even in the middle of winter. We borrowed the canoe and paddled down to Jenner on New Years day, a leisurely cruise takes about 2 hours and you can buy rope at the gas station there to tie the canoe to the top of your car. Anyway, it was an excellent vacation, we are very grateful for the stay and hope to come back again in warmer months.
