Mountain Home, 5 bedrms, 2.5 Baths, Sleeps 11-13 With Private Valley in back
Thanks for viewing our listing! We’d love for you to come and stay in our Mountain Serenity home in Angel Fire, New Mexico! 'Mountain Serenity' is a beautiful luxury mountain home ideal for creating family memories. We think you’ll prefer our home over others and here’s why:
** We have owned and rented this house for 11 years and as a result, we are experienced in knowing what families want and need from their vacation home. We actively seek feedback from our guests and every year we invest in maintenance and improvements to keep the home looking its best. Our house is kept very clean. Our furniture is always up to date – most recently, in October 2016 we purchased new furniture for the living room and gameroom and in November 2016 we added a hot tub on the deck.
**The house has a spectacular view of a private valley where all you see are trees and sky and wildlife, and the house is on 3 lots so it’s secluded and private, yet it’s so close to town- only 1 mile to the grocery store and 2 miles to the ski lift or golf course.
**It sleeps up to 13, which is ideal for 2-3 families. It has 4 bedrooms (2 kings, 2 queens) and a kids room (bunk beds, another twin) and sleeper sofa in the gameroom. It has 2-1/2 bathrooms.
**We provide the backdrop for creating great family memories in your mountain getaway away from the big city, such as a hot tub on the porch, decks with rocking chairs and porch swings where you can have coffee or happy hour and watch the wildlife, an outdoor firepit (and we provide a stocked wood pile too) to gather around while making s’mores and telling stories, a log see-saw and outdoor fort for the kids to enjoy, sleds in the winter and access to the Angel Fire trail system just behind the house from which you can walk all around Angel Fire.
**The house is fully stocked for you with everything you’ll need for your stay – linens and towels, hair dryers, detergent for washing machine and dishwasher, shampoo & body wash, kitchen soap, paper towels, napkins, spices and olive oil. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need – even if you’re cooking Thanksgiving dinner! All you need to buy is the food!
If you’re intrigued, read on for more details.
Our house has 3 floors so everyone can spread out and have their own space. The top floor has 2 bedrooms (one with queen bed and one with king bed) and a full bathroom. The main floor has a master bedroom with a king bed and full bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi tub. There is also a half-bath on the main floor. The bottom floor has a bedroom with a queen bed, a sleeper sofa in the gameroom and a kids’ room separated by a curtain with a set of bunk beds and an elevated twin bed. Bedrooms and bathrooms are fully stocked with pillows, linens/blankets, towels, shampoo and body wash, hair dryers and hand soap.
Your group will enjoy spreading out in the multiple living areas in the house. The main floor has a living room with comfy furniture and a gas fireplace. The living room is part of a great room area connected to the kitchen and breakfast eating area – one of my personal favorite times is when you are in the house during a snowstorm – watching snow fall across the valley onto the trees is just magical. On the lower floor is the gameroom where families can gather to play air hockey or watch TV together or play cards, games or puzzles – all provided for you. The kids’ room is a fun haven for the little ones with board games, stuffed animals and toys.
Creating and eating meals together is another way to create great family memories and the Mountain Serenity home provides everything you need. Our kitchen features stainless appliances, a double oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, coffee makers (regular and a Keurig), blender, griddle, crockpot. All plates, glassware, baking/cookware, pots, pans, utensils are all provided. In addition, we have a cabinet full with olive oil, flour, sugar, and spices to get you started. And on the back covered porch is a gas grill.
For dining seating, we have several options – there are 2 barstools at the kitchen counter, a breakfast table that seats 4 and also a full dining room with doors that close for privacy and a huge table that seats 8 people.
We aim to provide the ingredients for everyone to have fun and be entertained while inside the Mountain Serenity home. The gameroom has an air hockey table, TV with DVD player, a card table and puzzles and games. The living area has a sound system with radio and connections for your smart phone to play music that way. The house has internet and wifi. There’s also a TV and DVD player in the master bedroom.
Outside, we aim to provide the setting for fun family memories. The back of the house has a deck with rocking chairs and side tables – great in the summertime, having coffee in the morning or happy hour in the afternoon, taking in the mountain air and spotting wildlife in the valley which are most commonly seen around dawn and dusk. The front porch is covered and has a porch swing and table and chairs – great for watching kids play in the yard or sitting and staying dry while watching a rain shower or snow storm. There’s a gas grill on the covered back porch as well for grilling in summer or winter. The front yard has a firepit with stocked wood pile for family gatherings in winter or summer. On the front porch is the hot tub, perfect for family conversations and relaxation after skiing or hiking. Relax on the hammock in the yard in the summer while watching the kids play on our homemade see-saw or while they play in and add to our kids’ fort. It’s so nice to watch kids explore nature in our huge yard and the woods beside our house – and in the summers here where the temperature is in the 70s, kids play outside all day long – like when we all grew up. In the winter, our driveway is perfect for sledding (we provide the sleds) and the yard perfect for snowmen and snowball fights.
The Angel Fire hiking trail system is adjacent to the house and is great for family walks (the "Elk" trail is directly behind our house and there's a trail from our back yard to get to it). You can walk to the grocery store from these trails and walk all around Angel Fire from these trails.
LAUNDRY ROOM/MUD ROOM
Entering the house from the garage is our mud room/laundry room. It has ample hooks for coats and rubber mats for boots. We have a front load washer and dryer with provided detergent and dryer sheets. There is another area inside the front door with boot mats and a hall closet for coats so everyone can spread out.
When you get to the house, we have a garage to park your vehicle in, which you’ll appreciate in the winter. Our house sits down from the road so the driveway slopes down to the house. We spend a lot of time and expense maintaining the driveway so that it’s easy for people to get down and less intimidating for those who aren’t used to driving in the snow. Our property manager will have the driveway plowed and cindered after a storm and you are able to request additional plowings at any time should you need it. There is also a parking spot halfway down the driveway or you can also park at the top.
HAVE A LARGER GROUP OR WANT A DIFFERENT PROPERTY?
We also own the house next door and it's available for rent if you want a different configuration or you have a big group that wants to rent houses close to each other. About Cheryl Harte
Our family is from the Dallas, TX area. We have been coming out to Angel Fire for about 11 years and we love to escape to cooler temperatures there in the summer and just love the snow and activities in the winter. We bought our first rental property at that time and have spent these years developing our experience of working with travelers to provide memorable vacation experiences. We bought a 2nd rental property in 2014 (www.homeaway.com/3834316) and travelers have enjoyed that home as well. In 2017, through our company Mountain Serenity Rentals, we have begun to market properties for other owners. Our plan is to be very selective about the properties we'll market, looking for the ones that will best fit what travelers look for in vacation rentals. Why Cheryl Harte chose Angel Fire
We love this property for the proximity to town, an easy 5 min drive. Yet, the property is secluded and has a private valley in the back with gorgeous views. And the house is just the style you'd only see in the mountains, like nothing you'd see in Dallas - such a great mountain getaway
What makes this House unique
I've always loved the look of this house as you drive up to it. It just has that feel of what you'd picture a mountain home to be. I love the layout of the 3 floors so your group can spread out. And one of my favorite aspects is that is sits on a private valley where deer and elk come to play and it's just so magnificent to watch.

Great family get away!
This is such a great property! It has everything you need and more. Our group of three families has stayed at Mountain Serenity two years in a row and we will definitely be back!
This is our 4th time to stay here and loved it every time. We really enjoyed being able get in the hot tub this year after a great day of skiing. The house is always clean and has a big kitchen with all the supplies needed for cooking. We all had a great vacation once again. Thank you so much for letting us stay in stay in your beautiful home!
The home is generally well stocked. Layout is nice and home is very well maintained. We enjoyed our stay! The drive is steep, but not a problem for us...not much snow and 4x4 vehicles. Also, the drive had been bladed and was in good shape. I would recommend renting and would rent this home again if given the opportunity! I appreciate the texts and emails that are sent with information prior to arrival and on checkout day. Not all owners are as good at this! Information made entry, etc. a breeze.
Beautiful home and great location!
Our winter ski trip was a big success! This home definitely played a huge factor in that. All 10 of us had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy several activities at once. We had a puzzle going at one table, a few people in the hot tub and building crafts at the large dining table. We were so close to the store and mountain. The kitchen has great quality cook wear and every gadget as well. Cheryl was so kind and stayed in contact before, during and after our trip! She went out of her way to ensure we had everything for our holiday trip by providing a tree to place our Christmas gifts under and hid my hubby’s fedex gift so it was a true surprise for him! Such a great overall experience. We rent homes annually for our family trips since there’s always at least 9 people and I can truly say Cheryl and her rental company have been the easiest and kindest to work with. We will definitely be back! Thanks again! From the Cruz crew :)
Loved our stay!
This was our second time to stay in Mountain Serenity. We love the home's peaceful setting that looks out over the green belt where we watched the beautiful sunrise and spotted at least 8 deer. It's a 5 minute drive to the ski area; but feels secluded. Great stay!
We had an awesome time here. Our family met after Christmas in this BEAUTIFUL mountain home. Most of my family were going skiing at Angel Fire. Most of them skied everyday. There wasn’t much snow but they kept a good run maintained on the hill. It was better than Red River ski because it was so crowded. The house is just how it is explained. Lots of room -8 adults 5 kids. We never felt the need to go out to eat which saved us a lot of money. Great roomy kitchen to cook. Hot tub was great! I recently had knee surgery so couldn’t ski. There is a really great elk trail right behind the house and woods. Deer cane right through the yard in the evening. I would definitely recommend this place and hope to go again. The only issue was the sewer smell. If you keep your water usage down and don’t all shower at once it’s not an issue. Mountain septic. I would just like to thank Cheryl for providing a place I could make great memories with my family!
So glad this traveler enjoyed our place so much. We strive to have guests arrive and have the place exceed the expectations they have. Glad they enjoyed the hot tub we added last summer - I knew that would be a hit. Sorry about the septic smell - we've since remedied that by having our septic pumped - something you do in the mountains every few years. So no problem with multiple showers.
We are located 5 min drive from Angel Fire Resort for skiing and summer activities.
