Hurray!! We won 'Best Villa Event Rental 2013' in our local newspaper! Didn't even know we were in the running!
We moved here December 1st, 2006 and absolutely love it. We love to Paddle Board and 'Ride Out' with the St Thomas VW club (we currently have the only VW Thing on St Thomas :) Days off are almost always spent at the beach with friends then hitting a Happy Hour somewhere for a snack. We are avid animal lovers and spend non beach days at our local Humane Society doing volunteer work of some sort. Around the yard you may spot a rescued tortoise on it's way to eat in our feeding area. We also have a feeding station for bananaquits, the state bird of the Virgin Islands.
We are originally from Southern California and it wasn't easy to talk Richard into the move, but now he couldn't be happier. Be careful you, too, may decide to stay!!
Lisa Morgan purchased this villa in 2006
We bought this land just after 9/11 with the intention of retiring here, then several years later decided not to wait until retirement. So....we sold everything in Southern California---our home and our business and here we are!! Well, after a lot of work and insanity to get this place built! We love the Island Life and at this point can't imagine ever leaving.
Because this house is round there is just something so peaceful about it. We're in a great neighborhood and I truly sleep well at night knowing I get to wake up to my amazing view in the morning.
Richard & Lisa ( Bones and Farley Too)
Thank you for all of your hospitality and great suggestions while we were here! You certainly made us feel like we were part of the family! We hope to be able to come back and visit in the Future.
The name is legit, high up a hill, pleasant breezes keep the warm tropical air from overwhelming you. There is a/c but never turned it on in a week. The views are amazing, both from the villa and the pool, which is down two flights of stairs. The owners were pleasant and attentive, but not overbearing. About equidistant between two supermarkets, Pueblo and Food Center....went to Pueblo first before later discovering Food Center was nicer and has better selection. Centrally located between Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook where you catch ferries to St. john or BVI. Grill makes for easy self-catering, or there are a number of places to eat that are good and not too long of a drive. To get the great views, you do need to drive up a good sized hill....probably need a designated driver, would not attempt it after a few strong rum punches. highly reccommend.
We came to the island for our daughter's wedding and chose to stay at Bay Breeze Villa. The view from the balcony is stunning, you can see St. Johns to the left and the bay at Iggie's just below. This was my place for morning coffee and peace. The accommodations where very nice, clean and comfortable. Lisa and Richard made us feel right at home and went above and beyond in all cases.
We had the wedding rehearsal dinner at Iggie's, which was outstanding, and we ate at Fish Tails in Red Hook which was even better. Most of our time was spent at the resort preparing for the wedding and being with family that had traveled in.
I can't say enough about how nice Richard and Lisa were to us and how much we were welcomed. We wished that we had been able to stay longer and not have the stress of the wedding pulling at us (not a bad thing).
We will come back and will diffidently stay at Bay Breeze Villa again. Thank you Lisa and Richard for a great place to stay!
Beautiful property with amazing views, however that is where the good things end.
We arrived late at night exhausted, and received a brief for approximately 30 mins on everything from the rules to how to use the remote control. The next morning we were intercepted by Richard and not very politely told to close all the windows if using the AC in any room (there are 3 separate AC units and we forgot). We closed the windows and turned off the ACs when we left the next day and Lisa yelled over the balcony at us when we arrived that we forgot to turn off all the fans. Little did we know that Richard had then disabled the AC until the next morning when he came up and knocked on the door again to lecture us about his power bill.
We came out for a nice quiet vacation, and in return we got owners that wanted to bother us every time we walked up to our room. We left early because we were tired of the confrontations about their power bill as a paying customer. We attempted to appease the owners by turning things off and being quiet, but it was ridiculously hot with no AC, and we were not able to relax with Richard and Lisa constantly supervising our every move.
Their office is located inside the room you will be renting, so be advised that privacy will not happen.
My husband and I travel to the Caribbean every year for a week and have been using VRBO for several years. At each location, we play a game between us of, if we owned the property, what would we have done differently/improved. Amazingly enough, this villa was just about perfect and it made our "game" somewhat short (so we turned our attention to drinking more piña coladas instead ;) ). Richard and Lisa are great hosts and are very considerate of privacy as well as being helpful when needed (dinner recommendations, grocery store locations, etc.). There are many reviews about their dogs (which are both angels!), but don't worry if you're not a dog person as they are very respectful to keep them put away as needed. As we left, my husband said, "I would definitely come back here again," which he has never said before! All in all, the villa is amazing and the views are incredible!
An incredible mountain top view! Wonderful hosts! Super place to relax. The words "Bay Breeze" couldn't be more descriptive. There are beautiful birds, wonderful vegetation and "Bones," an adorable four-legged greeter. We highly recommend this property and hope to return. The owners were available for recommendations. We took a car barge to St. John for one day. We loved driving and exploring both St. Thomas and St. John. Everything we wanted to see and do was within a short driving distance. We were able to have a balance of home cooked meals and restaurant outings.
What a fantastic place. Richard and Lisa are wonderful people and we had a great time staying at their villa. They had some really good recommendations on local places and they gave us a great military rate. The snorkel trip that Richard brought us on was the highlight of our trip. That is with the exception of hanging out by the pool with Bones the dog. The villa has gorgeous views and the property is landscaped beautifully. The wrap around balcony was a great place to grill and see the island from. My group is definitely planning on staying at Bay Breeze again next year.
