The house was beautiful and in a convenient location to Soaring Eagle lift (about a 3-5 minute walk depending on your pace). Also you could drive up the hill and park at Top of the World but it really wasn't a bad walk. We did it with kids, all of us in ski boots and we walked back for lunch each day.
It was fantastic to have a garage to park the cars in. With the garage fitting 2 cars and then space in the driveway for 2 cars, no need for anyone to be in the road, and I'm not sure why some cars were parked in the road the entire time, but with all the cars slipping and sliding you do NOT want to park in the road. Beware - It is definitely a tough hill to get up if you don't have 4 wheel drive and get some snow while you are there. We didn't have a problem because we have a 4WD truck but saw many cars get stuck and helped a few get unstuck while we were there.
My biggest complaint is with the cost and niceness of the house it was very disappointing that the fireplace wasn't working. Without the fireplace working, the main level was always a bit cold, no matter how high we turned up the heat. And the heat is very slow to respond. The day we got there when the heat was turned very low (thermostat said 50) our group had to wrap up in blankets because it was so cold even 4 hours after we had turned the heat up. So it would have been nice to have the cleaning crew turn up the heat when they know someone is coming in. Plus at a ski resort you really want a fireplace to warm up by when you come in from skiing, particularly the weekend we were there when it was negative temps.
But we loved the garage and having a code to get in the garage made it easy because there was no key to lose and everyone in the party (all 8 of us) knew the code meaning if we split up anyone could get in the house without needing a key. Kitchen was well stocked to include a cheese grater (we normally bring our own but forgot this time and were very pleasantly surprised to find one). Beds were comfy. Heated floors in the bathroom were awesome!!!! (Water pressure in the master bathroom not awesome, but others said it was okay in other bathrooms). Also, hot water runs out quickly which was a downer. Loved having a washer and dryer, particularly the dryer to dry wet ski clothes. Well stocked with books and games.
Overall owner was responsive. Many people checking into Sawmill couldn't find their house. We had great directions and no problem finding it.
