Arizona Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 5 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 10)

There is no place more quiet , cool and serene than Mt. Lemmon. Located just a short 45 minute drive from the valley of Tucson , AZ , Mt. Lemmon is 20 - 30 degrees cooler , receives 2 to 3 times more rain and is a world apart from the Sonoran desert below . Imagine sweltering in 100 + degree temps and just 45 minutes away being in the cool whispering pines where day time temperatures average in the 70' s and night time temps during the summer are in the 50' s.

The average temperature is 20 to 30 degrees cooler here than on the desert floor.

There are others for rent on Mt. Lemmon but ask before you rent. This may be the ONLY cabin that is located in a unburned area. Two wildfires in 2002 and 2005 burned much of the forest. Many cabins have been rebuilt but few have any foliage to shelter them during the summer.

If being in the trees and sitting on a deck partially shaded from the glaring sun of Southern Arizona is important to you , this is your next vacation spot!

This cabin was constructed in 2002 and purchased new . I added a 940 square foot deck which wraps the whole upper floor. There was originally a covered deck with balcony on the upper floor , now there is a new open deck which extends that covered balcony space and brings outside life into the trees . It is the perfect place to spend a summer day in a hammock , invite some friends over for breakfast or relax after dinner before the summer storms roll in . Weddings and large family and group gatherings are welcomed in this special outdoor space. I host several open air concerts on this deck during the summer for 50- 75 people.

Once night time falls retreat to the interior of this hunting lodge style cabin to watch some favorite movies , read , play a board game or sleep with the sound of the wind whispering through the trees that surround the cabin .

On cooler nights, the house is warmed by a gas stove on the upper floor and a gas heater on the lower floor . There are three bathrooms, one on each floor. Two have showers and the upper floor features a Jacuzzi tub. With queen beds in each bedroom and sleeping area and one loft bedroom with a double bed and single , a single day bed in the living room along with a queen size convertible and cots , this cabin can accommodate your family and friends for a weekend or a week whatever your pleasure .

This is my private home and I have decorated it with personal belongings . I hope that you respect the fact that I am sharing my home with you and respect the decorations in the house as if they were your own.

About Rick

I am a native Tucsonan who loves the mountains and the cool retreat that I have created in my cabin. I am a very active person and this cabin is located very near several excellent hiking trails.

Rick purchased this cabin in 2002

Why Rick chose Arizona

Tucson is a very dry climate yet less than 1 hour away you are transported to 8000' elevation and temperatures which are substantially cooler than the valley floor .

What makes this cabin unique

Quiet reading spots, comfy beds and great cabin for families and couples.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I want to thank you for sharing your lovely cabin, on Mt. Lemmon, with our family and friends.

From the moment----- sent us the pictures of it, over the computer, I was so excited to be having my 80th birthday celebration there, and we sure weren't disappointed. In fact, it surpassed our expectations.

And thank you for your nice E-mail saying we left it in good shape and you would welcome us back again. We apologize for also turning off the refrigerator, but the girls were so conscientious about following your instructions,

they missed that one. I hope it didn't cause too bad a cleanup of the melted ice in the freezer.

Well, I've gone on long enough, but wanted you to know what a treat it was to spend this very special weekend, in my life, at your lovely cabin.

We are so glad it was spared in the fire. A couple of our friends lost everything at that time.

May you have continued happy times, at the cabin yourself, and we hope we can enjoy it again also.

Sincerely
Jul 2010

GOORGEOUS!!!

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I stayed here through a weekend and it was absolutely B-E-A- utiful!!!! We enjoyed oour stay very much. The instructions on how to open and turn on the cabin and clean the cabin were very easy to follow and everything worked to perfection. We especially loved the grill and the outside balcony/patio area. We spent the weekend relaxing and everything is a few minutes walk away; walking trails, restaurant, store (main summerhaven area.) we couldn't have asked for anything more during our stay. The entire cabin was clean and ready to go as soon as we arrived. Lots of plates, pots, pans, etc. We took a little more than we needed since we didn't know exactly was they had. The heating throughout the cabin worked wonders. We even got a little too warm so we had to step outside in the 40 some degree weather just to cool down quickly. The beds were comfortable...more than enough space for the 8 of us that went. I could go on and on about the great amenities and time that we spent there but overall, this is the cabin to rent on Mt. lemmon! Rick was very helpful and timely with all qu estions I had for him. I couldn't have asked for anything more wonderful for my outing with friends. Thank you very much Rick!

Serene, cozy, accommodating paradise in the mountains!

We had the pleasure to stay for the weekend to celebrate my birthday with family and friends, when we opened the door we were pleasantly surprised at all the room this house has and the beautiful deck to extend the space.. The kitchen is VERY well stocked with everything you could need to cook with (sans food of course). The beds are very comfortable, only wished one was a King sized bed, my husband is 6'2 and needs a little more room.. but laying in bed and listening tot he rain on the tin roof was amazing! My only caution to this property would be to be aware that the driveway and road up tot he driveway are very steep and they are dirt roads that are not always maintained so driving a low profile vehicle up there is not advisable, we had friends park down in town in a lot and we drove them up. But great place for a family get together or just a quiet weekend to relax! Thank you Rick for sharing your beautiful home with us!

Owner's Response: Thanks for your great review. you are right about the road and this is mentioned in the description of the property to potential renters. I do have a two wheel drive vehicle and make it up to the cabin regularly but it is an un maintained dirt road so clearance is an issue. Thank you and see you again, I hope.

True log cabin feel with amazing treetop deck! Beds were comfortable, kitchen complete. Cozy and wonderful space for family game night. Also, appreciate Rick being available for any questions. Nature walks just down the block. Highly recommend it and can see myself returning next year.... :)

Women's Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We needed a cabin that could house many people and give them a comfortable place in the trees to rest and have fun. The ladies attending the retreat loved this cabin! The kitchen was large enough for everyone to pitch in with meals, the deck is absolutely wonderful and equipped with enough tables and chairs for everyone to enjoy the cool weather and beautiful trees. We want to come back with our families. Thank you Rick!

Notes:
This accommodation is a mountain cabin in a community which is 45 minutes away from Tucson, AZ. Although it is a fantastic get away there is no doubt that living in the forest is different than renting a room at a 5 star hotel. Depending on the season there may be bugs, moths, sun , heat, wind, rain, snow, ice which may change your vacation environment. These are all a part of the attraction of being someplace other than a Marriott or a Hilton.
