Bob is retired law enforcement officer and Judy was a school teacher and hardware retailer. We retired 10 years ago, moved to the NC mountains and built our vacation rentals. We drew on our own vacation experiences and designed and built our rentals to provide you the best vacation possible.
bob & judy futrell purchased this cabin in 2005
Our rentals were designed to be vacation rentals and not just older repurposed dwellings. We built them not just to look nice (which they do), but to be very functional with all the modern conveniences. We have furnished them with everything we could think of to make them comfortable for you. And best of all is the setting. A quiet dead end lane in the middle of the beautiful west north carolina mountains convenient to all the things you come to the mountains for. And did I mention that we are at 3100 feet elevation for a nice escape from the summer heat, but not so high as to be a problem with snow and ice in the winter.
From the full length covered front porch with Amish built swing and rockers to the full length rear deck with table, chairs and gas grill and everything in between, you will fall in love with this little log cabin built of native red cedar.
Thank you bob and judy for the memories. Tou truly have a hidden gem up here. Well, not really hidden any more judging from all the comments from all over. Beautiful roads, great people and wonderful hospitality. We will keep on coming back for more. Your friendly Canadians, Howie, Krista, Warren & Sara Niagra Falls, Ontario
Absolutely loved our week at the Cedar Cabin. Secluded area yet nearby all of the exciting things that a family would like to do while on vacation. Bob and Judy keep the cabin wonderfully stocked for all of your needs all we had to do was arrive and get groceries! Cannot wait to see the beauty in the summertime. The kids loved being in a wooded area in what they called a "wooden fort". We were able to use the information and maps provided by Bob and Judy to hit up all the tourist areas and enjoyed gem mining, the mystery hill, Hawksnest snow tubing and beautiful hiking.
My husband and I stayed at this cabin for a quick weekend getaway. The pictures don't do it justice. The cabin was decorated just like you would expect. It was a cozy and immaculate. Making the reservation was easy, with quick replies and responses from owner Bob. We enjoyed meeting Bob and enjoyed our brief stay. Would love to return for a longer stay. Visited Little Switzerland and Spruce Pine, and even did a little gem mining! I would highly recommend this cabin.
My wife, 6 y/o daughter, and I rented this cabin for a last minute weekend/early week mountain getaway before my daughter started school. Let me tell you that it lived up to the photos. It was everything we needed and more. The cabin is laid out well and we longed for nothing. All amenities were available minus groceries. You are close to Spruce Pine and the Blue Ridge Parkway. Be sure to check out Altapass Orchards and pick your own apples. Bob and Judy were a pleasure to deal with and we even met Bob as we were leaving. Top notch guy. We will be coming back again.
my husband and I and another couple rented the cedar log cabin for our visit to Little Switzerland for a wedding. We were looking for a place that would allow our three dogs to stay with us so they could come enjoy the mountains with us. We definitely were not disappointed by the cabin. The cedar cabin is so cute and quaint, perfect size for a weekend get away. Everything was extremely clean and the cabin was fully stocked with towels, blankets, plates, etc to make our stay enjoyable. The cabin is secluded and on private property so there is no traffic going in or out. There is not much of a view as it sits back in a wooded area, but that isn't what we rented this for. Bob and Judy live just up the road and they came down after our arrival to introduce themselves and make sure we had everything we needed for our stay. Extremely nice people!! The only thing that I would suggest is an upgrade to the grill as it was difficult to start and a little rusty which gave an odd flavor to our food that we cooked. We would definitely come back to the cabin for another weekend as it is not a bad drive and very close to Crabtree Falls, which is a beautiful hike, and to other areas with fun things to do!
My husband and I rented the Cedar Cabin for our five year anniversary. It was easy to find, very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway (and Linville Falls) and wonderfully cozy. It had all the conveniences of home but still had a rustic feel. So many personal touches--from fresh wildflowers on the dining table to pumpkins on the porch--Bob and Judy are wonderful hosts and provided everything we could possibly need. They recommended a close-by restaurant, Mountain View, which had an outstanding view of the mountains from the deck (great food too). The cabin felt secluded and our nine-month old son loved it too! We plan to return someday!
Very Very nice Cabin Well stocked Very clean.Peaceful place to stay. The owners were very nice and easy to communicate with. There are very good restaurants around but if you wont a home cooked meal there are more than enough pots and pans to do the job. This cabin makes you fill at home. Larry & Pat
