This house is perfect for a large gathering of people with diverse interests. Our fishermen fished each day (and CAUGHT a steelhead); our walkers went to the beach each day, and our cooks and sitters sat happily by the fireplace in the main room , cooking, reading and talking. New Year's Eve we sat around the fireplace and told stories -- and watched the fireworks from La Push (or maybe Rialto Beach?) which was a lovely little bonus!

80 acres of peace and calm. The river is great for spending the day and the house is simple but functional.
We stayed for a week vacation with our grown children and grandchildren:) there were 15 of us and the house accommodated us all plus a friend who came and stayed in a tent and went surfing every morning:)
I didn't know what to expect, but was pleased with the home. Rustic yet charming, nice, but not so nice that you had to worry about kids playing and giant messy family dinners!! Was slightly worried about the previous review, but found that the things mentioned were taken care of or not that big of a deal.
The scenery was beautiful! Friendly horses (one of which absolutely adored the kids!!), cows and bald eagles that nest in the dead tree across the pasture:)
We brought our quads for tooling around the property and my 6 year old grandson had a blast in the river with his brand new kayak!
Daily jaunts down to swim in the beautiful river on the property, a couple miles to some of the most beautiful beaches in Washington state!
Picnicking in La Push! Hiking Second and Third Beach! Watching glorious sunsets at Rialto Beach! Fishing, swimming and kayaking the Bogachiel River! Day trip to the Olympic National Forest and hiking the "Hall of Mosses"!! Forks and their awesome grocery store and merchantile that had pretty much everything!! Watching the Vampire Meter at the little store down the road with the grand daughters and keeping an eye out for Edward and Bella😉!
The house is by no means spotless, and if you want to stay at a 5 star rental, look somewhere else. But if you want an amazing adventure and can handle a cobweb here and there and some good old country living, Byron's home is perfect for you! Don't forget to watch for the brightest shooting stars you will ever see while sipping wine on the deck!! Enjoy!!
And thanks Byron, for your hospitality!!
We had such a fun time at the cabin. The kids had plenty of room to run. What a fun place to stay and the property is amazing. We loved catching the little frogs.
I have to say we had really positive interactions with the property owner and loved the location and the property. But there were a few disappointments. We had planned on using the kayaks on the listing included in the house, but owner said once we arrived that they were broken, which was too bad because we could have brought ours from home. The worst offense, I am afraid, was the smell of the house. It smelt like wet dog upstairs. The basement wasn't bad. The laundry room upstairs smelt terrible, I had to hold my breath in there...and the laundry room fridge was filthy - but the owner apologized for the fridge afterwards, I guess not realizing it hadn't been cleaned out after the last rental.
The second oven only heated on the bottom and wasn't usable and the hair dryer in the basement did not work. The house is large and sleeps 17 just as stated, just know that one of the basement bedrooms is just curtained off, no wall or door. The bathrooms were clean and the basement was clean, but there was a large hole in the wall in one of the bathrooms.
The rental fee is not that expensive, so I was expecting some of this - but there were things that could be fixed up pretty easy. I would say just make sure these things have been cleared up before you book.
The house has a ton of potential, big rooms upstairs to gather and a big table - just needs some TLC. The best parts were the fire pit and the river on the property which provided my kids with hours of fun skipping rocks. It was just beautiful. And the location was perfect. Right by 1st, 2nd and 3rd beach (2nd was my favorite) and just 45 minutes from the Hoh rainforest. And probably a million other awesome hikes.
Lots of large windows and a large deck make it a great place to relax and watch nature. We enjoyed watching the elk in the morning. I will come back to this house again. It was spacious even for our large group. It was clean and well furnished and had all we needed for our stay. When you drive up you can't tell how big it is inside. It looks very different from the pictures. I actually passed it, thinking I had come to the wrong place. The inside stairs may be a little slick. We had four people slip during our visit.
We had a great time at this property. Kitchen is wellstocked with all the necessities, bbq grill worked great, plenty of room for large families. Awesome experience overall!
