Sitting in the beautiful rolling farmland of the Till Valley on the edge of the Northumberland National Park, No. 9 is an ideal place to escape busy schedules and enjoy a tranquil break in a glorious setting. Light, bright and perfectly positioned, the cottage has been immaculately renovated throughout and is an idyllic spot for families or friends to rest, relax or take a leisurely break walking, cycling or exploring the great outdoors.
The pretty interior is tastefully presented using a restful mix of heritage colours and neutral furnishings in a contemporary cottage style. The charming sitting room enjoys lots of natural light and features a toasty log burner for evenings in or chilly days, while two double sofas provide a snug area to unwind with a good book.
There is a dining area for four guests and the kitchen comes well-equipped for holiday living. The cottage has two comfortable double bedrooms accented by pretty cushions and throws - one with zip and link beds which can be configured as a superking or twin as desired.
The cottage sits at the end of a row of fine sandstone cottages tucked away on the peaceful surroundings of Crookham Eastfield Farm, with a pretty lawned garden to the front of the property which is ideal for sunny al-fresco dining in the warmer months.
The cottage sits just 3.5 miles from Cornhill-on-Tweed which has an excellent village shop selling a super selection of fresh local produce, including picnic hampers and scrummy home baking. It is also home to the highly regarded Collingwood Arms which has a pub as well as a superb restaurant for lingering lunches or fine evening dining. Alternatively, pop your wellies on and take a fifteen minute stroll over the field and woodland margins to the popular Bluebell Inn for a relaxing drink after supper.
A more extensive range of shops, pubs and cafes can be found in the quaint market town of Coldstream (5 miles) where the shopping is small and friendly with a good mix of independent outlets running the length of the High Street, including a family butchers, fruit and veg shop, bakery and small Co-op supermarket for holiday provisions. The Coldstream Gallery is a lovely spot to browse art, ceramics and jewellery by local designers; or pop into Calico Interiors for lifestyle gifts and accessories before coffee and cake at the charmingly named ‘Mad Hatter’ nearby.
A number of larger supermarkets, including a Marks & Spencers food outlet can be found in the historic town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (13 miles), or picturesque Kelso (14 miles) which has an excellent selection of independent shops set around a flemish-style market square.
The accommodation sits on one level and therefore may be suitable for guests with restricted mobility.
Inner hall leading to a cosy sitting room with two sofas set around a wood burning stove (logs supplied). Flatscreen TV with intergrated DVD player and a small selection of DVDs and games. There is a dining area with table and chairs for six guests.
The kitchen is well equipped with an electric cooker and hob, fridge, small dishwasher and microwave. There is a washing machine in a separate utility room along with an iron and ironing board. A freezer for guests’ use is located in the outbuilding directly opposite the property.
Bedroom one - with kingsize bed, chest of drawers, in-built wardrobe and storage, and a charming window seat overlooking the garden.
Bedroom two - with zip and link beds which can be configured as a superking double or twin beds as required. Two bedside tables, small dressing table and large in-built wardrobe.
Bathroom with large shower (no bath), basin, wc, heated towel rail.
Bed linen and towels included.
Hairdryers in both bedrooms.
Hand washes and soaps provided.
Gas central heating throughout, with a wood burner in the sitting room. An unlimited supply of logs is provided.
Wifi & Mobile Network
Wifi is available. The mobile signal can be occasionally intermittent but is generally good.
Babies and Children
A travel cot and high chair are available on request.
Garden and grounds
There is a private lawned garden to the front of the property which is enclosed for the safety of children and dogs. Garden furniture is provided. The rear of the property looks onto a log store and outbuildings. The cottage sits at the end of a row of cottages but is not overlooked. Guests should note that a working farm sits nearby and the access road to the side of the property is in use by farm vehicles. Children and dogs should be supervised in this area.
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be kept to the uncarpeted areas of the property and are not permitted on the soft furnishings.
The property has two designated parking areas - one to the rear of the property and one to the side.
Catering and housekeeping
The cottage can be let on a purely self-catering basis or full or part-catered options are available including a homemade meals and wine delivery service. Daily housekeeping is also available.
Smoking is not permitted in the property.

Warmly welcoming comfortable cottage in a beautiful, exciting part of the country.
A great week long stay in this gorgeous peaceful cottage. It was excellently equipped with absolutely everything we needed and more. Beautifully decorated and furnished to the highest standards. The nesting house martins made for very cute interesting neighbours.
The area was full of interesting places for our family to visit, we could have happily stayed for longer but instead we will have to plan a return trip next year. Can't wait!

A quiet comfortable stay in a well presented and equipped holiday cottage.
No 9 is a lovely well laid out 2 bedroom, single storey holiday cottage, set in what feels like a small hamlet of farm accommodation and holiday rentals. Inside it is well appointed with a good size entrance hall and porch, ideal for dirty boots and wet dogs. There was plenty of hanging space for coats and a well equipped utility room, with cleaning equipment and a washing machine. We had the choice of two large double bedrooms and chose the one overlooking the back garden, as the owner had indicated that there might be noise from farm traffic, but to be fair this was never a problem for us. The bedroom was spacious with good storage for clothes in the wardrobe and chest of drawers, the only slight downside was no bedside units for drinks, glasses, phones etc, we use ours as clocks and enjoy a cuppa in the morning. The shower room and toilet was a good size and had one of the best showers we've had in a holiday rental, the heated towel rail did a great job keeping the shower room warm even after the central heating had gone off at night. The lounge diner was cosy and the settees were comfortable after a day out, the best bit for us was the log burner and a plentiful supply of logs. We had to turn the central heating right down and open the doors to the rest of the cottage to be able to enjoy it. The well equipped kitchen was ideal for preparing meals and the welcome basket a nice touch. There were extras that we hadn't found in other rentals, like tea, coffee, sugar, dishwasher tabs, condiments, kitchen roll etc. The owner seemed to try and cover all the bases, which was greatly appreciated. The only thing that we did find a little confusing was the location of the user manuals for appliances in the cottage, was on the web site. The thought and lay out of the cottage makes it ideal for year round use and we feel more than meets the needs for dogs and their owners. Outside is a haven for wildlife, with the fields, hedgerows and bird boxes and plenty of places for walking around the area. It was our first visit to this part of Northumberland and the location of this property, made it ideal for exploring this beautiful county and over the border into Scotland. We would highly recommend this property and look forward to revisiting ourselves in the not too distant future.

The cottage is located in the heart of North Northumberland and is exceptionally well placed for exploring the wider area. Seven miles in one direction will take you to the edge of the Northumberland National Park, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with over 400 square miles of stunning landscapes, criss-crossed by over 700 miles of walking, biking and riding trails which follow the routes of ancient cattle drovers, taking in Iron Age stone fortifications and traces of Bronze Age hilforts amidst the tranquil and rugged landscape.
Hop into your walking boots and you can join Northumberland Park Rangers for a guided walk from Wooler where you will learn much about the heritage and wildlife of the area, or follow sections of St. Cuthbert’s Way and enjoy some outstanding vistas along the route as it winds its way to the dune-fringed sands on the Holy Island of Lindisfarne. For cycling, you will find everything from gentle low-level meanders to big hill country treks, including long-distance routes such as the Pennine Cycleway or the cycle challenges of the Wooler Wheel Hub.
For families, the Breamish Valley is a popular area with pretty river picnic spots where children can paddle, followed by a walk to the lovely waterfall at Linhope Spout where you may even spot some wild Cheviot goats along the way. Alternatively, a warm welcome awaits you at Ford & Etal Estates (3 miles) which has a super range of family friendly activities with over twenty attractions to explore. Take a ride on Bunty on the very charming 15” gauge steam railway, follow the mouse trail around the Heatherslaw Corn mill or there is fishing, canoeing, cycle hire and a riding centre all nearby. For art lovers, a must-visit is the pre-Raphaelite murals at the Lady Waterford Hall, or explore the ruins of Etal Castle or the local heritage sites of nearby Flodden or Duddo Standing Stones, Northumberland’s equivalent of Stonehenge.
The stunning heritage coastline is just a short half-hour drive away with miles of pristine sandy beaches, jolly pubs serving the freshest fish and chips, and picture postcard coastal villages with charming galleries and gift shops. Experience the exhilarating thrill of kitesurfing at Bamburgh, coasteering at Beadnell or perhaps just the simple pleasures of a picnic and a game of beach cricket on sands which remain almost deserted even in the summer months.
History buffs will be enchanted by the rich heritage of the area, where dramatic castles and grand stately homes punctuate the landscape here, including imposing Bamburgh perched on its rocky outcrop above Bamburgh Beach; Alnwick, star of the Harry Potter films; or Chillingham, said to be the most haunted castle in Britain and home to the only wild cattle in the world.
Fishing is available on the River Till about a ten minute drive and is one of the area's best kept secrets with an impressive sea trout run each spring said to be the best in the country. Trout permits are available for as little as £5 per day and rods, reels and waders can be hired locally.
