Begur enjoys a shoreline of unparalleled beauty. Its cliffs and pines, the crystal waters of its hidden coves and its abrupt coastline, make this area the most characteristic of the Costa Brava. Begur has eight coves and beaches of different characters and natural beauty.
The most beautiful coves and beaches of the Costa Brava such as Aiguablava, Sa Riera, Calella, Tamariu and Pals are just a short drive away. During the summer season a bus service operates between Begur and some of its beaches. There are also regular buses to/from Girona and Barcelona.
Nearby you will find a number of charming medieval villages such as Pals, Peratallada, Torroella de Montgrí and Palau-Sator. Most of the region's best golf courses are readily accessible within a 25 km radius.
The small town of Figueres near the border with France is remarkable as the birthplace of Salvador Dali and is home to the Dali Museum. Whether you are passionate about surreal art or just have a passing interest in Dali, this is worth a visit. Even the kids will appreciate the bizarre but highly accessible work of the Spanish artist.
There is an amazing array of water sports that can be practiced in this region. Large bays with waves and wind for windsurfing and yachting. Miles and miles of coastline with coves, cliffs, long beaches and fully-equipped harbours for enjoying all the pleasure of sailing. Marine reserves where you can immerse yourself in the blue, mirrors of water to glide over, and a wild, rugged coastline to discover.
And some interesting background info:
Located in the heart of Empordà, the unspoiled northern part of the Costa Brava, Begur is a town steeped in history. Beneath the shelter of its medieval castle herdsmen, fishermen, bottle cork manufacturers and emigrants returning from the Americas have contributed to the pages of the town’s history. Being a small town with deep rooted customs, the weekly market (Wednesdays) forms an important part of the town’s commercial life.
Our regional cuisine is justly renowned and the benevolent climate ensures many warm, sunny days from spring through to autumn.

Fernie Knepper purchased this apartment in 2006
This is a lovely property in a central location in Begur. The apartment was well equipped and very comfortable. The pool area was a welcome retreat after a day of walking many of the trails linking picturesque coastal villages. We certainly hope to return soon.
A beautifully furnished apartment, views from the pool have to be seen to be believed and despite being shared with other apartments the pool was never over crowded. The apartment is not cheap but if you are looking for a Begur stay this will comfortably accommodate a family of five and is lovely to return to after a day on the beach!
