Overview

About the property

Townhome, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Light-filled home in Capitol Hill's vibrant and safe Eastern Market neighborhood -- rated one of America's 10 most walkable communities!

New in 2003, our place has everything you need to enjoy your visit to DC. Ideal for a couple or family, with Aerobeds available upon request. We take care of the details so you don't feel nickel-dimed -- and can enjoy a hassle-free stay.

Best of all, our central location means no fighting Washington’s traffic snarls, or paying top dollar for parking -- or parking tickets! Nearby: everything you'd want to see in DC:

The US Capitol, Supreme Court and Library of Congress are a 10-minute stroll away.

Head 4 blocks north, through our neighborhood of historic rowhouses, to get to Metro's Eastern Market station, on the direct route to top destinations -- the Smithsonian, the White House, the Washington Convention Center, the new American Indian museum, the FDR and Jefferson Memorials, Ford's Theatre, the International Spy Museum and more are a 10-minute ride away. Or stay on the subway for a bit longer to get to the National Zoo, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Kennedy Center.

To our east is Barracks Row, home to the President's Own (Marine Corps Band) and the Marine Commandant, and a restaurant row for nightlife. And to our south are the Washington Nationals' new stadium, the Navy Yard, and the new Transportation Department HQ.

On the way back home, stop at Eastern Market's produce, meat, dairy and flower stalls -- or pop into one of Barracks Row's cafes, bars or restaurants. Several grocery/drug/liquor stores are within walking/driving distance.

Cozy little home! Perfect for our family of 4. It was a great walking distance from the metro and the capital. Deborah was extremely attentive to our requests and responded quickly to our texts. Thank you for a wonderful time!! I would recommend highly 😊

Perfect for Our Needs

  • 5 of 5

This apartment was exactly what we wanted for our five-day visit to Washington DC. The king bed was comfortable. We had what we needed in the kitchen, so that we could have breakfast before heading out each morning. We had a 7-minute walk to the Metro; the Metro was easy to navigate and got us everywhere we wanted to go. Deborah is wonderful to work with. The few times we had questions, she responded to our text in three minutes or less. There are several restaurants near the Metro station, as well as the food market and CVS pharmacy. All in all, we enjoyed very much our stay.

Great location, Great owner communication

  • 4 of 5

Our stay @ DC Barracks was wonderful because we were close to major DC sites & great restaurants. Metro & bus were very close & we walked a lot just to admire the row home historic neighborhood. The renovated comeback location was diverse & safe. Deborah, was quick, polite, & professional in all communications. We left a pair of shoes under the bed & Deb is sending them to us. We had 2 minor glitches during our stay. Our designated parking spot was occupied by a small trailer & the dryer did not work. Deborah let us use another parking space just a few yards away. Sears finally fixed dryer on our final day so we were indeed able to do wash. Both problems were handled nicely. I was counting on doing laundry 3 days earlier, so we washed & hung clothes in bedroom to air dry. We did more loads the night before we left. These glitches were a bit annoying but no fault of Deborah's. Stuff happens. The king bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very small but functional. The living room was furnished much like a college dorm---nothing fancy. We spent very little time there so that was not as important as location. The glitches & modest furnishings earn a 4 instead of a 5-star score. That being said, I would certainly consider renting again from Deborah DeYoung.

Outstanding stay

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in two of Deborah's properties while I was in DC and thoroughly enjoyed both. They were clean, convenient, and had everything I needed for my trip. Deborah is extremely helpful and easy to work with. She went out of her way to accommodate some scheduling weirdness on my part that she really would've been within her rights to say no to, and seemed genuinely happy to do it. I'll absolutely stay here again if I return to the DC area.

Clean, Great Location, Great Person to Rent From

  • 5 of 5

7 nights and it was wonderful!! My husband and I have never tried a VRBO before, but this had great reviews. I easily saw why. Deborah provided a fan to keep by the king size bed, in case the traffic noise bothered me (which it didn't, but I used the fan for "white noise"). Deborah was so helpful getting this all set up, and just before we left, she had to leave town unexpectedly. She would be back the day we were to arrive, but she gave me two other names and phone numbers to call in case we needed help. Deborah is a very responsible person, and quickly reply's to your emails. We ended up driving so it was great to have a reserved parking space. And safe - I was nervous about being in DC, but the area was very well kept up and I always felt safe. A quick 7 min walk to the Metro, and coming home, 8th street is filled with restaurants. The kitchen table is much bigger now than the one in the picture, and there are two large "couches" in the living area, so more room to sit. The apartment has a lot of books on DC, and we watched one of the provided DVDs (although the TV worked great). We ate breakfast there each morning and cooked 3 dinners at the apartment, getting food from the Eastern Market, and even cooking steak out on the provided grill. There was bar soap, shampoo, etc., provided. And I am always very impressed when the overhead fan in a bathroom works!! More than not they don't in hotels. There were 2 Metro cards waiting for us, so we didn't have to buy our own cards, saving us $10. I highly recommend this apartment, with no hesitation!!!

On the way back home, stop at Eastern Market's farmers' stalls, relax at Barracks Row's cafes, bars or restaurants, or run errands at several nearby grocery/drug/liquor stores -- all within walking/driving distance.
