About the property

Townhome, 1 Bedroom + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Light-filled home in Capitol Hill's vibrant and safe Eastern Market neighborhood -- rated one of America's 10 most walkable communities!

New in 2003, our place has everything you need to enjoy your visit to DC. Ideal for a couple or family, with Aerobeds available upon request. We take care of the details so you don't feel nickel-dimed -- and can enjoy a hassle-free stay.

Best of all, our central location means no fighting Washington’s traffic snarls, or paying top dollar for parking -- or parking tickets! Nearby: everything you'd want to see in DC:

The US Capitol, Supreme Court and Library of Congress are a 10-minute stroll away.

Head 4 blocks north, through our neighborhood of historic rowhouses, to get to Metro's Eastern Market station, on the direct route to top destinations -- the Smithsonian, the White House, the Washington Convention Center, the new American Indian museum, the FDR and Jefferson Memorials, Ford's Theatre, the International Spy Museum and more are a 10-minute ride away. Or stay on the subway for a bit longer to get to the National Zoo, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Kennedy Center.

To our east is Barracks Row, home to the President's Own (Marine Corps Band) and the Marine Commandant, and a restaurant row for nightlife. And to our south are the Washington Nationals' new stadium, the Navy Yard, and the new Transportation Department HQ.

On the way back home, stop at Eastern Market's produce, meat, dairy and flower stalls -- or pop into one of Barracks Row's cafes, bars or restaurants. Several grocery/drug/liquor stores are within walking/driving distance.

Owners are long-time DC residents and neighbors who are happy to answer questions and share tips for visitors. Follow us @dcquarters for links to info that may be useful for your visit!

This pleasant, roomy ground floor apartment was exactly what we needed. It is well equipped, the bed is very comfortable, all the appliances are in good working order, wifi works well, and the place is very clean. It was plenty big enough for the two of us. The living room-dining area-kitchen is a separate room from a bedroom with king size bed.

The neighborhood has several first rate restaurants, good coffee shops, Metra access. It felt safe day and night, though we always have our antenae keenly tuned when we are in some place new.

We were able to park in one of the owner's spots, off the street. We mostly walked everywhere we wanted to go and used public transportation to get back at the end of the day.

It is obvious that Deborah takes pride in nicely furnishing the apartment and keeping it clean and in excellent repair.

Thank you!

Little House On The Freeway

  • 3 of 5

This is a good location for proximity to the Mall and all the things to see and do there. It was convenient to walk to the grocery store and restaurants. Deborah checked up on us to make sure we made it into the unit and didn't need anything.

This place does get a lot of noise from the nearby freeway, making it less than restful though. We're used to quiet environments, so the impact was significant to us. If you're used to heavy city noise, it likely is not an issue. We did get a significant amount of noise from folks upstairs from us one night as well.

The place could use some general light maintenance (loose doorknobs, etc) and is a bit over furnished making it feel crowded. The furniture is uncomfortable - We never found a comfortable place to sit in the unit, but we didn't spend a significant amount of time in the unit other than sleeping.

Great location! Deborah was very helpful!

  • 5 of 5

Deborah was so great at answering all my questions and sent a lot of information. The property location is close to the Navy Barracks/Capitol Hill neighborhood that has all sorts of great little restaurants within walking distance. It is about 4 long blocks from the Eastern Market Metro Station, where they just opened a Trader Joe's! Also walked down to the newly renovated river front property where there is a great park plus more nice new restaurants and a marina.

Although small, the place was perfect for the two of us. Deborah was very helpful in every way. we did not need a car, the circulator busses and the Metro trains took us everywhere we needed to go, and were just a short walk away from their stops. We even walked to the Capitol and the Mall one day just to see the area. The neighborhood was full of friendly people. Lots of good restaurants on 8th Street. We especially liked "Ted's Bulletin". The new Harris Teeter grocery store on 6th and M streets was convenient and amazing.

Car: not necessary

Capitol Hill -- near Eastern Market. The Navy Yard, US Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress and new Nationals stadium are a short stroll away. Metro's blue/orange line is even closer -- and a direct link to the Smithsonian, the White House, the Washington Convention Center, the new American Indian museum, the FDR and Jefferson Memorials, Ford's Theatre, the International Spy Museum and more.

On the way back home, stop at Eastern Market's farmers' stalls, relax at Barracks Row's cafes, bars or restaurants, or run errands at several nearby grocery/drug/liquor stores -- all within walking/driving distance.

Other Activities: National Mall, Smithsonian museums, driving range
