Farmhouse, 5 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 12-16)

Located just 30 minutes away from beautiful and historic downtown Charleston and 15 minutes from Edisto Beach, you will find Toogoodoo Bluff, a private family compound comprised of a 200 year-old plantation house, log cabin and recreation cottage. For the first time ever, our family is opening the doors of Toogoodoo Bluff and welcoming you.

Our property is nestled on a high bluff overlooking the beautiful Toogoodoo River and wide open marshes. A perfect oasis for families with artists, writers, thinkers and outdoorsmen. About Keith

I am a lifelong Carolinea boy, having grown up in NC and then living in SC since 1981.

Keith purchased this farmhouse in 2005

Why Keith chose South Carolina

Toogoodoo Bluff is so unique and special. It offers an authenic Lowcountry experience and not just another beach week. The structures are all very historic and meticuously renovated. The high bluff overlooking the river and marshes are therapeutic. Toogoodoo Bluff is not a place, it is an experience.

What makes this farmhouse unique

As previously stated, Toogoodoo Bluff is not just another week at the beach even though we are only a short drive to Edisto Beach. It allows for groups to be together without having to be together in a single structure.

Great family fun

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time! The kids loved all the space outside to play, and the grandparents loved all the places to sit and watch them. Keith is super. He had great suggestions for what to do in the area, and the place accommodated everyone from the grandparents to the one-year-old to the dog. We had a little glitch late one night, and Keith was totally accessible and responsive.

Fantastic Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time with family who drove in from Atlanta and Cincinnati. The main house is a perfect meeting place, and the two cabins gave some great separation when everyone wanted to do their own thing!

Easy drive into Charleston and out to the beautiful beaches of Edisto. Keith's recommendations were top-notch, from restaurants to markets and everything in between. He was a gracious and accommodating host, and our family will remember this trip for years to come!

Beautiful spot for a family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a wonderful long weekend here for a family reunion. Adults and children all had a wonderful time canoeing, fishing, and crabbing. We enjoyed our mornings sipping coffee on the beautiful, expansive porch and covered dock and watching the dolphins swim up the river.

The main house and 2 cabins were very comfortable and cozily decorated. We had plenty of room for 16 of us to sleep and enjoy the property. Fun games such as cornhole and table top checkers and tic tac toe.

The beds were very comfortable and the 2 cabins have small kitchens with a coffee maker and utensils. The log cabin's kitchen even had a full size refrigerator.

It was a beautiful, relaxing spot right on the river.

Great place for a family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

We had to find a place for quite a few family members on short notice. Our beloved Uncle John had just died and we were coming in from all over the country for his funeral. Keith was very sensitive and accommodating.

The farmhouse was lovely. Very well appointed and had everything we needed for making comforting meals.

The dock was lovely and overlooked the most beautiful marshland. We even saw an alligator (I have a picture)!

The kayaks and canoe were a wonderful means of entertainment and relaxation.

The only issue we had was there was little cell service and the Wi-Fi is sparse in the separate buildings. If you want to unplug, this is it!

Thanks, Keith.

Amazing historic home and tidal river

  • 5 of 5

My sister, daughter and I were mainly looking for a place to stay that was close to a Charleston baby shower. This listing looked amazing, and we could bring our two dogs. So we booked it in hopes it would be an extra bonus to us in addition to our family event. We could not have been more delighted on driving in to the compound and exploring the amazing historic home. It was like staying in our own historic bed and breakfast but having the whole home to ourselves. We felt it was our home while we cooked and had a lovely dinner on the wonderful deck and floating dock area.

The home was very toasty and warm (in January) and a joy to relax in. The beds were amazingly comfortable and my dogs loved the huge fenced area to wonder around. My daughter loved the swing and my sister and I were filled with joy sitting by the Toogoodoo River watching the changing tides and grasses.

We had hoped our local relatives could join us one evening but the baby came early so they were busy this trip. We are planning to come back again and have them join us with their new baby out at this fantastic place. We showed them the pictures when we visited them before leaving and they were really excited to join us next time. We only rented the main house as we were just three adults but Keith was nice to leave the keys to the other buildings so we could explore them as well. Next trip we will book all buildings and have a few more family members join us. We didn't get a chance to kayak or canoe but plan to on our next trip. Coming from Texas and Georgia we have seen many lovely places but this was a rare treat and worth a trip back to the Charleston area just to stay here again.

Keith was great to work with. He was so helpful and answered back quickly. I'll have to thank him again for sharing this lovely home.

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was. The houses are so comfortable and full of character! We saw dolphins swimming by the dock and we grilled out every night. It was so nice to have a place where our 3 year old and 5 year old could stretch out and play plus my parents dog was able to come along. Don't miss this place!
