125 year old Victorian cottage overlooking working harbor. Smell the salt air and enjoy peeks of lobster boats, sailboats, and the actions of a working harbor.
Cottage overlooks magnificent gardens. These gardens have been photographed for post cards of Maine. Walk to lobster pound, the village with boutique stores and gourmet restaurants, library, the Oceanarium (Kids love) or for a hike in Acadia National Park
Located in prestigeous neighborhood on Clark Point Road
No need for a car as you can walk to every thing, or take the free Acadia bus to visit Bar Harbor, and surrounding towns and areas
My husband, Gary and our two children have been coming to our cottages in Maine for 22 years. We live in Naples, Fl most of the year and can only spend a month in Southwest Harbor at this time. We are well traveled, but after finding Acadia National Park and the Quietside Village of Southwest Harbor, we have been content. It is truly a magical place. It is our pleasure to share our home with other visitors who have found the same beauty.

We loved everything about this house. The location was superb as we could walk or bike everywhere. And when the kids were older they could stop the LLBean bus in front of the house and be independent. We loved the Victorian style and the peek of the harbor across the street. Best view is from the bathroom window and the front porch. After a hectic day battling the crowds in Bar Harbor and the main trails, it was so welcoming to come home.
Walk to EVERYTHING!!! market, library, town dock, to the ferry, to a lobster pound, to some of the finest restaurants in Maine, playground, ocean swimming, to Acadia's Flying Mountain and Valley cove, specialty wine and cheese store, drugstore, clothes shopping, bike shop.
We arrived to a pristine clean house, with windows open, fresh breezes flowing through the lace curtains, as if the hosts had just prepared it for us and snuck away. Lovely, charming home with all the comforts we needed. We stayed 6 nights and were sad to leave. The location was perfect: Southwest Harbor is a lovely town with great restaurants, local bakery, ice cream shop, green market, antique store, terrific waterfront views. We participated in the town Library 5 mile walk and met some locals and saw the town. We watched the meteor shower from the Causeway, biked to the Beech Mountain trails, took the free bus, along with our two children, dog and four bikes. We met a local lobster fisherman on the bus who happily offered us hiking tips. Acadia is stunningly beautiful, and there is so much to do. We went whale watching and saw two whales, a real thrill for all of us. My son loved scrambling along the rocks at Thunder Hole and my daughter loved joining the local library for the week and riding her bike into town and getting a croissant for breakfast. Lunch at Jordan Pond was delightful especially since our dog could join us. There is something for everyone. Some of my favorite moments were spent sitting on the front porch after a day of hiking and sipping wine before dinner. Beal's lobster was delicious, Cafe 21 is not to be missed. Ice cream at Quietside cafe is my daughter's favorite and we sampled ice cream all over Mt. Dessert Island! Two houses away a local neighbor makes her own bread, and jams, jellies, so we enjoyed the cinnamon bread with blueberry jam. And brought some home! Thank you to our gracious hosts for making us feel so at home, pampered and welcome.
My family and I had a wonderful time experiencing Maine and Acadia NP for the first time this summer and a large part of making the trip great was this wonderful home where we stayed in Southwest Harbor. The home is beautiful with a great front porch (where I recommend sipping coffee in the morning sunlight), and we immediately felt at home here. Even better, you can walk less than 5 minutes to a pier overlooking the harbor and 5 minutes in the other direction to food and a few small shops. The owners were very helpful and even left maps, guides, and suggestions on their favorite things to do which helped up immensely. Bar Harbor is a great place, but Southwest Harbor is quiet, relaxing and close to all the attractions without all the commotion. Lots of people visit Acadia, and by the end of the day a little peace and quiet is just what this house provides.
