Overview

About the property

Apartment to sleep 4, with a king bed and a zip and link.

Dappled light from the River Avon fills this delightful contemporary river-front house for 4 in central Bath. An enchanting and artistic city retreat with secure garage parking for one car, two tranquil double bedrooms, a glorious waterfront deck and a short gravel footpath to the jetty to launch your craft, bring a joyful ‘Wind in the Willows’ adventure to the centre of historic Bath.

This stylish modern property has underfloor heating throughout, light spacious rooms decorated with warmth, flair and lovely artworks, a luminous riverside setting and an easy 5 minute walk to the city centre.

The comfortable west facing living room has a large sofa to seat 2 and two deep armchairs, beside a coal effect gas fire. Book shelves have plenty of reading material and if you are feeling adventurous, a sideboard contains OS maps of Bath and Devon, as well as local walks in the surrounding countryside. There is a TV, DVD, WI-FI, a Linn music system and a selection of films, music and games.

Sliding doors open to a large deck capturing the afternoon sun and an outdoor table and four chairs are great for drinks or dining alfresco by the river. Sycamores and willows line the banks, old riverside wharfs and designer homes are glimpsed on the opposite side and swans, ducks and local watercraft meander along the water. A small jetty is perfect for a fish (you will need a fishing license and local permits) or perhaps to launch your kayak and explore upstream, you could paddle to The Bathampton Mill for lunch, (Tel. 01225 469758 Book ahead as it is very popular) or catch the local ferries that run from March to October. Alternatively, boats can be hired from The Boatman in Bathwick. (Tel. 01225 482584).

The morning sun adds sparkle to the contemporary fitted kitchen. Black granite tops and tempered glass cupboard fronts house a 5 ring gas hob, an electric oven, a steam oven, a microwave, a large fridge and separate freezer, a small dishwasher, concealed waste bin and also a combined washing machine and dryer. An extending dining table by the window seats up to 8. The lobby leads to a generous cloakroom with hand-basin and WC and under-stairs storage for utility items.

Upstairs are two spacious and tranquil bedrooms. A restful master bedroom in soft colours over-looks the river and has a 5’ double bed and a large built-in wardrobe with plenty of shelving and hanging space, an easy chair and speakers for a quality music experience. Full height French doors lead onto a small balcony with lovely river views and chairs if you wish to sit with your morning tea.

The smart second double room has two single 3’ beds that can zip and link to become a 6’ double, along with a gentleman’s wardrobe and chest of drawers. Huge picture windows take in a quiet street scene of an ornate Victorian school house, pretty gardens, Bath stone houses and the hills of Bathampton in the distance.

Between the two rooms is a large contemporary stone-tiled family bathroom, with a large bath (with shower over), hand-basin with storage under and WC.

The property has a secure private underground parking space for 1 car. Alternatively the Bath Spa train and bus stations are a 10-15 minute level walk away.

St. John's Riverside Mews

  • 5 of 5

Last week we stayed in the lovely Bath area. We had booked the St. John's Riverside Mews apartment that was located nearby the city center.

The apartment exceeded our expectations. The apartment was clean, bright, a very well equipped kitchen is also included, on 5-10 minutes walking distance from the city center. Also the wooden deck in the back of the apartment is great. We parked our car in the garage below the apartment. The supermarket is just "around the corner".

You can spent several days in Bath. since there is a lot to see and do (all in walking distance).

From Bath we visited Cheddar ("mountains"), Dyrham House, Bristol (steam ship "Great Britain"), the Avon Valley Steamtrain, and even Highclere Castle.

Thanks,

G. Raymakers

Beautiful apartment in a great location!

  • 5 of 5

We were very pleased with the apartment. It had a great layout and was very comfortable. It was very bright and sunny and in excellent condition. It is in a great location and is only a short walk in to town. The people at Bath Holiday Rentals were very professional and helpful. They even stocked some goodies for us before our arrival! We would give them our highest recommendation. We can't wait to return to Bath!
