Nador ut 8 sleeps 2 apartment
Ground Floor apartment located in Nador Street, in the prestigious, central area of District 5. After passing through the shabby chic charm of a typical 19th century Hungarian courtyard which has yet to be fully restored, you reach our cosy apartment which has been newly renovated in a sympathetic fashion; keeping some special features such as the vaulted brick ceiling, whilst furnishing and equipping it to an excellent modern standard. The accommodation is spread over two floors, with the kitchen, eating and living area downstairs, and the spacious bedroom upstairs. There are several dozens of restaurants close by, from inexpensive all the way to first class international cuisine. In fact you are only two minutes away from some of the best and most popular restaurants in Budapest including the Michelin star rated Borkonyha (Wine Kitchen). All forms of public transport -metro, tram and bus are also in the immediate area. The Danube and the beautiful Chain Bridge are a 1 minute walk, and you can visit all the top Budapest attractions on foot. Our English speaking taxi driver can meet you at the airport or train station and take you to the apartment. Myself (Bridgett Gill) and my partner (Brendan Wheatley) are in our early sixties and involved in the world of opera. We run Swansea City Opera, a mid scale opera company which tours all over the UK, and a registered charity. The history, culture and love of music of the Hungarian people were a great influencing factor in our decision to buy a classical apartment in Budapest. We were looking for an investment for our retirement and had planned to visit three countries before making our choice, but after seeing the beauty of Budapest and finding the Hungarian people so friendly and welcoming, we decided to look no further. We hope you love the city us much as we do!

Bridgett Gill purchased this apartment in 2007
Why we chose this location: Because we live in a very old cottage in Wales and love historic houses, we were looking for a building and apartment that had history and original features. We think we have found the perfect apartment and have completely renovated and restored it with a lot of love and thought. As well as being in a beautiful building, the apartment is close to all forms of public transport, and central to all the tourist attractions and the Opera House. In addition, because we love good food and wine, we chose a location with good restaurants close by! By the way I can heartily recommend Hungarian wine, not a lot of it is sold abroad as they keep most of it for themselves!
We took our time over renovating our apartment because we wanted to preserve the old Hungarian character whilst having all the advantages of modern living. The apartment was a former stables and we have preserved the vaulted brick ceiling which is a unique feature. Being on the ground floor the apartment could have been cold in the winter, so we have added underfloor hearing and have put 3 inch insulation on the walls, making it really cosy when it is chilly outside.
Hallo Frau Gill,
Bridgett's apartment worked perfectly for our four-day stay in Budapest. It is clean and comfortable, and in a terrific location for sightseeing. Almost all major attractions (Basilica, Danube, Opera, etc.) are a short walk away, and we found it most convenient. Her arrangement of transportation was most helpful, too, and we'd highly recommend this site for vacations or any other short stays.
The place was nice but if you have a problem with stairs I would not recommend staying here, the stairs to the bedroom were very narrow and steep.
Wish the owner would have mentioned to bring soap and shampoo.
We couldn't figure out how to turn down the heat.
Wish the apartment had a washer/dryer, or laundry close by.
The location was wonderful for seeing the sites.
Budapest is marvelous. The apartment is clean and very well located. The bedroom is particularly nice, though the staircase would be quite a challenge to the obese or disabled.
Bridgett is very helpful as is Attila.
This place was fantastic! It was very clean and cozy. It was in a perfect location, as it was within walking distance to everything we wanted to see and explore throughout the city. Bridgett was very helpful, kind, and prompt through our online correspondence during the booking process. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone I knew visiting Budapest!
This was a fantastic place to stay! It was close to everything! Very easy and pleasant communication with the owner, Brigitte! If I come back to Budapest, this is where I will stay! Perfect little apartment for 2! Safe, impeccably clean and everything you need! Even heated floors!
The apartment could not be better located, walking distance or a short ride to all major attractions in Budapest. Nearby were grocery shops, restaurants cafés, everything you'd need. Brigett was very helpful and prompt in responding to our many questions. Attila was there to greet us at the train station and pointed out all the features of the apartment and was very informative about what to see and do. The apartment itself is clean, cosy and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. I would recommend this to others, but if you have any physical or visual challenges, the steep and narrow staircase to the loft bedroom would be very difficult to navigate. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Budapest and hope to come back to Budapest and Bridgett's apartment. We will recommend this apartment to others.
The apartment is in the perfect location, near the Basilica in the prestigious District 5. All the top tourist attractions are within an easy 10 min walking distance, including the Opera House, Parliament, National Art Museum, Castle District and the funicular railway, the Famous Chain Bridge and the Vaci Utca shopping street. It is also close to a supermarket and a covered market where you can by excellent fresh produce. It is also, very importantly, only 2 mins walk from some very good bars and restaurants; the Hungarians have some really excellent wine and food! The nearest metro station is 5 mins walk away, and bus and tram stops are 2 mins away. The apartment is also close to the street which houses all the prime antique shops specialising in Biedermeier and Art Deco furniture. Budapest is regaining its former glory, there is street after street of fabulous architecture, many buildings are fully renovated and many still have their rather shabby-chique charm.
