Modern villa in quiet location
Beautifully maintained villa in a quiet location, a short walk to the pebble beach where there are tavernas. The beach is quiet as sandy beaches nearby are more popular and beach not suitable for small children. Terrace faces due west, so sunsets are fantastic, only downside to this is that there is little shade on the terrace after mid afternoon.
Beautiful villa in a great location
The villa has everything you need for a really comfortable stay. It is clean and modern with two lovely en-suite bathrooms, well equipped kitchen and comfortable living room. The pool is great, with a wonderful view of the bay below with amazing sunsets.
The drive from Chania airport is straightforward and Kissamos, the nearest town with large supermarkets, shops, cafes and restaurants/bars is about 20 minutes away.
The villa is in the lovely quiet village of Sfinari - all you can hear are the waves and the local sheep. It’s a ten minute walk down the hill to the small beach with 3 tavernas and free sun beds and a five minute walk up to the village centre with 3 more tavernas and a couple of shops. We had lovely meals and such friendly service at Antonio’s on the village road and also from Yiannis and his family at the Thalami taverna on the beach that we didn’t really eat anywhere else, although all of the restaurants have had good reviews from other guests. We loved the shingle beach which was never crowded and, although we drove to the famous and beautiful Elafonissi beach one day, it was too busy and commercialised for us and were happy at Sfinari.
Above all, Vassilis our host was great. We arrived late evening to an absolutely delicious home-cooked meal of stuffed peppers to pop in the oven to reheat and salad, cheese, bread, wine - a lovely warm welcome. There were also little things such as dishwasher tablets, salt, pepper, herbs, olive oil etc which mean you don’t have to go out shopping when you’re only staying for a week. Vassilis helped us to find our bearings and had great advice about places to visit. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
Thank you Mandy for your kind words, hope to see you back one day.
If you are looking for perfect harmony in a fresh, modern villa with a stunning view this is it! The village is tiny and genuine. No hotels, no tourists, jsut peace and calm. If you want to it is easy to take the car to Falassarna beach for example. It is great to have a few tavernas down by the beach. Took us 7 minutes to walk there and we enjoyed all of our lunches there.
This is our second visit here (last in 2016) and we appreciate that the villa is modern, extremely clean and well cared for. Great hospitality with lots in thefridge when we arrived. Tip is to do food shopping in Chania where you have much more to choose from, stock up there. Especially for wine like Prosecco. Then you can shop in Platanos close by.
Only suggestion is to change the outside chairs since they far far too low compared to the table. :-)
Thank you Vassilis for another lovely week!!!

Thank you for your kind words, it was nice to have you again this summer at the villa.
Fabulous villa in a special part of Crete
Absolutely loved our stay in villa Sfinari - modern & clean with breathtaking views from the pool to the sea. Vasilis was an amazing host and we can’t wait to return.
Beautiful villa with stunning views over the sea from the swimming pool. Vasilis was a perfect host and the welcome meal & food items were greatly appreciated. Our third visit to this villa and we look forward to returning!
Thank you for staying for one more time in one of our Sfinari villas. It was a great pleasure to host you again.
Fab holiday -stunning location and beautiful villa
Our family of 4, including our grown daughters enjoyed the lovely villa Sfinari in early Sept. Gorgeous weather, stunning beaches and views from the villa, and the warmth of the local people captivated us. We really enjoyed walking down the lane, through the olive groves to find the 3 casual fresh fish restaurants tucked by the water's edge. We watched the sun set while enjoying some wonderful fish, surfers catching the dying light. Magic. We slept each night to the sound of the surf below. The villa was very comfortably laid out, we enjoyed the jacuzzi baths, the pool and the views. Vassilis was very helpful and responsive to our needs. A wonderful holiday - we'll be back!
Sfinari village, in Kissamos, is situated 57 klm south-west from the center of Chania.
The Sfinari's settlement embraces the homonym cove. The village is built on the feet of Koytroyli's mountain and is extended to the beach.
Quiet is one of the basic advantages of this untouched place. Ideal for family vacations, far away from the noise and the crowd.
The local population, with 150 permanent residents, deals with the olive growing, the livestock-farming, the fishing, the agriculture and during summer, with tourism. That's why all the traditional food is made with the best local products and tastes so good.
In the village you will find:
2 mini markets
2 taverns and 3 taverns with fish
