Marley's is a modern 3 bed, 2 bath beach house with all modern amenities, a lovely cook and cleaner, and steps from your front yard onto the white sand of Mihipenna Beach. A lovely tropical or Sri Lankan breakfast is included in your rental, with options for other meals also to be included. Great restaurants and bars are within walking distance, Historic Galle 10 min, and surfing within 5 mins.
The house includes a King bed in the front room with internal contemporary bathroom, a Queen bed with a lovely indian slate outdoor bathroom, and a third room with two single beds which an also be utilised as couches. All three rooms shut off and have their own fans and air conditioning units.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a gas six burner stove and oven, dishwasher, fridge and water cooler. The wrap around timber deck is the favourite place to spend sleepy afternoons reading, or swinging in the hammock.
Great local bars and cafes are within walking distance or short tuc tuc, with pizzas deliverable. Our in-house cook is also free to make curries, stir fries or pastas on request.
I work as a Social Impact Consultant and my little boy is in year one. We have travelled for most of his former years including spending 6 months of the year in SL. We find it an adventure always, but love it..
Michelle purchased this house in 2006
Sri Lankan Airlines took some of its original photos from our block of land, so you can imagine the incredible sunsets..
All linen, a six burner stove, water cooler, fans, air conditioning are included in the house. You should feel as if you are in a modern Western house, but with the fantastic Sri Lankan weather, a great curry and staff to ensure your holiday is all the more relaxed.
We loved this house! We took a last minute trip to Sri Lanka in May and the owner could not have been more accommodating. We loved the house - simple but lovely design, beautiful beach and friendly staff. The noise was not an issue at all, and contrary to the previous review - it is less than a 5 minute walk to the beach lagoon. I might add that the beach lagoon is in front of a great beach bar and restaurant, so you can grab a beer and idle your afternoon away on the beach or in the lagoon, then wander up for wood fired pizza, or curry.. Thanks to the staff for their efforts in making our holiday memorable.
Marley's is such a special place. The veranda is where I want to be everyday, listening to the ocean, watching the waves and reconnecting with the world! You couldn't get a better location and the gardens and house were immaculate. Facilities spot on, really comfortable beds (a must), great kitchen and living areas and 2 bathrooms (one outdoor - fab!!! and one indoor). Decor, ambience and staff couldn't have been more welcoming and made my first trip to Sri Lanka unforgettable. The local area is buzzing with great bars and restaurants. Short hope along the beach and you can be drinking cocktails whilst watching the sunset! Also an ideal base to tour from. I loved Columbo and Galle town as well as the exploring we did in Udawalawe. Sri Lanka is a place like no other, and Marley's is the same. It steals a place in your heart and leaves you wanting more. Thanks for having me x
You not dreaming, the photos are truthful! once pushed the door of Marley's beach house and the road noise behind you, you are immersed in a postcard landscape: the house is perfect, easy-going, and the ocean is available to you every day, the beach is beautiful, too bad we were not able to swim in front because the currents are too strong in this season, but there are quieter areas. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful, always listening and ready to make our stay more enjoyable: Thanks to Neeta, Shehan and Rohan, and thank you to our guests!
Amazing beachfront location, you will not be diappointed! House was clean and we'll maintained and House Manager was readily available if required. We had a truly relaxing break and would highly recommend. We especially enjoyed the local seafood, surfing and trip to elephant park. Marley's really is a true gem of a find!!
Stunning location, wonderful house with friendly attentive service. We arrived to The house on a busy road - but when we walked through the gate we were greeted with the smiling faces of the staff, a manicured green lawn leading to the ocean. Closing the gate behind us the noise of the road transformed to the sound of the ocean, the eye was lead to the edge of the garden, the beach and the water. The house is well designed, light, airy and very functional kitchen. It was comfortable for us two if not a bit too big. Funky features like an open shower bathroom and the hammocks out front of the bedroom were a cool touch. During our week there we were looked after so well by Neeta and Shehan - great food (mostly breakfasts and a couple of evening meals) transport and local information meant we could see the best of the area in a short time, it wasn't long enough...! I would thoroughly recommend this hidden gem for a getaway or a retreat.
We stayed at Marleys with my three children earlier in April and just loved it. We were after a mix of adventure and chilling out, and this location gave us both. A lot of time spent on the deck with a book but great exploring to do as well especially the surf beaches which my husband loved. The kids tended to swim and play on the beach all morning, and then we all chilled with board games or a movie in the afternoon. The staff made my life v easy - lunch, a cup of tea, or drinks on request, and lots of good advice re eating out, travelling or which fish to cook (not that I touched a single pan in the 2 weeks we were there..). Thanks for a great family holiday. We will be back.
The house is in the most spectacular location with a view up the beach looking at palm trees, green turtles feeding and in the afternoon - gorgeous sunset. I'm sure there are bigger houses for groups of families, but for a single family with kids it is just perfect. Very much felt like our own private little spot.
Thanks to the staff for making it such a perfect holiday.
The local area is incredibly beautiful - white sandy beaches, and clean clear ocean seas with an abundance of seafood. Local fishermen can bee seen catching daily off the beach, and you only have to drive 60 sec and you are immersed in lush green jungles, tea plantations or rice paddies. A number of important museums, temples and historic sites are within 30 minutes drive, or ayurverdic treatment centres or home practitioners. A local dive school is five minutes drive towards Galle who can also organise whale & dolphin watching, fishing and snorkelling tours.
Galle Fort which is less than ten minutes drive is a Unesco World Heritage listing, with fabulous old buildings, cobble streets, shops, restaurants and spas.
