The Humpback Whale Sanctuary is our front yard and you have prime seating to watch the whales from the lanai or any room in the condo. Our unit has been remodeled recently and features bamboo flooring in the living room and dining room areas, 42' Flat Screen LCD TV, and beautifully appointed furnishings. Lovely setting, beautiful condo, luxurious details

Easy access to beach and snorkeling. Luxurious bed and bath, updated kitchen and many comfortable touches. Sophie's basket of coffee and treats was so welcoming. We had arrived late at night and were able to breakfast in the morning on the lanai with kona coffiee and lilikoi pancakes and whales offshore. Great start to a relaxing week. We snorkeled several times and were able to walk in from the beach, avoid driving, parking and crowed beaches, heaven!

Beautiful condo! Will return.

My husband and I recently stayed at Sophie's beautifully remodeled home at Mahana. Everything was perfect; the bed was comfortable and the amenities were wonderful. Sophie had nice quality towels, remodeled kitchen and bathroom, flooring, nice balcony overlooking the ocean. My husband and I noted how much we felt we were on a cruise ship. Sophie left us a gift basket with yummy things and a bottle of nice red wine. We loved that her kitchen as so organized and well stocked. We couldn't have wanted anything else. We needed this vacation and her Unit 216 was perfect. Thank you Sophie; we will return.

Attention to every detail! Perfect location.

We have stayed at many different VRBO condos in multiple states and have never had a owner with more attention to every detail to make us feel welcome. Sophie was more than accommodating on our check out time. We even came in late on our day of arrival not many places were open for food after a long flight but we came into the condo to find a basket of local goodies put together for us. The condo has everything you need, it is a clean quiet paradise. Beautiful floor to ceiling windows and a large patio to watch the palms sway and waves roll in. A perfect place to watch the sunset from the lanai. One last piece of gratitude to share is that this is the first time I have EVER received a hand written card with my deposit check enclosed. Just goes to show the owners really do care about your full experience even after you have made it back home! It was wonderful to get a little token of Hawaii with the personal card since we were still wishing we were listening to the waves, watching the perfect Maui sunset. We certainly cannot wait to come back to this condo in the future.

WOW! Whales, Dolphins, Turtles,

We come to the islands every year and have stayed at several different resorts and I have to say this a great condo and location. Being oceanfront is what Hawaii is all about. Having breakfast on the lanai, watching dolphins and whales (whale season) in the morning, enjoying the turtles in the surf in the evening...well it just doesn't get better than this. The condo has everything you need...if it's not here you probably don't need it. Sophie is so accommodating, and she wants to make sure your stay in her lovely home is perfect. She makes the booking process so easy and she provides you with more than enough information to ensure your vacation will be everything you hope it will be. The view form here is just amazing, enjoying sunsets, and listing to the surf at night is the perfect way to end the day. I agree with the many glowing reviews that are listed so I won't duplicate many of the amenities listed, but if you are looking for a place to stay...I recommend this condo. Mahalo Sophie, your kindness and thoughtfulness is truly appreciated!

I have had the pleasure of staying at multiple Hawaiian beach front condos, but this one by far was the best of the best. From it's beachfront location with the perfect view of the whales (came during whale season) to the wonderful decor and cleanliness of the condo, I couldn't have asked for better. The condo is located in a prime location to get to everything you desire on the island, but private enough that you are able to relax.

I needed a last minute booking and Sophie was generous enough to open up her vacation rental to me with no hesitation. She made the booking process so simple and provided more than enough helpful information for my trip. Sophie went above and beyond to ensure I had the best vacation one could ask for.

With a great condo like this one and Sophie's kindness I wish I could go back there week after week!

A fantastic unit!

This was our 2nd time staying in one Sophie's units at the Mahana (last year we stayed in her studio suite #803), and it was another fantastic experience. This unit is very comfortably furnished and extremely well equipped with everything you could need including beach chairs, boogie boards, binoculars for watching the whales, dolphins and turtles from the lanai, and fully equipped kitchen with barbecue utensils and condiments.

The most amazing feature of this unit, and all of the units at the Mahana, is the view. The pictures give a glimpse of what you're in for, but do not nearly do it justice. The Mahana is very close to the beach giving a truly ocean front view with unobstructed views of the neighbouring Islands of Molokai and Lanai. It is the perfect way to end each day sitting on the lanai watching the sun set over Lanai in the distance.

Sophie is an excellent host who wants you to experience all that Maui has offer. This is evident from the package of magazines, maps and brochures that she sent prior to our trip, and her impressive "Aloha" book that is in the unit that includes tips on places to shop, eat and things do. The book also includes menus for a lot of restaurants and brochures for every activity imaginable.

We love the location of the Mahana and the proximity to a number of great beaches and (a 5 minute walk) to the Times Market Grocery store. The Mahana is also very close to Duke's Beach House which is a great place for beach-side happy hour, and a short drive to the Maui Brewing Company, one of our favourite places to go for lunch. They have a great menu and selection of local craft beer.

Our experience in this unit was fantastic, and our experience booking with Sophie was a pleasure. Sophie really does make the experience memorable, and is the reason we are repeat renters from her. We look forward to staying in one Sophie's units again!

Kahului Airport (OGG): Approximate driving time is 45 minutes and distance is 31 miles.

Driving directions from Kahului Airport: Exit the airport on Keolani Pl and proceed one mile. Stay in the middle lane and continue onto Dairy Rd / Hwy 380, which becomes Kuihelani Hwy / Hwy 380 at the intersection with Puunene Ave. Continue straight on Hwy 380 for five miles until it ends. Turn left onto Honoapiilani Hwy / Hwy 30 and proceed 22 miles. After passing Lahaina and Kaanapali, turn left onto Lower Honoapiilani Hwy and proceed one-quarter mile. Turn left onto Kaanapali Shores Pl and proceed one-third of a mile to hotel.

Tip: Hwy 30 turns into a two lane highway, (gorgeous drive), once you reach Lahaina the road widens again into a four lane highway, about 5 miles after it widens, you will need to turn left on L’Honoapiliiani, there is a light at this intersection. You will need to turn left into the first driveway, (lined with palm trees!) There is no street sign for Kaanapali Shores Place but you will see “Aloha” greenery for Kaanapali Shores Condominium property just beyond our entry, continue down the road bearing left, past Sunterra (Kaanapali Beach Resort) and Maui Kai Condo, and to the end of the road is the Mahana.
