Welcome to Marblava, our comfy holiday apartment, close to the sea and sports in Sant Feliu de Guixols, costa Brava.

Imagine being in a modern, spacious apartment with garage storage for all your stuff and within a kilometre of the beach, port and water sports...

Have a week or two packed with active enjoyment such as cycling, climbing, trekking, horse riding, golf, you name it!

The local shops, bars and restaurants are right there on your doorstep and are not as touristic as on the seafront. Experience real Catalan living!

You can walk to the market for the freshest fruit, vegetables, meat and, of course, fish. That's when you are not going for an early morning kayak, dive or swim...

Sant Feliu de Guixols is one of the nicest and best small towns on the Costa Brava. It is not a holiday resort, but a living Catalan town with the culture, the Catalan lifestyle, the shops and restaurants so admired by well-healed visitors from Barcelona. But, of course, the beach is beautiful, the bay stunning and the facilities for visitors second to none.

Marblava is a spacious apartment in a residential block of two apartments within walking distance (15 minutes, or five by bus/car) of Sant Feliu de Guixols, the Marina, the beach and the whole of Sant Feliu. But because it is not in the centre of town, it provides a wonderful haven at the end of a busy day.

It is on the first floor of the two storey block with access by stairs. The extremely large garage is (of course!) on the ground floor, directly beneath the apartment, and can be used to keep sports gear/bikes/baby buggies etc as well as a reasonably sized car.

It is not in a 'holiday block' and therefore we are looking for guests who want a great, convivial time, but not a riotous one! By the same token, this means that, although very central, you are unlikely to be disturbed by many marauding holidaymakers despite being so close to the action.

Marblava boasts a excellent living area (17 square metres) with a dining table (extendable) that can accommodate six, a three seater and a two seater sofa and an enormous French window onto the balcony. In addition, we have the sun trap that is the terrace at the rear of the apartment - private, quiet and quite spacious. On the terrace there is a table and chairs, plus room for sun loungers. Finally there is also an electric 'plancha' or barbecue grill wich is ideal for use on the terrace without running the risk of upsetting the neighbours!

It has three spacious bedrooms, two with double beds (one king and one queen) and the other which has twin beds. All bedrooms have good-sized built-in wardrobes with shelving.

There is also a family bathroom with bath and shower.

The kitchen is very well equipped.

The heating is quiet and efficient so Marblava is ready for your visit at any time of year. The wifi is high speed and unlimited. The only thing we deliberately do not have is a TV because we are encouraging you to talk to each other and have fun together!

Sant Feliu is teeming with things to do and places to see. If you like diving, sailing, water skiing, windsurfing, hiking or biking, Sant Feliu is ideal.

If you want to explore Catalunya, what a base and if you are here for a rest then that's fine too!

About Peter and Lucy Noble

We are a semi retired couple who live in the mountains of Catalunya and have a couple of holiday properties on the coast to use as a base for exploration and new experiences.

We finished our business lives in Summer 2012 and are looking to travel, live and learn.

We love Catalunya, its people, its history and its life and would recommend it to anyone and everyone.

We live in London, escaping to Catalunya, Burgundy and Iceland(!) whenever we can. The picture of us is in Iceland and NOT the Costa Brava!!

It's just great if you want to be out all day enjoying the water and the multitude of sports that are so readily available in the area. Or if you are a family who like to be comfortable but would rather spend their budget on more treats and adventures rather than a sea view.

We like our comfort and so have not stinted on it in Marblava.

It is in the thick of it but relatively quiet. You have a choice of two excellent beaches, one literally 15 minutes away on foot.

You can easily walk to anywhere you are likely to want to go in Sant Feliu but also have an excellent base from which to explore.

There is secure garage parking, but you don't need a car if you don't want one.

We aim to treat guests as we would friends who visit us. We want guests to have the best time, and maybe also to bear in mind that this is our home.

This is a comfortable home away from home with all of the amenities you could want close by.

Marblava is just very handy for everything. What we like best about it is that it's so easy.

There is enough space to settle, you can walk to the restaurants and weave slowly back without having to worry about driving.

You are right in the middle of natural phenomena - the glorious Mediterranean, stunning coves and beach walks and, of course, the beautiful cork forests.

We like to think that we treat our guests with a bit more thought and personal interest than most landlords. For example, we don't pack people in, squeezing ten into an apartment intended for six... We don't have a conveyor belt of Saturday to Saturday bookings which results in every single guest HAVING TO arrive late and leave early...we try to let you know what's on when you are visiting so you don't miss gems etc etc

Nice and quiet place to stay

Peter, the owner organized the whole process well and sent a lot of information, he answered quickly for every additional question. Well maintained apartment, equipped with the holidaymaker in mind (I was very pleased with the selection of the traveling books).

We chose this apartment as a base to discover Catalonia: part of GR-92, Tossa de Mar, Girona, Besalu, Figueres etc. This property is located in a quiet, residential neighbourhood so it was perfect for us to rest after the long and active days. All of the family loved to stay here and the layout of this apartment is great (well-separated bedrooms, good-sized bathroom, living room at the centre of the flat, my favourite was the terrace, the children liked the balcony). The apartment was very clean and comfortable.

What a great place to stay! Six of us spent a week here loved the apartment and the area

The apartment is very clean , modern interior and well equipped. All good sized bedrooms and living spaces at the front and terrace to the rear. Lots to do in the area we visited S'Argo and Platja D'Aro as well as spending time in Sant Feliu and all were nice in different ways. Beaches are all great, beautiful scenery and some really interesting buildings especially in central Sant Feliu.

A big thumbs up to Peter and Lucy for all their help and information before and during our stay.

Hoping we can make it back here again 😎

Clean, modern and comfortable apartment

A great apartment in the back streets of Sant Feliu, 15 minutes walk to the seafront. The beds are comfortable and the apartment is well equipped. It suited our family of 5 very well.

Was fun being located in a residential area, watching the world go by from the front balcony which gets the morning sun. Bakery 1 minute away was a big plus and a reasonable supermarket only 5 mins walk. Sant Feliu is a lovely town and full of shops and bars. A great place to be located if you want an authentic Spanish holiday.

We arrived during fiesta season and saw human fireworks and the most amazing firework display on the beach. Peter and Lucy are amazing hosts and could not have been more helpful with their advice and information before and during our holiday. They told us about all the local festivities which really made the holiday as we felt like we were sampling local life. They even arranged for a cake to be collected on our son's 16th birthday!

This is a beautiful part of the Costa Brava and a plus having the coastal path on the doorstep. Really recommend walking round to Sant Pol and dropping down to the coves for rock jumping and snorkelling. Sant Pol is a lovely beach with gorgeous sea and lots of beach activities. Also loved Castell beyond Palamos and Bella Donna beyond Playa d'Aro, accessed from steps on the main road. Pals is a great beach to avoid crowds at the weekends as it's so long. But if you're willing to explore the coastal path, you can easily avoid the crowds in August! The water park at Aqua Diver was great fun but expensive so book in advance if you can get a discount code!

If you're willing to be a short walk from the sea this is a great value apartment. The garage is also a plus for parking and keeping a hire car safe! Sant Feliu is easy to access from Barcelona and is in a brilliant spot for exploring this part of the coast. Our teenagers loved it and we will be back! Thank you Peter and Lucy x

Home from home in SFG

Stayed in this apt for 4 nights in July.

The property is very comfortable and was in a spotless condition, with extremely modern fixtures and fittings. It is effectively a home with it's own garage (handy for parking in this area) and outside sitting areas rather than a holiday apt as such. It is situated in a residential area which is 10+ min walk (uphill on the way back) from the seafront and main area of town, which was a bit further than we would have liked ideally. We enjoyed sitting on the small balcony above the street in the evening and watching the local life, we found that the courtyard was a little enclosed for our liking. Also, the lack of air-conditioning could be an issue in high summer, but wasn't needed for us.

Peter and Lucy were superb hosts and everything was very organised with lots of advice and help provided.

Sant Feliu de Guixols (SFG) is a lovely spot to be based (esp with a car) and has more character than many of the other resorts in the area We especially enjoyed Sant Pol beach for swimming/eating and the beautiful walk towards Playa D'Arro.

Highly recommended.

Yes, the really typical residential areas of Sant Feliu are somewhat removed from the beach and main streets, but we have found the 10 minute walk to be quite pleasant and there is a regular bus service which takes five minutes, if you don't want to walk or use the car. We agree that the character of the terrace is a matter of taste. It is an enclosed sun trap which is not ideal for people-watching, but great for privacy, whilst on the balcony you can watch the world go by, but they can see you too! We are trying to keep Marblava for guests on a budget and so a/c is not on the cards at the moment and the families staying in July and August last year seemed OK with the high powered "industrial" fans we have in each room. We will pass on your very kind observations on how Marblava is presented to Carmen who takes care of everything and works really hard to make guests feel at home. Perfect for off-season active holidays and for families any time of year!!

Marblava is a lovely, comfortable, spacious apartment in a residential area, 1km inland from the coast (15 minute walk in the Summer, less when it's cooler, five minutes by bus), close to the action, but not too close.

Its three bedrooms and large garage make it ideal for active guests (sea sports (especially sailing and scuba diving), cycling of all sorts, hiking etc etc) all year round.

Marblava is also great for families on a budget, - five minute bus ride from the beach and main shops or a 15 minute stroll on foot. Spend the day at the beach and then come home to space and comfort!

It is located right in the middle of a residential area with all the shops, restaurants and bars you need. Then a little further down the road you have the main Sant Feliu shops, markets and the rest of it!

But if you want to explore further afield, with its own secure garage and easy access to places like Girona, Barcelona, Empuries, Figueres, Cadaques etc., it is great for that too. If you love Salvador Dali or Antoni Gaudi then there is no better place to use as your base.

Sant Feliu's strap-line is 'Open all year round' and so it is. In the Summer it is an ideal place for a beach/sea-sport holiday with lots of activities, events and sights to see.

In Spring and Autumn you may well still be able to swim and you can delight in the verdant countryside as well as visit a vast range of historical and artistic sites in slightly cooler weather. The cycling, Via Ferrata, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving and sailing are also particularly good at this time of year.

In Winter the sea is 'Brava' or 'Wild' making it a sight to see and the restaurants, coffee shops etc are still open with many attractions still accessible but without the crowds and the heat.

The gastronomy is unsurpassed and even the basic dishes such as home made sausage and white beans or huevos Don Pablo are very tasty indeed.

From here you can easily access:

Girona with its marvellous architecture, shops and restaurants.

Barcelona with all it has to offer.

Empuries, the Roman and Greek remains with excellent mosaic floors remaining and a stunning view of the Mediterranean.

Dali-land - Figueres where the Dali Museum is, his house in Cadaques and Gala's 'Castle' in Pubol.

The night-life of Platja d'Aro (but with a nicer, more peaceful place to come home to).

Ullastret the ancient Iberian town with its 9th century Medaeval church.

Peratallada with its 11th to 19th century buildings and artefacts.

La Bisbal, home of ceramics with so many shops and so little time!
