About Michel Gunther

Hello! Together with my wife and two boys, we bought this house in 2002. As naturalists, we made sure to fit the house and the plot in order to develop the surrounding biodiversity with some success (130 bird species, 80 butterfly species, 19 species of orchids, etc. can be spotted in the grounds). I am a photographer whose speciality is protecting the environment and nature and travels around the world.

Michel Gunther purchased this house in 2002

Why Michel Gunther chose Villes-sur-Auzon

This house is a delight because it is both big and easy to furnish. When we bought it, the house was in ruins and 600 sheep had taken up residence in the lounge. The front of the house has a large basin fed by a natural spring, which we use as a pool with no chlorine or other additives. On the plot, you can find various remains from its when it was an ochre quarry. Everything here is unique, belonging Provencal history. We find this only increases the delights and interest in staying here.

What makes this house unique

The 15-ha property has a prime location at the base of Mont Ventoux. It is part meadow, part woods, and part wilderness. They mow the meadow in June. The house is located in a peaceful location 2 km away from the closest village. A great place to meet with friends, the large house has spacious living areas. Whether this is in the lounge, on the terraces, in the ample eat-in kitchen, or in the summer dining room. The newly renovated house offers perfect comfort.

Simple Pleasures

  • 5 of 5

LaDurinette is a delight. Beautifully sited and in easy proximity to towns, markets, and of course Mont Ventoux. Be prepared for true country living - the essentials are all there, including dogs, cat and chickens. Our grandchild loved them all. Not fancy, but nothing better than relaxing in the freshwater pool on a hot afternoon with a glass of chilled rose from the local cave. The property manager was most helpful (and speaks English well - a bonus for us benighted unilingual Americans). We put two families together there for the better part of a week and never had a cross word pass - too distracted enjoying the setting. Exactly what we wanted.

Owner's Response: Dear David, thank you for your appreciation. I am really happy that you enjoyed La Durinette and the Provence. It didn't rain for all summer and now the place is really dry, but the spring is still running and we swim all days. The rooster is not singing anymore he is in the freezer and I apologize for the disturbance. I hope you will keep a good souvenir of your stay in Provence. Best regards Michel GUNTHER

Gorgeous house and property with amazing views and close to the village of Villes sur Auzon.

So beautiful and peaceful in the countryside! A really stunning interior and everything you need for a large group,or small, to enjoy Provence at its best. Françoise is delightful and so kind to help with everything daily! Also some amazing historical buildings on site to imagine 'old times' on a lovely walk. Thank you :)

Lovely property with lots of space.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. The property was spacious and well appointed. Plenty of room for us all to spread out and relax. We were 8 adults and 3 children - the pool was really good and really refreshing after a hot day out. Would be nice to know about the history of the brickworks. it was nice to go for a walk in the evening in the extensive grounds. Fresh eggs for breakfast from the resident chickens was an added bonus.

Memorable experience

  • 5 of 5

Thank you very much for the wonderful time we had at your place. We spent a wonderful week in this magical place. All of us really enjoyed the space, the atmosphere, and the nature.

The photos of your ad are nice, but they do not do justice to your home which is much nicer!

We appreciated the convenience of the kitchen and the general style of the house. And your kindness and advice were welcome and useful to make our stay a memorable one. We all hope to come back soon and will for sure recommend your place to our friends.

Thanks again!

Wonderful house in a lovely region

  • 5 of 5

Really nice house, very well decorated and furnished. We felt like home.

Natural pool was really nice for kids and men, a bit more diffucult for women ;) but refreshing in a hot summer.

The housekeeper is kind and helpful.

House highly recommended!

Exceptional house and region!

  • 5 of 5

Spacious and quiet house located in a beautiful region. Naturally preserved property that allows visitors to enjoy the unique nature and culture. Within a 45-minute radius drive, outstanding restaurants and speciality food (the nougatier in Sault!), the historic city of Avignon and its international festival, natural wonders (Mont Ventoux, Dentelles de Montmirail, Gorges de la Nesque).

The property itself is very large, surrounded by meadows, woods, and vineyards. Beautiful, uncluttered decoration, highlighting the raw materials. Everyone enjoys the pool/pond on a warm day. Highly recommended.
