Real life in a French Town

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed 2 weeks at this beautiful and well-equipped home just outside the walls of the old town, but well within a very short walking distance of everything in Pernes-les-Fontaines. The house has lovely furnishings, lots of comfortable beds, more bathrooms than any place we've ever rented, and the best collection of appliances we've seen in a few decades of holiday rentals, including not only a dishwasher and clothes dryer, but a great coffee maker, blender and food processor. Even good knives. The town has everything you need for relaxing with good food and wine, including a collection of bakeries, butchers, several grocery stores, 2 fruit & veg. places, and many bars and restaurants - several of which we enjoyed. As some reviewers have noted, there is a bar next door - really an artisinal beer place, but once we figured out their hours, and knew what to expect, they did not bother us at all - in fact, we enjoyed several "cocktail hours" there.

Pernes is near to everything - great market towns, amazing scenery, wineries, plus miles of cycling on quiet roads. A really great vacation.

A fabulous house, a treat to stay in

  • 5 of 5

We arrived a little early and Simon and his team were preparing this gorgeous house for our stay. Simon recommended a local restaurant and bar to relax in, which we did and had a great afternoon. We checked into Maison Louise and what a home. Absolutely lovely, the bedrooms where perfect and very comfy, I stayed in the twin room with such a pretty view, I cannot think of one bad thing to say at all, my partner and friends are all cycling geeks and after cycling up mint ventoux and the gorge e did have time to relax in such a pretty garden. I felt so at home I could have stayed so much longer. My self and partner are hoping To return with family next year. We loved it. Thank you Simon for being patient with us and allowing us to stay in your lovely home.

Beautiful property in a fabulous location.

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed our stay in Simon's lovely home. Summing up:

The best bits:

Air conditioning throughout which worked! (always a bonus)

Comfortable beds with quality bedding.

Spotlessly clean.

Incredibly well-equipped, including a gym (not used but nice to have the facility if we'd been feeling so inclined)

Lovely pool which had steps at one end (great for the toddler who was with us)

Fabulous hi-tech sound system in each room (caused several arguments over whose music was playing but never mind)

Tastefully decorated throughout.

A 2 minute walk from a delightful wine bar and a beer bar.

In the town of Pernes but very quiet apart from nearby church bells (which fortunately don't ring during the night!)

Simon was at the end of a phone to help with any issues should they arise.

The not-so-good bits:

Struggling to find any. Simon had thought of pretty much everything - even flowers and a magnificent bowl of fresh fruit to greet us. Maybe a hairdrier in each bedroom would be an added bonus.

Lovely House

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautifully designed and well equipped house. Comfortably enough space for all three generations of our family. Plenty of sun and shade in the garden too. The air conditioning was a bonus on the hot nights and the pool for the hot days. There was never any problem parking all three cars right outside. Pernes-les-Fontaines is a delightful town with everything we needed within walking distance. Simon is a charming host who looked after us well. Thanks for a great holiday.

Superbly presented and appointed. A beautiful house in a fantastic location.

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely fantastic house. We had a mixed group of family and friends who all loved it. There is something for all to enjoy, from the well appointed gym, the sound system, the excellent pool to the well appointed kitchen and interesting garden. We loved playing boules just outside the back gate and exploring the narrow streets of the town. The capacious laundry room accommodated our 4 bikes with room to spare for all our gear. Air conditioning is a big plus for this house, being efficient and easy to use. We found Simon extremely helpful and his restaurant recommendations are spot on. As keen cyclists the location is perfect. We could easily access both Mont Ventoux and Gorges de la Nesque without taking the car. There are also superb trails from the town for both running and walking, all of which can now be found on Strava. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer. We will be back.
