A superb, spacious (850 sq feet) apartment on a quiet mews street in the heart of Marylebone village (no through traffic on the street). Recently decorated, the apartment has a private entrance, spacious living room and bedroom, separate kitchen and all mod cons (TV, High speed Internet, fully equipped kitchen, washer-dryer, fitted wardrobes etc.) There is a superking sized bed, with a luxury temper mattress, in the main bedroom - plus a sofa bed in the living room. The apartment is a 2 minute walk from the shops and restaurants of Marylebone High St, a 5 minute walk to beautiful Regents Park, and a 7 minute walk to Baker St and Bond St tube stations.
** Please note that minimum age to rent the apartment will be 30 Years of age and professional work references may be requested**
Good location, quiet street with no outlet, quiet neighbors. Comfortable bed.
The place was just cleaned but we saw dust on the floor and our socks were dirty from walking around. Dirty tea pot, didn't use. Small second sink with a disposal was covered by a wet magazine under a cutting board. When lifted, saw bugs under it. Left it intact and informed the host. He was surprised to hear but offered no action.
Has a small, light weight drying rack with a broken hinge. It always seemed on the verge of collapse. Two bath towels consume the drying rack, tethering under the weight.
The kitchen has a fridge, microwave, oven, gas stove. There's a coffee press. Previous guests left food which I would think a good cleaning person would purge ... 2 opened bottles of wine, cereal boxes open and dried up, old crackers. Not food anyone would ever eat.
There were no kitchen towels, no washcloths, no hand towels, no kitchen towels, one stained bath matt found in a closet. We had one roll of paper towels in the kitchen with about 10 sheets on it. No backup supplies. No hand soap. Asked for another roll of paper towels, got none.
There's no power outlets in the bathroom. No outlet near any mirror and no extension cord for included hair dryer.
The bathroom has a wooden floor, damaged by water. It kept getting wet, no bath matt. The shower door is missing the handle. The shower walls and glass were mildewed at the bottom. The shower floor never dried during our 6 day stay. Sometimes a second shower is cold. The toilet tank sometimes takes a while to refill.
There's heating in the upstairs but the only heat in the downstairs is a towel warmer in the bathroom. Expect cold downstairs where the bedroom and bath are.
The host provided no instructions, no introductions. Via email, I was told the key is under the matt. Later I got an email regarding light switches. Dark upstairs, ok downstairs.
The heating mechanism is not apparent. Had to ask for instructions which were vague.
No instructions for the TV. Requires understanding how it's wired. Very few channels anyway.
Still no ironing board.
Host was not interested in taking any action to make this better, like provide more paper towels.
We've rented flats on many trips over the years and never had an experience like this where the host showed no interest in engaging to make things better. Be sure to ask a lot of questions and don't expect much from this host.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit in every possible way. The space is very generous. Only minor issue is figuring out lighting and technical details that are peculiar to English construction and electrical wiring.. A "tenant's manual" would be helpful. We'll definitely return.
The location was fantastic. Quiet neighborhood close to everything. The apartment was clean and comfortable. Great king size bed, wonderful shower and a nice vacation kitchen.
The unit needs some electrical work and Americans need to know that washcloths and hand towels are not a thing in London. (Bring them with you). Owner should care enough to type out instructions for light switches, TV operations, and washer/dryer operations. Also, an iron without an ironing board is almost useless.
This rental is hard to beat for location as this is a great area. (Don't judge by the Baker St/Marylebone tube station area. Go south east a few streets and the shopping and restaurants are hard to beat anywhere in London.
We stayed in this flat for six weeks last fall. The location is quite convenient to the Tube, Marylebone High Street, and Regent's Park -- all within a ten minute walk. The flat, located on a quiet street, has a spacious living room and kitchen upstairs and a similarly sized bedroom and bathroom/shower downstairs. The king bed is very comfortable and the large dining table is convenient for work or meals. New clothes washer/dryer. Proximity to the many neighborhood restaurants is a real plus. Brian and Juliet were helpful getting settled and with questions.
We loved the Marylebonne neighborhood. The flat was was on an amazingly quiet street and we were able to walk to many destinations. The kitchen did not really lend itself to cooking more than breakfast as there were very few provisions provided. But there were certainly wonderful restaurants in the area.
Brian was very pleasant and accommodating. I would highly recommend this flat!
