About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms, 1.5+ Baths, (Sleeps 6)

This lovely oceanfront home sits on 3.8 private acres with a stunning and expansive view of Penobscot Bay. The ocean side of the house is lined with windows and french doors open to the spacious deck--perfect for grilling, relaxing and taking in the view. Wonderful wooded walking trails out the back door and a private clay tennis court within walking distance complete the experience. The house had a wood stove and 2 zones of heating - for chillier weather in late fall, winter and early spring. This home is open, sunny and comfortable with water views from every room and wide pine floors throughout. The house has a half bath downstairs and three bedrooms and a full bathroom (with claw foot tub and separate shower) upstairs. The master bedroom has wonderful views, a full closet and queen bed. The guest room has a double bed, full closet and a water view, and the 'kids' room has two single beds and an amazing birds eye view of the water. This house combines casual elegance with charm for the perfect getaway. The house is about 35 mins to the Camden Snow Bowl and has great cross country skiing and snowshoeing right out the back door!

Why The Owner chose MidCoast and Penobscot Bay

My wife and I built this house on land that has been in my wife's family for 4 generations. It was a huge undertaking to build the house - we had to extend the dead end road 1,500 feet, bring in power and contend with all the granite that makes up Maine's rocky coastline. It took more than a year to complete - but it was certainly worth the trouble!

Perfect Maine

  • 5 of 5

We had the perfect vacation in June. My husband and I were looking for privacy, ocean front with unobstructed views, a modern comfortable home, and the ability to bring our dog. We were able to rest and relax, then go off and explore the areas such as Port Clyde, Rockland, and Camden. We saw lots of wildlife including the seal that liked to hang out near the cottage and watched the lobster boats every day. It was truly a perfect place to vacation. The photos tell it like it is. Great stay!

Just what we were looking for!

  • 5 of 5

After visiting Maine many years ago, we wanted to rent a house on the coast and stay a bit longer this time. This house was perfect......secluded on over 3 acres, yet only 10 min. from Tenant's Harbor and 15 min. to Port Clyde. The sound of the ocean waves lapping the rocks on shore was what I fell asleep to every night and awoke to every morning. This house was perfect for just the two of us, but would probably be fine for a small family, too. The pictures show exactly what the house looks like. Morning sunrises were beautiful on the deck. Rockland is the nearest "big town" with some nice restaurants and shops, but about a 20 min. drive away. We chose to dine locally in Tenant's harbor and Port Clyde and bought fish (at Jesse's Market in Rockland) to cook on our own. The added bonus for us was the clay tennis court a very short distance away. It was like our own private tennis court, which we used every morning!

Finally.....after 30 years of searching up and down the coast of Maine, we have found the PERFECT cottage! The location is totally private, the ocean views are stunning, the cottage is adorable and fully stocked with everything you need to have a wonderful vacation. Because there are no restaurants with a better view then this cottage, we chose to cook our meals and enjoy every moment of the amazing scenery. Locally you can purchase fresh, just out of the sea, lobsters, clams and haddock. The sunrises are incredible, the sound and scent of the ocean hypnotic. The icing on the cake for me was the wildlife....there were Harbor Seals on the rocks, Sea Ducks on the water, Osprey and Eagles in the air. There are also great hiking trails right from the house that wind through the conifers and a bog. We came home completely renewed and now we can't wait to rent the cottage again next year! A huge thank you to the owners for sharing this gem with us.

The true Maine experience

  • 5 of 5

This was the true Maine experience. A lovely house in a secluded location. Beautiful panaramic views of the ocean and surrounding forests. Although the location seems remote at first glance, the drive to local shops and businesses is short (15 minutes to groceries, restaurants, shops, etc.). Every morning we watched the lobster boats just offshore, numerous sailboats and beautiful sunrises. In the evening we enjoyed the deck and counted the lighthouses in operation. The moon shining on the ocean was beautiful. Our wildlife sightings were numerous. This was a very relaxing stay in a beautiful place.

Just Terrific!

  • 5 of 5

It has been years since I enjoyed a vacation as much as I did this one. This house is secluded and tailor-made for relaxing and decompressing. The owners keep it clean and well-maintained, and it is a very comfortable place to stay for a week. The internet service worked great, even on the evening when we had a pretty good storm. The photos cannot convey adequately the beauty of the views from all of the windows and the deck, and, with the property being right on the bay, there is always the soothing sound of the surf on the rocks. With the binoculars kept at the house, you can watch the lobster boats working the traps offshore and even see the houses on some islands several miles away. I enjoyed sitting on the deck at night to see how many lighthouse beacons I could see flashing. Being as secluded as it is, you have the opportunity to see wildlife such as turkeys and deer. However, it is an easy drive to Thomaston, Rockland, and Camden, and an easy day trip to Bar Harbor and Mt. Desert Island. We highly recommend eating at The Slipway in Thomaston and The Brown Bag in Rockland. But just as enjoyable was the ability to hike around the property, sit on the deck or in the house with a good book, and have relaxed, unhurried conversations with my family. The only regret we had was having to leave when our week was over.

Very comfortable; felt like home!

  • 5 of 5

This place was great. I really felt like I was staying at a friend's cabin because it was so warm and inviting. They had a lot of stuff for kids and the kids room had plenty of toys and books. The view was AMAZING. We sat out on the deck for hours at a time, watching the kids play on the rocks. The house is very remote. It takes a good 15 minutes to get to Thomaston, but we didn't mind at all. The photos are exactly as the house appears, although I think they've gotten nicer bed linens since the photos were taken. The internet was a little spotty, going down on a very stormy day, but it really wasn't a big deal. The water was reddish from the iron in the well water, so I'd recommend bringing drinking water. Port Clyde is a short drive and there's a couple of restaurants there and you can catch the ferry to Monhegan Island. Camden is about 45 minutes away if you want a more touristy experience. Any time I had a question, the owner was quick to respond and very helpful. Honestly, this was one of the top 3 places we've ever stayed. We hope to come back and will recommend to friends and family.
